Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
CallumWK replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It will never happen, simply because they have no legal rights for it. I know the example of the US has been brought up, but that is something completely different, as it only applies to US citizens or residence holders. We are not citizens in Thailand. Your home country actually could make it legal to tax you on the money you earn in Thailand regardless if you transfer it or not, but not vice versa -
OK because you asked for it. Global warming is a natural cycle, and nothing can stop it, regardless of how much money the politicians and their friends can pull out of your pocket with their taxes. Take note, I'm not denying it is happening, but is earth warming and earth cooling has been happening as long as earth exist, and last time I checked thousands of years ago there was no damaging industry or whatever else they claim the reason is

European Elections Spark Political Upheaval Across the Continent
CallumWK replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yes disturbing for the wokes. Right wing parties are gaining massively everywhere in the world. As far as I'm aware, the majority is rarely wrong. In my country there were also local and federal elections, and the right wing got 22.7% of the votes, while the biggest party got 24% of the votes. Also a record 12% of eligible voters didn't turn up. -
Thai car sales plunge; luxury market hit amid economic woes
CallumWK replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Because they own a house in a company name, which files a fake return every year, doesn't make them real business owners. And if those return now start showing a balance 5 or 10 times what they usually were, just for the purpose of deducting that new car, the government may actually wake up and have a look at the past 10 years. You are ware that they can go back 10 years? -

Thai car sales plunge; luxury market hit amid economic woes

Sales are currently being propped up by “fleet” purchases courtesy of massive government subsidies that allow employees to write off the cost of leasing against income tax. The UK’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate requires 52 per cent of new cars to be EVs by 2028, rising to 80 per cent by 2030 and 100 per cent by 2035. I guess Hertz is not active in the UK ? -

So 2-3 EV's in Udon is an explosion? Well there maybe a real explosion involving an EV one of the days. You realise since you see them always at the same school, it is likely it are the same 2-3 ones every time? -
Aren't we old enough yet to know that everything the Chinese claim is fake? I was looking at outdoor solar light the other day, and it said IP65 waterproof, as all those lights from China claim. Then in the reviews there was a picture from the received item, and it said in big letters IP44. I have done a lot of business with China in the last 15 years, and I still have to get one single item that has the spec as claimed by the manufacturer

Thai Tourism Revenue to Hit 3 Trillion Baht, Falls Short of Goal

When after only 5 months they already know they not gonna reach their 12 month target, then I think this will not be the last downgrade for the year -
And you are the perfect example of your claim, since you think there is a need to ALWAYS include every extensive OP in your one line replies

Land Dept Revises Guidelines for Foreign Ownership of Land
CallumWK replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Can I ask where you would be living? $1 million is not what it was. It will barely buy a house in the US or UK. 40 million baht is more than $1 million to start with, but also it means you must have a lot more than that. You need 40 million to lock up for 3 years, on top of the money to buy the land and build the house, and living expenses for at least 3 years. Sounds more like you will need like 80 million baht to be able to buy 1 Rai of land in your name. BTW, everything in the OP is known to me for many years, so where are the changes? -
Item arrived today, but no worky. Occasionally it will stop the gate, but most of the time not, so return to sender

366 - 180 = 186 Anyway I'm sure you are a troll, because why would the time of flight out of Thailand on the 157th day of the year be a concern. You have to get better at trolling mate -

I think you must be looking in the wrong places. I get between 1.8 and 2.25% on my saving accounts in Thailand, depending on which bank, since I spread my savings for security reasons. These are regular savings accounts which I can withdraw every day. If I choose for fixed time deposits, I can get a higher interest -

Pita Declares His Readiness to Succeed Srettha as Prime Minister
CallumWK replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
That you consider the word obvious as an insult, in your case, speaks for itself. Using the words EXTREME right, for a party which didn't resort to any extreme action, just adds to it all. -

The Netherlands PVV party already formed a coalition. Nowhere in any democratic country in the world, the army has the last word in who forms the coalition, and that is what you still don't want to understand for obvious reasons -

But in all those countries, the party with the most votes gets to form the coalition. -
I wonder why my posts, which were actually just some facts and evidenced by an article, attracted so many confused emojis. Since all posts from other members, which don't agree with the EV hype, attract the same confused emojis it is obvious that they are from the EV fanboys and explains why they are so into the EV hype and consider themselves EV experts because they own one. con·fused /kənˈfyo͞ozd/ adjective adjective: confused (of a person) unable to think clearly; bewildered. Similar: demented • not in possession of all one's mental faculties, especially because of old age

EV's are fairly new to Thailand, so it is normal that there is still an increasing interest here, similar to anywhere in the world when EV's were introduced. After the "new" factor has sunk in, sales fall everywhere. https://rogermontgomery.com/ev-sales-decline-leads-to-more-ev-sales-declines/ Even in Norway, the fourth largest EV market in Europe, where EV sales comprise 90 per cent of all vehicle sales thanks to incentives and tax reductions, EV registrations have halved. Perhaps saturation has something to do with Norway’s story. In the UK, which now leads Europe in electric vehicle sales, March saw an increase of almost four per cent and an increase of almost 10 per cent in the first quarter. Despite this growth, the UK EV market share has fallen slightly from 16.6 per cent to 15.2 per cent in the last year. Yes it reads good for the EV fanboys when the figures show high percentages increase in sales. FYI, if year over year sales increase from 100 to 200, that is a 100% rise, but it still means nothing. Because you are a EV fanboy, and probably own one, doesn't make you knowledgeable about them. I own a PC, but that doesn't make me a computer expert.

New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
CallumWK replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just my 2 cents worth. I have spoken with 2 departments of the revenue office in jomtien. First the department which do the collection of the taxes, who because they couldn't answer my questions, directed me to the legal department, where I spoke with the top man. I asked him, how do I prove that what I send over are savings or income. Answer: You don't have to prove, we believe you. Question: If so everyone gonna claim it are savings Answer: Yes but if we do an audit and find it is income, you will be fined. Question: So in such a case, how do I prove that is are savings. Answer: you don't need to prove, we believe you, you don't even need to declare savings. At that point, I thought it was better to let it go- 696 replies
