  1. It's not just policing, it's the entire criminal justice system all the way up to the Prime Minister and the EHCR. The entire system in the UK is broken.
  2. In the USA there was a name for this type of thing. I think it was "gone postal".
  3. Being a glass half-full type of guy, I think it is possible. It just needs enforcement of the existing laws 100% of the time; people will learn soon enough. Although being a glass half-full type of guy, I, in no way whatsoever, think that is possible...
  4. How about enforcing existing laws? Maybe that's what this 4m Baht should go towards? No issue with the campaigns, but how many will listen. This is worldwide by the way, not Thai-bashing.
  5. Seems that many have been deported, but seem able to come straight back with little impediment. What a mess the UK has gotten itself into, with little sign of anything else other than cherry-picking statistics by all parties and media outlets for political reasons. Shambles.
  6. One of the ECHR things is the right to a family life. No issues with that, but illegals can have that back in their home country, unless they have a valid asylum claim.
  7. The BBC got an interview with a Danish Defence Intelligence guy who partially agreed that Denmark has not been investing effectively or delivering already-promised investment. The guy mentioned some promised investment in 2019 that hasn't started in the audio I heard. The BBC has some text-based report that said: "Jakob Kaarsbo, a former Chief Analyst in the Danish Defense Intelligence Agency, told Danish broadcaster DR, the speech was a “political propaganda stunt”. He added, "It is true that Denmark has underinvested in the surveillance capabilities that have been agreed upon, but the US has also underinvested in their own military efforts in Greenland and in the Arctic for many years.” https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cwyd5zr20gdt#LiveReporting So there seems to be some partial truth in JD's comments, albeit it seems to be far from the whole truth. I'm sure JD might disagree with Jakob's assertion that the US has underinvested. Of course, I don't expect any politicians to be fully truthful so my comment is neither for nor against JD.
  8. I think he's just negotiating. That's all. Trying to see what he gets as he believes he has the upper hand. Is normal. It's up to Europe/USA/Ukraine to negotiate back, to show that he doesn't have the upper hand.
  9. Under potential upcoming British sentencing guidelines, it's possible that those of a different cultural background may get a much more lenient sentence. Crazy.
  10. Wonder if she can get extradited from China to Thailand? A 'kind of' swap for the Uighars... 😜
  11. I don't think today is the day for trolling anyone on this topic.
  12. Great words. Wonder what adjectives might get used for the actual actions taken and the quality of the enforcement?
  13. So, 4000 expats perving over the hot volleyball players then? 😜
  14. I've no idea why the RTP would waste time on this guy. Just deport him back to where he comes from; that'd surely be a big deterrent to the rest of the potential Russian criminals in Thailand?
  15. Yeah, the Bangkok system is good and easy to use. Lack of joined up payment is a pain, but is not the end of the world. Coverage is improving, but is not top tier just yet I think. Time Out Magazine did a survey around Asia and Hong Kong came out on top. No mention of Bangkok in their list, but it of course depends on who they actually asked. https://www.timeout.com/asia/news/the-nine-asian-cities-with-the-best-public-transport-according-to-time-out-032425
  16. Agree, but I don't have a massive amount of confidence in the UK Government's ability or willingness to reject these guidelines.
  17. The Civil Servants who are accountable for this fiasco should be fired. "The problem with attendance is proving it and what does attendance mean?" What an absolute joke.
  18. These debates always make me think about this cartoon. Me personally? I live with someone just now. Sometimes I regret it, but not for long. You get a "good one" (don't ask me to define), then the regrets are rare. Equally, I have lived on my own before for a few years, did not regret that as could always find 'company' if I wanted it. But there was definitely something missing. That's missing for me personally, and doesn't not mean it'd be missing for someone else. Biggest thing for me is to recognise any mental health issues that you have, and to find ways of mitigating those. Learn to look after yourself is a key thing. The person who left Bangkok to look after his liver is a good example.
  19. Finally!!! Some sense coming into this discussion!!!! 😆
  20. I assume the figures are correct. If, as stated elsewhere, it is also correct that Europe could not do to the Houthi what the US can, then surely Europe should be paying the US for its military support on a contract basis - separate EU and British invoices. And pay enough of a premium to help Europe realise that it needs to build up its own defensive and offensive capabilities so that it doesn't need to rely on the US. To be clear, I'm British. I've read nothing so far in these leaked messages that I fundamentally disagree with, apart from the craziness of them getting caught out in this schoolboy error-laden way. Europe has free-loaded off of the US for a very long time; it has to stop. I just hope the US politicians look at the big picture to see if there are downsides to this. I haven't looked at those risks, but there may be some in there ( I guess risks were found during the cold war to make the US think it was worthwhile sending its military to West Germany) and I'd rather middle ground can be found rather than the typical extremist right or left views. But paying for the military support seems entirely reasonable to me.
  21. Wonder when the first rubber dinghy tries to make it across the Atlantic to the UK...
  22. Yeah, good point. IATA has some guidance (https://www.iata.org/contentassets/05e6d8742b0047259bf3a700bc9d42b9/lithium-battery-guidance-document.pdf) and so does UPS for shipping separately. Basically none as cargo on a passenger plane. For a previous job I had to install some big battery supported power supplies. Shipping of the batteries was a pain, but ultimately there's a process, we followed it and the batteries arrived. They had to come by sea, so a long lead time.
  23. I can't see the point in the Philippines paying tax money to keep this scum alive. That said, perhaps he can be kept in a part of his prison where the other inmates need fresh meat?
  24. Seems like a sensible and measured response.
