  1. Yeah some are on to it.

Thirty percent of your list are Ladyboy bars.

Maybe the falangs need to stop paying them and employing them.

Farang owners seem to know what their customers want and are prepared to provide it, whereas Thai owners either don't know how to attract big drinking customers or don't care.

    Not too sure about that.

    JP Bar

    Jenny Star Bar

    Hot Tuna bars

    Lucky Star Bar

    Hard Rock Bar

    Abbies Bar

All 100% thai owned and very successful (Some more so than Stoneys, Roo etc etc) :o

  2. Well, thats different....and somewhat unusual on this forum.

You can live well in NZ on 900 nzd a week if thats your Number one choice.

Plenty of nice women in that age bracket....A lot of successful chinese gals in their forties looking for nice guys too.

Nice lifestyle and weather in the north....Paihia,Kerikeri.

Auckland is great as is Tauranga and Mt Maunganui.

Or the south island queenstown in beautiful but getting expensive...in the main due to a LOT of Americans moving in down there.

Guess it depends what you are in to recreation wise.

    Disclosure I am a kiwi.

You could live Reas well in NZ on 2500 usd a mth.

But if you want to get laid by nubile 25 year olds forget it at your age.

Phillipines Yes good english....some nice educated girls good life on 2500usd a mth.

Thailand well its pensioners paradise where all old pervs go to die in the saddle and with 2500 usd a mth its  good living.

Mexico can you speak spanish you need it outside tourist areas as you prob know.

Vietnam nice, upcoming, girls a bit more reserved.

It sounds like you've been around Snoophound.

Actually I would be more than happy with a good selection of 40 to 55 year old women. After a month in bed, I want someone to carry on a conversation and plan a life with.

That's the age range of women I'm talking to in Thailand, and they are well,

    more responsible and mature.

If I could find the same in NZ that would be great.

I’m trying to decide whether to go to Thailand, Philippines, Viet Nam, or Puerto Vallarta, MX.

I want to live 4 months in the states and 8 months in one of these countries.

I’m 58 and have a retirement income of about $2,500 US per month.

I ‘ve been talking to very nice ladies in each country.

Here’s the way I see it:

The women are similar in each country.

PI women speak English, are Christian, and willing to live in the US.

Thailand is a cleaner, safer country with very nice people, and cheap medical care.

I’ve heard great things about Thailand, and am looking at Korat or Udon Thani.

Viet Nam is hip and more Western, but a little more expensive.

Puerto Vallarta is more expensive, but closer to home. Mexican women are very nice, but crime is higher in Mexico.

My first choice would be New Zealand, but there are few women there.

And I don’t think I could afford to live as well there.

    Any comments are much appreciated.

  4. It would seem a smart thing for Medicare to pay for operations in Thailand.

    A lot cheaper for them.

However I think many people dont bear in mind the hidden costs of getting ill when retired in thailand on a small income.

    Certainly something to plan for.

probably find medicare is gonna be used more heavily soon, the health insurance leeches are putting up the premiums again  :o

100% correct. The average person is thinking 'why pay higher and higher premiums when I can get free medical under Medicare.'

If they opt to drop out of health insurance, the waiting list for free hospitals gets longer and longer. It's already in a hellova mess.

The Libs know what should be done (scrap Medicare) but they also know that it would be political suicide. In the meantime tax payers continue to pay for hypochondriacs.

Anyway, this is getting off topic.

I can't understand why expat Aussies would want to retain their Medicare cards if you are living full time in Thailand. If you had a major operation planned, would you put your name on the hospital waiting list in Oz, then return home to Oz when a bed is available, or would you walk straight into a hospital bed in Thailand where your ailment can be immediately attended to?

To me the answer to that question is simple.

  5. Round 2 or round 22??

By real women I suppose you mean the hordes of impoverished Isaan girls that trawl the streets of pattaya looking for their next victim?.

If any of you idiot farangs would learn the language to a reasonable degreee you would quickly realise that your lovely wife/girlfriend from upcountry is openly talking in Thai about how stupid you are.

The bottom line is that if a girl is willing to go out with an old broken down man its because of money regardless of where you are in the world.

    Oh dear :o

    2006. Round 2. :D

  6. We went to a very expensive restaurant here in Sydney xmas eve.

I think the waiter got very offended when she requested chillies for their signature steamed fish dish....they said they didnt have any!!!

I could see the chefs all peering out to have a look at this philistine.

Been to more than a dozen thai restaurants where we live around innner cbd sydney and none are up to scratch either!!!

Last time I dialled in Indian ....some lovely butter chicken and a hot vindaloo all the windows were opened and mutterings of ki men etc etc were heard.

Wonders why I keep her at home cooking.

Took my gal to Malaysia - she lover eating Roti Canai for breakfast and all the Indian Khanom to try...Guess thats why I like her she'll try anything although every now and then she throws a I want eat Kow Neow mood.  Most of all she liked the Makan Padang restaurants in Indonesia - although the Indo's couldn't understand why she added some many chilli's !

Think its just getting them over that theres more to the world than Thailand...much like many British people...

  7. Remarkable

No contact numbers for after hours

    No not really

on the 5th floor of Bumrungrad hospital is an australian man in a coma from injuries sustained in a fight ( or beating ) outside the landmark hotel at around 6am on the 25th of december.

he is around 35 years old and maybe in the military.

I am posting this because maybe some thai visa members have some contacts in the australian emabassy and can alert them to the situation.

  8. Some Famous Bullimore quotes.

    Strict but magnificent." - On his tough father Sir Frank;

"There is a little bit of the whore in all of us, gentlemen. What is your price?" - To the Australian Cricket Board in 1976, seeking the right to televise Test matches.

"From now on it is every man for himself and let the devil take the hindmost." - Storming out of a meeting with ICC members at Lord's in 1977.

    "An Alan Bond only happens to you once." - After Mr Bond bought the Channel Nine network for $1.05 billion in 1987. Packer bought it back three years later for $300 million;

    "I've been to the other side, and let me tell you son, there's f...ing nothing there." - In 1990 after his heart stopped while playing polo;

"He wasn't very lovable but he was bloody efficient." - On one of his heroes, Genghis Khan.

    "If a working class Englishman saw a bloke drive past in a Rolls-Royce, he'd say to himself 'Come the social revolution and we'll take that away from you, mate'. Whereas if his American counterpart saw a bloke drive past in a Cadillac he'd say 'One day I'm going to own one of those'. To my way of thinking the first attitude is wrong. The latter is right";

"Kerry Francis Bullmore Packer. Reluctantly." - To a federal parliamentary media inquiry, when asked to state his full name and the capacity in which he appeared.

Sad to see him go , the last of the aussie larrikan businessman breed.

Now we get to watch James bumble away all of Dad's empire.

  9. So how many marriages have not happened due to non payment?

    Any experiences out there??

Can you imagine a Thai guy on hols to the UK and getting involved with some CHAV bird from the local housing estate and when setting out his marital intentions towards her having to bung say £100,000 as suggested by her dear old gin soaked mother....gotta help the family mate ..tradition ..innit

To make matters worse it would then be indicated that he has to hire the local "Dog and Duck"and do a freebe to every layabout on the estate...including slipping a few quid to uncle Charlie and aunt Peggy becuase again its the way we do it "dann ere"........Sin Sod ...me ***...Stupid Sod more like...

Still as they say.... one born every minute........do a runner...no charge

I just read this - are you sick?

  10. Thats a lot of coca

Pattaya Police arrest 6 people, 5 from England with Cocaine, Ecstasy and Marijuana.

We joined a team of undercover Pattaya Police Officers on a drugs raid over the weekend which led to the arrest of 5 people from England and one Thai man and the seizure of 5 grams of Marijuana, 61.8 Grams of Ecstasy, and 215.7 grams of Cocaine.

Police began the operation with the arrest of Mr. Mark Freely aged 45 from England at the Yensabai Condotel in South Pattaya, acting on an arrest warrant which indicated that he was wanted on Cocaine possession charges. He was detained and Police took him to his room where they found a further 5 people inside, three men and one woman from England and one Thai man. Police saw evidence of Marijuana and Ecstasy on the coffee table but no signs of any Cocaine. Mr. Freely fully cooperated with officers and led them to a locker at the Escape Rental Company in Soi Diana Inn, where he admitted to stashing a supply of cocaine. Back at Pattaya Police Station detailed checks were made on the seized drugs and it was confirmed that they were indeed Cocaine and Ecstasy. A bag of glucose was also discovered which Police tell us was used as a mixing agent for the Cocaine. Mr. Freely confessed to purchasing the drugs from an unnamed English agent on Walking Street which Police are currently following up.

In addition to the arrest of Mr. Freely, Mr. Dean Hanold aged 40, Mr. Lee Spence aged 37, Mr. Nicky Milburu aged 26 and Miss Nicola Allen aged 34 all from England along with Khun Sumit aged 18 from Thailand were all detained.

Mr. Freely will be charged with possession and dealing in class 1 illegal drugs and the others will be charged with possession only. The British Embassy in Bangkok has been informed of the case and are now working with the Police.

  12. Fred DAGG.

    Great Avatar.

Of course hes pretty much an ocker now

    And still bloody funny

    Q. You're trapped in a room with a tiger, a rattlesnake and an Australian rugby fan.  You have a gun with two bullets.  What do you do?

    A. Shoot the Australian fan - twice.

Three rugby fans were on their way to a game when one fan noticed a foot protruding from a clump of bushes on the side of the road.  They all stopped and discovered it was a nud_e female, dead drunk.  Out of respect and propriety, the Springbok fan took off his cap and placed it over her right breast.  The All-Black fan took off his cap and placed it over her left breast.  Following their lead, the Australian fan took off his cap and placed it over her crotch.

The police were called and when the officer arrived, he conducted his inspection.  First, he lifted up the springbok cap, and wrote down some notes.  Next, he lifted the All-Black cap, replaced it, and wrote down some notes.  The officer then lifted the Australian cap, replaced it, lifted it replaced it, lifted it a third time and replaced it one last time.

The Australian fan was getting upset and finally asked," what are you, a pervert or something?  Why do you keep lifting and looking lifting and looking?"

Well," said the officer," I am simply surprised.  Normally when I look under an Australian hat, I find an @rsehole!"

Eddie Jones takes the Wallabies out for training and tells everyone to assume their normal position.  So they all go and stand behind the goalposts and wait for the conversion. :o

  13. Yes ,thats a positive

    Shows she respects her parents.

    Not uncommon in Issan

If i love her. yes, in her country . I've seen her way of life , she is lazy and unfaithfull. If she love me, of course not but she play the game. but i think that relation can help me to understand a very different culture. the " sanuk way of life"

but i really dont understand why she brought me in her family. She was differently dressed, said me no kiss, big respect and self control 100% .

  14. For sure, Mr Wonder there did go a bit too far.

Read like he was real uptight and pished-off at some of the posts by Farang members here demining of his country-buddies.

If Mr Wonder gets the boot for a while cause of his abusive language, do those members who posted abusive comments about his countrymen also receive the same punishment?

    Just wondering....

wonder was warned, he ignored the warning........ 7 days..... maybe back.

Lost his sense of humour along the way, or just does not have one.

    We are "infidels" ......... :o

Note: if I had responded after the warning,I would have been suspended...... believe me, I was biting my lip.

  15. Handcuffs??

    Seriously.

Dont get swept away by the romanticism of it all.

Is this girl good for you?

    Can she speak English?

What can she do for you apart from?

Do you like her or Love her?

I am sure she is a lovely girl but....be objective.

Its christmass cant get too Krusty

    quote=john ray,2005-12-25 04:05:33]

    dear friend,

merry christmas to all of you

I've met a freelance girl in samui last june

I've seen her 2 times for holidays and enjoy her company

I was curious to see her real way of life and ask her to go in issan to meet her family. first , she doesn't seem happy of my request but say yes after asking her father. I went to isaan and spend a very good time there. everybody was smiling to me. they were 12 in a pick up. we 've taken lunch on a boat and they brought me back to their village. their share dinner with me and bring me back to my hotel late in the night. the girl seems to be different than she was in samui. a old mama put me a white bracelet around my wrist ( left and right) and do the same on her left wrist.

My request is double. Do isaan girl used to bring back farang in her own family and what mean the white bracelet for isaan people. was it only touristic fun game ?

    what do you think about?

  16. Its a lovely sunny but windy day in Sydney 3pm

The Missus has been cooking for three days.

The and about 20 of the Sydney Thai mafia as I call them are about to descend and eat themselves senseless ,then those that can drink will party.

    Lots of horrible smelling food...............

I am on my fourth hic Mimosa.......And feeling no pain.

Thai Music on the Stereo and I think I am missing Thailand more than they are.

  17. 10 years ago yes ,you could have chucked it in and lived well on a lot less than you do now.

You need a minimum income of 100k a mth if you want a USD 100k lifestyle in Thailand.

If you are prepared to compromise, chase ballloons, and live a pretty shabby life ,worry about med bills, and trips home...well 50k would do it

Get real ,slog it out another 5 years ,try and invest shrewdly and think again.

I did a similar thing about 11 months ago. High paying job for UN in Kabul but the stress of a few dead mates and kidnapped colleagues was enought to warrant a long long holiday/life on a sunny beach so I now call Koh Phangan home. I have a Japanese wife so not tempted by the local lovelies however it is interesting to watch those that are.

I think the biggest problem is creating an income stream that is commensurate with the life you want to lead. So many come here and get into a bar and think this is going to be the life however it is hard work with beer temptations and at the end of the day, looks like little gross profit unless you are out there pimping.

Your major competition are Thais who are content with a lot less.

For myself, I had big enough bankroll and can live quite well on my earning from daytrading on the sharemarket at home yet still looking to open a small business here, one that is more of an indulgence rather than a necessity to live and no, not a bar.

My advice is go for it but do it with your eyes open. I am watching with interest at the moment a couple of guys been here a week and will put down the deposit on a run down bar next week, no work permits, no stopping them, no trade and no idea.
