Despite the immediate intervention of three off-duty nurses who performed CPR for over 20 minutes, they were unable to save him. The collision occurred at around 19:30 on 16 March, near the Chamchuri U-turn in Pong subdistrict. Emergency services from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Pattaya were alerted and coordinated with police and relevant agencies to investigate. At the scene, officers found a white Isuzu Rocky ten-wheel trailer with damage to its rear. Nearby, a blue-black Honda Wave 110i motorcycle lay overturned on the road. The rider, later identified as Mr. Adun, 63, was found dead on the road. Three female who happened to be passing by, stopped their vehicle and rushed to help. It was later revealed that they were nurses from Somdej Phra Boromma Ratchathewi Hospital in Si Racha, returning from a trip to Rayong. One of the nurses stated that upon checking the victim, they found no pulse and immediately began CPR. They continued resuscitation efforts for more than 20 minutes, before rescuers arrived, but sadly, they were unable to revive him. Rescue personnel later confirmed his death. Police are now investigating the cause of the incident, questioning witnesses and the lorry driver. CCTV footage from the area is also being reviewed to support any legal process. Initial investigation shows that the lorry was parked on the side of a well lit road, when the motorcyclist ran straight into it. -- 2025-03-16

At approximately 14:00 on 16 March, officers from Nong Phai Police Station received reports of a vehicle crash near Ban Nong Muang, Tha Daeng subdistrict. 7. Picture courtesy of Matichon. Authorities have seized a large quantity of unregistered chemical fertilisers and hazardous substances, valued at approximately 6.4 million baht, from a warehouse in Bangkok’s Lat Phrao district. The operation was linked to a well-known online retailer selling cannabis-related agricultural products. The crackdown was led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Pattanasak Bubpasuwan, Commissioner of the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), following an investigation into the sale of unregistered fertilisers. Officers executed a search warrant issued by the Criminal Court (Warrant No. 183/2025, dated March 14) and inspected the warehouse. During the raid, authorities seized: • 774 units of suspected chemical fertilisers that require registration under the Fertiliser Act B.E. 2518 (1975), of which 76 units were confiscated, and 698 were impounded. • 111 units of suspected hazardous substances, with 18 units seized and 93 impounded. The products, including brands such as FloraFlex, BioThrive, and FoxFarm, were intended for cannabis cultivation. Investigators found that the items lacked Thai-language labelling and official fertiliser registration numbers, raising concerns over their legality. Further investigation revealed that the warehouse served as a storage and distribution hub for various online sellers operating on platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and Facebook, with one particular shop having over 20,000 followers. The shop specialised in selling fertilisers and agricultural chemicals for cannabis cultivation, using the warehouse for packaging and delivery. Orders were processed via LINE messaging services. Authorities have confiscated the items for further examination and will pursue legal action against those responsible under relevant consumer protection and agricultural laws. -- 2025-03-17

A pedestrian bridge in front of the Talay Thai Market, Samut Sakhon, on Rama II Road has become virtually unusable after a newly constructed elevated roadway left just one metre of clearance, forcing pedestrians to stoop or crawl to pass through. The issue was highlighted by the facebook group “STRONG Anti-Corruption Club of Thailand”, which shared images of the bizarre situation on social media. The photos show the flyover’s structure obstructing the pedestrian bridge, making it difficult and impractical for people to use. The images quickly went viral, sparking widespread criticism and ridicule online. Social media users left sarcastic comments such as “Who approved this?”, “A new tourist attraction—’The Crawl-Through Bridge’”, and “It’s just a modern way to teach humility.” Others speculated that authorities would soon be forced to dismantle and reconstruct the bridge to resolve the issue. Local residents have called for urgent action to rectify the problem, but authorities have yet to issue an official response. -- 2025-03-17

  11. Picture from responders. An incident unfolded in Samut Prakan on 16 March, as a gas tanker carrying LPG caught fire on an old section of Sukhumvit Road, near a motorcycle repair shop in Klong Dan, Bang Bo district. The alarming incident was captured on CCTV, showing flames engulfing the truck’s rear wheel. The fire broke out shortly after 13:45 as the truck’s driver attempted to slow down and stop the vehicle. The flames quickly spread, causing panic in the area. People in the repair shop yelled at the staff to flee, as the fire quickly grew out of control. In another CCTV angle, a 75-year-old woman, standing in front of a nearby grocery store, was seen raising her hands in prayer, calling for the help of Luang Pu Pan, a revered monk, to put out the fire. As the fire intensified, the truck driver and nearby residents tried unsuccessfully to douse the flames with fire extinguishers. It wasn’t until a fire truck from the Klong Dan Sub-district Fire Department arrived on the scene that the fire was brought under control. The driver of the truck, Mr. Akhom Taengsri, 44, explained that he had just picked up the LPG from a plant in Bang Pakong to deliver to a customer. He suspects the truck’s rear brake system caused heat buildup, which led to the tire bursting and sparking the fire. Despite his efforts to stop the truck and use a fire extinguisher, the flames proved too strong until the fire department arrived. Witnesses, including the elderly woman who prayed to Luang Pu Pan, expressed their deep fear that the situation could have escalated into a major explosion. The 73-year-old woman, Arun, recalled a similar incident 30 years ago when a gas truck flipped over and exploded on Phetchaburi Road, an event she survived. For the 75-year-old woman in the CCTV footage, the sight of the burning gas truck triggered memories of past tragedies. She said, “When I saw it was a gas truck, I didn’t know what to do. I have faith in Luang Pu Pan, so I immediately prayed, asking him to help prevent an explosion and to put out the fire.” The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with transporting flammable materials, and the potential for disaster in residential areas. -- 2025-03-17

  13. UPDATE Man Arrested for Gold Shop Robbery in Pathum Thani, Blames Online Gambling Addiction Picture from reenactment. Police have arrested a 36-year-old man who robbed a gold shop in Pathum Thani, making off with 13 baht-weight of gold. The suspect, identified as Mr. Satawat “Ta” Panyokij, admitted to committing the crime due to financial difficulties and an addiction to online gambling. At approximately 10:00 on March 16, officers from Khu Khot Police Station, led by Pol. Col. Kantaphon Wanna, apprehended the suspect at a convenience store in Khlong Si, Khlong Luang district. The arresting team recovered the stolen gold jewellery, a sum of cash, and the white Honda Giorno motorbike used in the getaway. According to Pol. Col. Kantaphon, the suspect deliberately avoided gold shops in Khlong Luang, where security measures are stricter. Instead, he sought out a store without security grilles or guards, making it an easier target. The suspect confessed that he chose this particular shop because it had only female staff and was covered with dark window film, preventing passers-by from seeing inside. He believed these factors would allow him to escape undetected. Following the incident, police have urged gold shop owners to reinforce their security by installing clear glass windows, security grilles, and additional security personnel. During questioning, Mr. Satawat admitted that he committed the robbery due to financial and family problems, worsened by his addiction to online gambling. Police have charged him with theft. He remains in custody while further investigations take place. -- 2025-03-17

The incident occurred on the evening of 15 March at a rented house in the Ban Kram area. Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find 50-year-old Sak Sitti sitting in pain, bleeding from multiple injuries. He had been struck on the head and left ankle with a cleaver by his wife, 48-year-old Boonyanuch. According to Boonyanuch’s account, the altercation began during her birthday celebration when she made a pot of Tom Yum Gai, soup for dinner. Her husband, sitting outside with male friends, requested chicken rice instead. Boonyanuch reportedly responded, “We have soup, why don’t you eat that?” This sparked a heated argument, with her husband reportedly becoming angry and approaching her with an object. In self-defense, Boonyanuch grabbed a cleaver from the kitchen and swung it at her husband, striking him twice. Neighbours intervened and called for emergency services, who arrived to administer first aid before transporting Sak to the hospital. At present, the police have not pressed charges, as the incident appears to be a domestic matter. They are awaiting Sak’s decision on whether to file a formal complaint, which will determine if further action will be taken against his wife. -- 2025-03-17

  17. Picture from responders. A massive fire broke out at a large paper factory in Sai Noi district, Nonthaburi, causing extensive damage estimated at over 500 million baht. More than 20 fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze, which rapidly spread across the facility. The fire was reported at approximately 12:30 on 16 March, when Sai Noi Police Station received an emergency call about a fire at a paper manufacturing plant in Khun Sri subdistrict. Authorities immediately coordinated with local disaster relief teams, including rescue personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and firefighters from nearby municipalities. The factory, covering an area of over 500 rai, of covered storage areas filled with large paper rolls and cardboard. By the time emergency crews arrived, the flames had already engulfed a significant portion of the warehouse, causing the roof structure to begin collapsing. Firefighters struggled to access certain areas due to the confined layout, forcing them to focus efforts on preventing the fire from spreading further. Given the challenges posed by the fire’s intensity and the limited accessibility of the site, firefighters worked to secure water sources from nearby locations. Although the full extent of the damage has yet to be assessed, initial estimates suggest losses exceeding 500 million baht. By late afternoon, officials confirmed that the fire had been brought under control, with the ongoing removal of smouldering material, to fully extinguish the blaze. Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the blaze. Infrared drone footage of the fire. -- 2025-03-17

  21. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A heated dispute between two men escalated when one drew a gun and shot the other in a residential area in Phetchaburi province, leaving the victim with serious injuries. The incident occurred on the morning of March 16, when the victim, a 45-year-old monk’s helper, was shot twice by the assailant, identified as 56-year-old Chaiwat Boonyong. The victim, Phan Chuen, was shot once in the left arm and once in the abdomen. Authorities found two spent casings from a 9mm Glock automatic handgun at the scene. The shooter fled into his home after the attack, prompting a standoff with police officers. After over half an hour of negotiation, Boonyong surrendered and was taken into custody. According to witnesses, the two men had been arguing earlier that day. Neighbours reported that the altercation had begun when the victim, a well-known figure in the local Buddhist community, had asked the shooter to lower the volume of his loud drinking sessions, as it was disturbing elderly residents. The situation appeared to have been simmering for some time, with earlier threats of violence and gunshots fired in the vicinity. One witness, 32-year-old Nat, explained that the victim had attempted to de-escalate the situation, but shortly after, the shooter returned and shot the victim. The victim, who was known for his kindness, would often share food with the poor after his daily alms rounds. The police investigation suggests that the shooter and the victim had a long-standing feud, with the shooter previously firing a warning shot at a pile of dirt as a threat. Despite attempts to smooth over the tensions, the violence ultimately culminated in a serious attack. Chaiwat Boonyong now faces attempted murder charges, and police are gathering further witness testimony as part of their ongoing investigation. Authorities have pledged to press charges and bring the shooter to justice in accordance with the law. -- 2025-03-17

  23. Picture captured from CCTV A gold shop robbery in Bangkok’s Watcharapol area ended with the swift arrest of the suspect after his wife persuaded him to turn himself in. The robbery occurred around 12:30 on 16 March at the Aurora gold shop on Watcharapol Road in Bang Khen district. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Pramot Kongsriworakulchai, initially entered the shop pretending to pawn a gold necklace. When staff identified the necklace as fake, he brandished a firearm, threatened employees, and fled with five genuine gold necklaces, each weighing one baht. Pramot escaped on a motorbike towards Watcharapol Market. Police, led by Lieutenant Yuranan Phetmanee and Colonel Anan Warasat of Bang Khen Police Station, launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage to track the suspect’s movements. By 21:00 the same day, officers apprehended Pramot outside his residence on Soi Ram Inthra 8 in the Anusawari area of Bang Khen. He was found with four of the stolen gold necklaces, the clothes worn during the robbery, and his getaway motorbike. During questioning, Pramot admitted to the crime, stating that he had fled towards the Bang Sue area, where he pawned one necklace for approximately 42,000 baht. He then altered his appearance by getting a haircut in an attempt to evade capture. The suspect revealed that his wife had called him after hearing news of the robbery and confronted him about his involvement. She urged him to surrender, telling him escape was impossible. Following her advice, he returned home and called police, who arrested him shortly afterwards. Pramot claimed he had committed the robbery to repay debts from an informal loan, as his earnings from working as a motorcycle taxi driver were insufficient. He also confessed that the firearm used in the robbery was a fake, purchased for 300 baht, and that he had discarded it in the Chao Phraya River after the crime. Police have charged Pramot with robbery and he has been remanded in custody pending legal proceedings. -- 2025-03-17
