  1. The penalty for drunk driving isn't that high here. You know what to do Thailand.
  2. This has been my experience as well. Sometimes I'll snarl or growl at the dog and this scares the girl I'm with as well; sometimes even more than the dogs. The pretend to pick up a rock trick is 99% effective though and is usually my sole tactic.
  3. @VocalNeal hey thanks for the great response. How do you get around the cops taking your bike though? I was told even changing the color was illegal... I also read that modified bikes are basically impossible to travel with into other countries like Laos. No idea if any of this is true or just Thai hearsay.
  4. Well guys I'm here and it looks like there's just a small police checkpoint where they stop cars and bikes about 100m from the official trail entrance. Easy to avoid but still kind of lame. Walk up the main road to the temple (the one bicyclists take).
  5. Britbongs would rather put a person in jail for a conservative fb comment than deport a dangerous immigrant. Same story in Europe - it's so over for the West. Is Sharia law inevitable?
  6. I know someone who's working at an international school teaching chemistry with a chemistry degree from the US. He never mentioned anything about being a certified teacher though... is he illegal?
  7. I'm seeing some for as low as 20K on fb - I'm thinking of just getting an old beater and customizing it. Anything wrong with this plan? My goal is to continue traveling around the country and then later into Laos.
  8. How about used? definitely getting a new seat, was also thinking of new brakes and clutch plate because I want to buy used.
  9. Also, what year and mileage would you aim for? Would you get any work done at a mechanic? Any custom modifications?
  10. Feel like I'm seeing a lot more western dudes on laptops in cafes than ever before. Any oldheads notice a difference?
  11. Don't strawman me, people can comment on whatever they want. My point is that he's meaningless risking his freedom over virtually nothing. The government is manipulating and silencing the media? Shocker! It's just stupid. What's even more asinine is that he's posting all this under his real name instead of anonymously. Either he's an old fool or desperate for clout. And I went through his substack; you don't see him complaining about Australia, how they're selling out their own people to Indians and Chinese. It's all just complaining about SEA.
  12. Skimming through his articles they seem fairly tame. He's just calling out a shady corporation, nothing new in SEA. Not really sure why some foreigners insist on doing this political stance thing when their own country is a dumpster fire.
  13. If you want bicarbonates dump some baking soda into your next smoothie
  14. That's an insane reason and even more insane to admit it
  15. Did they ever successfully implement a fee for this trail? If so, how tight is the security? The trail has a lot of access points such as the fire station and cafe, or the waterfall by the road. Has anyone here hiked it since October 1st?
  16. It does, thanks for the thorough response
  17. I'm assuming this is a private school, what about around regular Thais? Would you anticipate any bullying?
  18. Now in 2025, what is the general attitude of half-Thais in Thailand? Have you or your kids noticed any discrimination growing up mixed race? I'm especially curious about areas outside of Bangkok, which feels pretty international and easy to blend into. Just want to know what I'm in for.
  19. It's a stupid change but honestly good; if less tourists come Thailand will be better off in the long run. Pretty much everything old timers here complain about (e.g. the decline of the good old days) can be attributed to over-tourism and all the greed that comes with it.
  20. That's going too far. Cruel and unusual punishment
  21. First they laugh at you for believing "conspiracies", then they proclaim 10 years later that this is just how things are done and there's no point in continuing any outrage. This is exactly why the West doomed.
  22. Damn Australia too? The West can't catch a break haha. Who knew changing the demographics of a nation then demoralizing them with a non-stop barrage of disturbing media would make people so antisocial?
  23. Maybe she's not a massive 🐈 like you
  24. Because leaders of the West have collectively decided to sell out their own kinsmen to save a few shekels. If this happened in Asia there would be riots on the streets. White people have been successfully pacified, they won't do anything but grumble online.
