Sadiq Khan Signals Potential Legal Battle Over Heathrow Expansion
Watawattana replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I guess he's entitled to go down the legal route. Will be a test of Labour's promises to stop pointless legal action. Not a single penny of tax payer money should be spent on such action though, and if they lose then they must pay all legal costs. Far better there's work to allay concerns and mitigate issues than delaying tactics. -
Phuket Police Implement New Anti-Drug Strategy: 35 Arrests Made
Watawattana replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
I know some Filipinos who have very strong positive views on the Duterte era, and how under Marcos drugs & corruption have made a very strong come back. One has a cousin who was a drug dealer. He got picked up by the Duterte police one night, told to never deal drugs again or face certain death within the next 3 days. He did the smart thing and immediately quit. He's still alive. Find and kill all the dealers using these people who are tested-positive as a route to them. Don't care if they are Thai or foreigner. -

50m Baht Casino Entry Requirement Up for Future Debate
Watawattana replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yeah! Wouldn't be surprised if the loser figure is more than 95% I used to look after the 2 fruit machines (slots) for a Club, and we set them to the best payout possible (90%). The legal minimum was around 70%. We netted nearly £90k a year, meaning close to £900k was being gambled per year by our punters. This was over 30 years ago. Those machines funded our entire operation meaning we could charge less for beer and snacks. We used to also subsidise trips to the theatre or sports events off of our profits. I've been to casinos in Missouri, London, Vegas and Macau. Have enjoyed myself every time. In the US I set a $200 loss limit (is what I could afford to lose). In maybe 6 trips I've triggered that stop point a couple of times, but I'm still down, probably not by that much, my last Vegas trip I did okay on blackjack. In London it was a £200 limit split between my ex and me. She lost all of her £100, I won £100 which meant we stayed even on the night. Macau is a whole level of craziness. Last time I looked their takings are 5 times that of Vegas. I've never seen the level of gambling in Vegas that I do in Macau. I'm not brave enough to sit in on a table & gamble. I try my luck on some the sic bo machines (a dice game, $20 HKD, 2GBP a go). Each time I play golf in Macau I go to a casino afterwards for some isotonic fluid replacement (Beer). The only gamble I do is $100 HK Dollars on the day of my birthday on roulette. In maybe 15 times there I've won 3 times, meaning I'm well up. The point of this? I understand gambling and would probably visit a Thai casino a few times, but I'd not be a big spender. So maybe I'm not their target audience. If the B50M limit is in then I can't visit, so they miss out. I don't know the odds on whether that matters or not; it should do as there'll be plenty of people like me who can't go. -

Lord Hermer accused of blocking Russian asset seizures for Ukraine
Watawattana replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I ask this as I'm unsure. The assets are frozen. Fine, I understand that. Is there a timescale on this "freeze" order, or is it permanent? Or is will it time out when relations with Russia get normalised again? If it's the latter and those assets have been liquidated and spent, won't there be a legal case that means the UK Government gets sued as although the assets were frozen, they were still owned by a Russian? If an asset is the fruit of an illegal act, then of course sell but I thought that needs a court order. -
Agent for renewing UK passport in Bangkok?
Watawattana replied to Batty's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
British can do it too. I did it recently with zero issues. But if someone wants to use an agent as they feel more comfortable then it's up to them. I won't be condescending to them. -
I'm a bit confused by your reply, but that may be my issue for not being fully clear. Maybe you didn't know that I'm not American so I come at this from a non-American viewpoint. No way I'd be disrespectful to an American because of their President and I can't see any reason for anybody to be so. Disagree with an individual for their views or behaviour, that's fair enough, but not for the actions or inactions of someone that was duly elected as per their constitution by millions of people.

UK ETA system rolls out ! Starts April 2nd
Watawattana replied to CharlieH's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Perhaps should be price-matched with what UK people are charged? E.g. should be £16 for US visitors to match what the US charges. -
I have pumped up many parts of the Thai economy. Most of them from Isaan.

Only utter idiots will make any ordinary American citizen a pariah because of their President. Whether it's Trump or Biden or any other President in history or in the future.

This is absolutely amazing. Such a simple thing for Trump to do to make this the best day of this kid's life. I hope the kid is able to battle his way past this cancer and come out the other side fit and healthy.
