  1. I would not recommend relying only on the Thai health care community simply because the quality of care, skill and knowledge is not up to western standards in many cases. Personally I have made sure I have insurance in the west and can go back for care if I deem it necessary. Say heart trouble or any kind of major surgery. I'd get it done in the west and not in Thailand
  2. Absolutely, I've seen a few Doctors over the years at Bangkok Hospital and the like and they can be way behind in the latest advances in medicine. Many are just glorified pill salesman.
  3. Exactly my point. Don't sell it all and move to Thailand unless you have a way to return to your home country in case of medical emergency. NEVER rely completely on Thai health care because they do come up short in many areas. Just the fact that many Thai Doctors (at reputable hospitals) will prescribe antibiotics for the flu or common cold is a HUGE RED FLAG. If you don't understand why then that is part of the problem. Any of you who are considering long term living here and are doing it because you can't get by in your home country be sure and visit a Goverment Hospital in Thailand before you do. They are very substandard compared to any western hospital. Far to many retirees come with enough money to get along here but not in their western homeland. Many do not give enough thought to making sure they are covered in the case of INEVITABLE illness or health issues. They wind up like this poor soul withering away in some 5000 baht a month room in Rayong. It's purely bad planning or unwillingness to look at the realities of old age. This kind of suffering is really quite unnecessary if the future is planned for. I really do hope some kind of crowd funding or charity from the Thai community might surface but I fear it won't.
  4. I'm not looking for a discussion with anyone who makes blunt vague and irrational statements like "life in a democrat run city" in response to crime problems. Making the nonsensical insinuation that the politics of the leaders has something to do with the crime rate. That just utter BS.
  5. There's a lot of that going on in these forums. Arm chair experts of every variety! Self appointed Doctors of science all over the place.
  6. Said in a Bugs Bunny voice: It's a conspiracy I tell ya, a conspiracy!!
  7. Man, anyone who decides to do the expat life and doesn't put in place provisions for old age health care is really just asking for trouble. I pity the man, but his troubles could have easily been avoided by making sure he had an exit plan. This is fair warning for all trying to "live the dream" Have medical insurance and continued care in your home country. If you cannot then DON'T sell it all and come. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would not soley rely on the Thai health care community for all health care needs. This man should have setup a way for him too easily go back to the home country in the case of medical emergency and get care. If not able too then he should have not gotten himself stuck here. This kind of thing is absurd but all too common.
  8. I can hear it now. He'll be trying to get the prize and talking about peace at all his rallies. It will go something like this: Let me tell you, nobody loves peace more than me. We're talking about tremendous peace, the best peace, everybody agrees. We had peace, the greatest peace, really, with the Abraham Accords, nobody thought it was possible, but we did it, we got it done, beautiful. Now, some people, they don't want peace, they want to fight, it's terrible, very bad people, but we're going to have peace, believe me, total peace, the most beautiful peace, and it's going to be so great, you're all going to be so happy, it's going to be tremendous.
  9. Just smoke a bowl and you'll mellow out. Toke up and let the anger melt away.
  10. Lot's of data concerning paranoid schizophrenia associated with long term THC use. It's still not well understood how long term use effects brain chemistry. Best not to use such a crude intoxicant unless there is significant data to show it's OK. My personal experience is after about 7 years of more than twice weekly use I developed severe paranoia. I stopped. In fact I don't remember any real benefit from smoking weed. Just made me lazy and eat too much. Stupid drug, at least for me. Paranoid delusions CAN induce violence in the sufferer. So anybody saying it's a "fact" that weed does not make people violent are speaking in half truths and insufficient data.
  11. I wonder if they will be able to even organize any kind of protest. Potential protestor: Dude, this is too much work. Wow man. Why don't we get together with all those Goverment big shots and smoke a bowl. Everyone will mellow out and understand just how great weed is. Don't they know if everyone smoked weed the world would be a better place?
  12. The truth is you have no idea what you are talking about.
  13. Man, that is such a sophomoric and hyperbolic statement. Let me ask you a favor. Make sure you and wear your MAGA cap when you are out and about town. Some of us would like fair warning .. please help us avoid the nonsense. You might as well just post this instead: "My thinking is about as blunt as using a hammer to fix a watch and crude as a fart in church"
  14. I've lived in Thailand a good portion of the last 12 years. I still cook a lot at home because I like traditional salads with lots of leafy greens, bell peppers, tomato, onion etc. Trying to find a good large salad even at a western restaurant in Thailand is difficult and when you do they are much more expensive than taking a few minutes to chop up some vegetables and add some dressing at home. I usually supplement the salad with one of those 7-11 small Thai meals which usually give some rice and meat of some sort or another. Good and cheap meal. I would, fairly often go out and buy som tom thai from a food stall or cart and maybe some barbecue chicken .. Gai Yang etc.. This is my personal diet. If one is OK with all the Traditional Thai fare than, it's quite obvious that eating out everyday is certainly very affordable. The USA obviously has a very expensive standard of living. Most EVERYTHING is at least double or more. When I stay in USA I rarely eat out because, as you point out, it's very expensive and for me the availability of good vegetable options is not that great and when available way too expensive. I have really grown to hate the USA HOMOGENIZED corporate infrastructure. There are so many corporate brands that have taken over most facets of retail it makes choices limited and it makes ANYTOWN USA look like every other ANYTOWN USA ... really bad IMHO. I really don't like it.
  15. I'll be there but in disguise. I'll be wearing my "Make America Great" Cap along with my "Rainbow Coalition" T-shirt.
  16. Mine still works thank you very much. You never saw me post otherwise did you? Everything is working just as it should and pleases the few mistriesses I hvae going. I have named my junk. Let me introduce you since you are so interested in my penis situation. My penis is the "The Octagon." My left testicle is "James Westfall." My right testicle is "Dr. Kenneth Noisewater." Lucky girls get to meet the whole gang!!
  17. Good, might finally get rid of the dank stank in my condo and in and around the beaches where I walk. Ferkin' tired of self centered high flyers lighting up wherever and whenever they want to stinking up the place.
  18. That would be a serious medical issue. My penis is in between my legs right above my balls. It does not give me problems with eating or talking when excited either.
  19. What? Corruption practiced by government officials in Phuket? My word, this is unthinkable! I'm moving to Pattaya where the government officials are above board and play by the book.
  20. I think restaurant prices would be pretty low on my list if I was considering return to USA. IMHO, there are things to like about each, but I get bored and tired of both if I spend too much time in either spot. Best thing to do is snow bird Thailand. Especially when considering life in a town that experiences winter. In my old age US winters can be brutal and climate change is making things even more unpredictable. My advice: Forget about restuarant prices and consider some other more important things. Healthcare, air quality, long term assisted care available? conveniences, etc.
  21. Certified perv. Seek medical help at once. You've crossed the line sorry to say. You've reached the pinnacle of debauchery and there is no turning back without professional help. There is a gal that does colon cleanses on Soi 6 I could put you onto.
  22. You do have a bank account in Thailand yea? Just use their app and pay using that. Bangkok Bank app works fine IMHO
  23. Exactly, who would expect "The Sophomore" as I like to call him to be any less bombastic and quick to coat his under achievements with Gold paint. Anybody who owns a house full of gold toilets should not be president.
  24. Hmm, I guess that leave's ole' Blighty off the list of vacation spots for awhile.
  25. Hey, if you dig ladyboys that's your business. But tlell me do you bring your ladyboys back to your 5000 Baht a month no kitchen and all in one bathroom flat?
