  1. What did you actually do to learn? Did you go to a school and practice reading and writing? I ain’t rocket science.
  2. That’s right she said “farang” so husband knew it was a whitey the wife saw. If she said foreigner it could have been any race.
  3. Thanks for that. i have only been learning Thai for a year and haven’t learned any Issan language. I assumed it was pak as in vegetable. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
  4. I think we all should stand with the Thais here and boycott 7/11, Ford, Swensens, KFC, McDonalds and anything else American. It is all krap anyway. Donald Trump has blatantly lied about Thai tariffs on American goods. He is a complete and utter scumbag.
  5. If this guy wins then this will go on for years. Mayors and Pooyai Baans often have to attend the same local events. Grab the popcorn.
  6. Exactly so the wife using “foreigner” is not as precise as “farang”
  7. Then you would have had to ask what type of foreigner? Burmese, Chinese, Indian, or a farang?
  8. Americans are the most over sensitive people on the planet when it comes to race sensitivity. They even use the expression “n- word” instead of just saying it, unless you are one of course then you can make a song and dance about it. Listen to your wife, she is talking sense.
  9. I am sure we all do. But some people love complaining and are always looking to be offended by something.
  10. Ok snowflake. Have you ever used the word farang yourself?
  11. Only ง and maybe ป for the consonants. And a few vowels, but again, four year olds master it in about a week. Watch this and you will be good to go in 5 minutes
  12. Unless you live in Thailand where everyone speaks it. A long list of excuses.
  13. Which is why you learn Thai script. it is easy, four year olds can do it. And when you do you will see that unlike English it is usually pronounced as it is written.
  14. Farang used daily in print news and television No it isn’t, and are not used in print news or TV
  15. You were the poster this morning complaining you were locked up with the “Asians”
  16. What a plonker. Farang means Caucasian.
  17. Stop being such a god damn snowflake. Honestly, some people just spend all their time looking to be offended by something.
  18. A very simple formula. http://www.thai-language.com/ref/tone-rules
  19. Very true. There is definitely a “scene” here with the expats that have married the hookers socializing together. After about the third drink in they all revert to “bar Thailish”, talk about “boom boom” etc. I think most of the hookers that have married expats after the third drink kicks in think they are back at work.
  20. I do know you can not follow a conversation in Thai in Thailand. And you rely on the sugar coated watered down translation from your wife. You can’t possibly know what is going on around you which is the definition of naive.
