Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare
BigBruv replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Fair play - wasn't trying to scare anyone or say that UK authorities are not an utter bunch of c-units with that policy. Also, a 'few years' may turn into many years as pubsec employees are useless and frequently mugged off by IT contractors who don't deliver what they promise. In the circumstances, you'll likely be fine for at least 5+ years (for context I worked in IT and was aware of 'single view of a citizen' aim 14 years ago). -
Expat Investment Advisors
BigBruv replied to wordchild's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Investment Advisor seems to be a boomer thing. S&P on average returns about 8% per year - no advice required. 'Advisors' take a cut - usually 1 or 2% Do you really want to rely on (and pay for) someone in a slick suit with some slick patter to gamble on your behalf? Even with the legit top guys, only 1 in 10 can beat the index: https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/12/beating-the-market.asp Once you agree to tax avoidance you are 'off the reservation and unprotected'. Why risk it? -
It's 2024: How can people be so heartless?...(and cruel?)
BigBruv replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
They certainly don't seem to make tyrants like they used to. They're slick nowadays - media trained and with great PR teams. Maybe Obama but this guy is hard to beat - absolute psychopath, absolutely full of it and seemingly impossible to flush -

UN Report Warns Of Asia's Increasing Climate Crisis
BigBruv replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
FACT stands though: China now emits more CO2 than the entire developed world combined, approving the equivalent of two new coal plants every week. I get it though, you're bored so 👺 But if you genuinely care so much (unlikely) maybe turn your air con off, give your phone and laptop a break and stop spouting hot air about "per capita blah blah" and so on. The world will be a cooler and better place -
Clear conflict of interest: Pfizer funds Oxford Uni: https://www.medsci.ox.ac.uk/for-staff/resources/business-partnerships-office/research-alliances/research-alliance-with-pfizer Also worthwhile being aware that the Astrazeneca jab referred to in the OP was also known as the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine (the Oxford refers to the same Oxford University whose study you have cited). Whilst vax injuries may be rare, they can also be HORRIFIC as per the case of Lisa Shaw: "Shaw,...started complaining of headaches a few days after her vaccination. She eventually visited a hospital A&E department in Durham, where she was diagnosed with a blood clot. She was transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where she received a number of treatments, including cutting away part of her skull to relieve the pressure on her brain, but despite those efforts she died on 21 May" https://www.theguardian.com/media/2021/aug/26/bbc-presenter-lisa-shaw-died-of-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine-complications-coroner-finds Dismissing accounts like these does a disservice to readers imho.

Your 'covid' 'vaccines' went from: 100% effective - you won't catch covid if you get a vaccine to You need a regular booster every 3 months or covid could still kill you to to they might help to AstraZeneca admits its Covid vaccine can cause rare blood clots If you have any pattern recognition ability (doubtful) you'll be able to predict what the reports next year will be. BTW, are you saying up to date with your boosters?

Just think, if you'd worked harder and/or smarter you could have retired in a decent country which singlet wearing slobs couldn't afford to live in or even visit. As it is, best to learn to deal with it with equanimity £1 = 46.3 baht

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/astrazeneca-covid-vaccine-blood-clots-b2536898.html "The World Health Organization confirmed that Covishield can have life-threatening side effects. “A very rare adverse event called Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome, involving unusual and severe blood clotting events associated with low platelet counts, has been reported after vaccination with this vaccine.”

Cool story bro 👍 Don't need to be a genius to work out that bringing together *currently* disparate systems and databases will give govts a single view of each of their subjects. https://papers.govtech.com/Achieving-a-single-view-of-the-citizen-with-information-management-1374.html & https://gds.blog.gov.uk/2021/12/01/one-login-for-government-december-2021-update/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=martynssopost&utm_campaign=gdsblogbacklink *Single View Of The Citizen* - ie. ALL your data visible in one system is something govts are working on now. As I said previously, rule swervers will likely be ok for a few years but not indefinitely. -

China now emits more CO2 than the entire developed world combined, approving the equivalent of two new coal plants every week. Why don't you ever hear Bill Gates, John Kerry, Al Gore, Greta Thunberg or any of the other climate con artists mention that? Instead they talk about ending meat consumption, shutting down agriculture, banning non-electric vehicles and forcing you to eat insects. Because—since all human activity, including breathing, results in CO2 emissions—the "CO2 is pollution" narrative a merely a pretext to control, regulate and micromanage every intricate detail of your life. It's not really about controlling the environment—it's about controlling YOU. -

Not rocket science but, like the white guy in the video, they probably had to pay 400 or 900 baht for that lesson. In other countries civilisation prevails. But TIT: Hub of Scams & Scammers

Yep, EVERYTHING Al Gore predicted in his 2006 'An Inconvenient Truth' boomer scaring documentary never came to pass / has proven to be nonsense. Every generation seems to believe they're living in the 'End Times' ("how can the world continue without me?"). I would suggest some of the bedwetters on here watch 'An Inconvenient Truth' (again?) for their own education and to put their minds at ease. -

I think your beliefs are part of a seemingly widespread boomer fantasy: The End of the World. You are living thousands of miles away from your 'home' and have the air conditioning on day and night burning energy for your selfish ass yet blame others who see the reality of the situation: ANOTHER power grab via a hoax (same as happened with covid - which you also fell for). -

100%. He's either a thai man (small pee pee) or one of those weird farangs that think thais can do no wrong (which is even odder/sadder)
