She chickens out of interviews. I recall they always blame Trump for that, over and over again, until it get tiresome -

And who told you Thai only? And before you ridicule me again, Krungsri clearly mentions in their terms and conditions which accounts are for Thai nationals only -

Bank Savings Interest Rates 2023
CallumWK replied to kiko11's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
That is pretty lousy for a 4 yer term deposit, because according to @Pattaya57 post you can get 2.9% for 2 years. And i start to ask myself the question, what is behind the interest increasing lately, because BOT hasn't raised the interest rates. Time to get careful? -
I learned not to ask branch managers, as I know they make up new rules on the spot, but now directly call head office when I need that info. CIMB has accounts which every foreigner can open, accounts for foreigners with pink card only, and accounts for Thai only. Their deposit rates and terms and conditions are available in English. The senior term account is for individuals with Thai identification, which means foreigners with pink card. The special 7 month fixed term is open to all foreigners.

Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
CallumWK replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Similar experience for me,,,,,,,,,,,,,only I didn't travel to BKK at all, just went back the next day with a translation of my passport done in soi post office, and a certificate of residence I had earlier obtained from immigration to buy a car. Spoke to different person at the amphur and 30 minutes later all was signed and picked up yellow book the next day. Hadn't bothered with witnesses either -
There are no banks that have an ATM linked to a fixed term account. CIMB has an app, so you can transfer the balance from your savings account to an account that has an ATM. Takes 5 seconds. I agree that there are very few branches, but once an account has been opened, there is no need to visit the branch again. For me the importance is spreading my savings over as many banks as possible, instead of have it all in 1 bank, which then goes tits up

Incorrect, The guarantee is 1 million per bank, not per individual. And government banks, like government savings bank, have no limit on the deposit guarantee There were times it was the opposite. There are equities that increased 100% over the same period. In hindsight, all advice is easy given.
-
There is a difference between individuals with a Thai identification number (foreigners with pink card can open) and Thai nationals only.(foreigners can not open) CIMB, same as other banks, will have such accounts.
-
My 5 satang here, if you had read my posts, you would have known that I called headoffice already and they confirmed i could open the account
-
Maybe you should not think about going anywhere . See what I did there?

It is the same with UOB and about every other Thai bank. Thai banks discriminate a lot, especially in the higher interest paying accounts, which they make available to Thai nationals only.
-
This I fail to understand. CIMB is a bank like all others in Thailand, so why would nobody use them if they didn't pay more interest? Some accounts are Thai nationality only, same as many higher interest accounts at all Thai banks. I have learned that all Thai bank managers make up their own rules, so now I only talk with the head offices only about the conditions, then ask them to inform the branch I intend to visit. CIMB has a 12 month fixed senior account, as per the OP, that needs Thai identification, not Thai nationality. They have a 7 month fixed 2% account that foreigners can open.

Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
CallumWK replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I got my tax ID about 3 - 4 years after I got my pink card. Completely different numbers. My Pink ID has saved me many certificates of residence not needed, for driver license and other facilities. I wanted to open a 1.9% term deposit with CIMB, which required to be an individual with a Thai identification number. The pink ID card was sufficient, otherwise no account. I have accounts with other banks that required a pink card, otherwise no account. GSB and Bangkok bank are just 2 of them. I have registered post paid phone number, for which I needed the pink card, otherwise no postpaid. There are many other things I was only able to do because I have a pink card -
Pre-paid Credit Card
CallumWK replied to connda's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I recall Kasikorn offered me one several years ago with the same conditions. Maybe now they changed. UOB offered me one without any security, I only had to prove that I also had deposits in other banks, but I didn't need to lock up any funds. I declined the offer coz I don't need a CC, i have an online DC, and that is all I need, as i prefer cash or pay with scan code -
Obviously my ad is on marketplace, and they have a FB account, otherwise they would not be able to send me the first message. So why want to switch to Line if they can ask the same questions in messenger? BTW, the first one who asked, I complied and sent message on Line. She read the message and never replied
-
Now about every reply I get is asking to contact them on Line, just got the 6th one. Obviously something isn't right there. Anyone an idea why the ask for Line?

There is only 1 red wire that get current from one of the appliances, and that one is insulated already, all the others feed something. I intend to remove them all and then use just 1 MCB, and connect 1 wire at the time, then check which light or socket works, and mark the wire. I have a multimeter. I don't really understand the principle of a borrowed neutral, because after all they all connect to the same neutral bar. To check on borrowed neutral I assume that only can be done above the ceiling in the junction boxes. Is that correct, because if so that will require an electrician
-
I have started removing wires from the MCB's, as 2-4 and 5 had each 2 or 3 wires attached, and now are trying to find out where each wire leads to by providing power individually. I found one wire that comes out of the wall, which has 230V on it when MCB 2 or 4 are closed. That wire was attached to MCB 5. I have for the time being that one cut off
-
Is that for CIMB Thai? Seems a good rating as think most Thai banks are only BB.
-
I'm aware of that, but since deposit guarantee is only 1 million baht per bank now, I try to spread my savings over as many banks as possible.
