If it weren't for the blocks of ice in the water, I'd almost enjoy a day of it. Not 3-4 days of it with all the ice.

MAFCA Make America Follow the Constitution Again.

There are four reasons for my dislike of Trump and his rule; My son, and his two sons, and the rest of America. They will inherit what he leaves in his wake. So far, with just 8 weeks in, he's set back what millions have worked and struggled for the past 50 years to improve. MAFCA Make America Follow the Constitution Again

Unless you're a gamer, or wish to do several hours of heavy video/graphics work each day, it will be fine. Perfect for email, business letters, watching videos, etc.

Thai Ranger Calls Out Italian Tourists for Damaging Coral Reefs
FolkGuitar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Years ago, before Koh Tao was so popular, and its neighboring island of Koh Nanuan had only a small noodle shop... no beach chairs, no noise, no crowds... But in the bay on the west side of the island, in about 18m of water, was a HUGE Barrel Sponge! It must have been 50-75 years old. It was big enough for a diver to actually drop down completely inside without touching the walls of the sponge. Perhaps 2.5 meters tall and at least one meter inside, with red colored walls about 60cm thick, it was beautiful to see, and an oft-visited dive venue... ... until a Thai tour ship (which used to bring a few hundred Bangkok Thais down for a one-hour swim there every day,) decided to drop its anchor right on top of the Barrel Sponge and completely destroy it. Italian tourists are a problem? Really? -
Pai's Big Bust: 7 Tourists Nabbed for Public Cannabis Use
FolkGuitar replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai
"In public." Just WTF does that mean, legally? If you are smoking a joint while standing under a tree in the middle of a public forest, with no people for 50km, is that still 'in public?' A beach with no one near you for 500m? Is that private enough or still public? How about a small soi at 2 am with no one around? Is that 'in public.' It's certainly not private! Just how many people have to be just how close to you for you NOT to be 'in public' when smoking? Is the law that they can't 'smell' you smoking or 'see' you smoking? Both seem to piss off a lot of people. Just knowing people are smoking cannabis is enough to send some people around the twist! Perhaps a definition of the law might be of some interest, some clarification BEFORE arrests are made? -
If you can't keep a big bike under control in ALL riding conditions, fast or slow, you are not a decent rider. It's THAT simple. Hell, just to pass the Big bike license exam in Japan you have to ride a 20cm wide 2cm thick plank, very slowly, for 15 meters in MORE than 10 seconds without falling off. You are required to ride a Figure-8 without touching the line. The average number of attempts to pass the test is 6 attempts. Even the CHP, when they came for a visit, didn't pass the riding test on their first try. No... if you can't handle your bike, regardless of its size, you are NOT a decent rider. There are many small Japanese women in the motorcycle police corps in Japan. They have no trouble with big bikes, even at traffic lights.

Best to date! Finally a well-written piece of interesting fiction. Whoever this 'Bob' is, he should get to wear the name. However, any decent bike rider knows enough not to tailgate, especially on a street where the drivers are all rubber-necking, trying to pick out their pumps for the night. This guy is NOT a biker, despite his fancy leathers.

Busted! Housemaid Caught Red-Handed in Shocking Thai Theft Scandal
FolkGuitar replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I remember being surprised when I first moved to Thailand, looking at furniture and noticing that virtually everything had locks on it! Every drawer, every wardrobe, even those glass and metal kitchen cabinets. It gave me a clue as to one aspect of the culture. -
Thailand Cracks Down: Police to Monitor Foreign Nationals Closely
FolkGuitar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Let's have another meeting! And let's face facts... to do this, the police will need to put more people on the streets enforcing laws. That's far more dangerous than setting up a table on a street corner with 10 cops and a roadblock and stopping confused tourists for not having an IDP so it's not going to happen. -
Absolutely! If you're not, you are just throwing away money. Easily triple the lifespan of ANY disposable cartridge by stropping before each use. Why do you think barbers do it?!? Just get a nice piece of shell cordovan horsehide and glue it to a stick. No need for anything fancy. 10-15 strokes on the strop before shaving removes all the oxidation that has built up overnight or overweek, depending, and gives a much more comfortable shave.

I said Dutch-processed cocoa powder, NOT deodorized. I hope you find what you need.
-
You can find Dutch-processed cocoa powders such as Lindt or Ghirardelli, or Van Hughton, and other cocoa powder everywhere. Some folks even prefer Hershey's. For Cocoa butter, search for 'African Cocoa Butter - deodorized food grade.'
-
I started making my own. I made half a kilo yesterday, with almonds. Good quality cocoa powder, good quality cocoa butter, sweetener of choice, a pinch of salt, and a lick of vanilla. Takes about 15 minutes and 1/2 the price of good quality chocolate bars! (P.S. If you prefer Milk Chocolate, add in powdered milk!) Sometimes, necessity is a Motha!

Was it your experience with Harry's Razors that formed the basis for your comments? Or your lack of experience with Harry's Razors? Do you strop your razor before use? If not, why weren't you taught how to use them correctly? Professionals (barbers, hair stylists, etc. people who cut hair for a living) all do. 'Opinions' are fine, but only when based on facts and experience. Otherwise, they're just wrong. Try Harry's Razors and then come back and give us your 'informed' opinion. We'll listen.
-
'Harry's Razors.' Buy once and never look back. Three cartridges last me about a year, BUT.... I do strop them between uses. That is the key to getting a really comfortable shave. I also use them with a shaving gel rather than a soap. You can strop on the palm of your hand, or use an old leather belt. Both work well and triple the lifespan of any blade.

I'm quoting you because it's accurate. 70 million American pawns. They were just stupid. Many still are but the number seems to be dropping quickly. But perhaps 70 million and one... I wonder who is pulling Trump's strings.

Just how ridiculous can it get?

You 'hope' people are being harmed? People you don't even know. People living and enjoying their time in the North and you wish them serious illness? What kind of a person are you? -
Are high end smartphones worth the money (to you)?
FolkGuitar replied to impulse's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Very important to me! My hearing aids were designed specifically to interface with an iPhone. I can control all aspects of the devices, including answering the telephone just by tapping the right-side hearing aid, changing sound programs from 'Music' to 'Restaurant' to Outdoors in Wind, and several others that I've personalized and can access through my iPhone. It utilizes the GPS to change programs to fit my location. It 'will' work a bit with an Android phone, but severely limit what it can do. -
Vegans always tell us (after they announce that they ARE Vegan,) that we are cruel to kill animals for our food. They say they refuse to do that... None of them have ever plowed a field to grow those vegan veggies, killing dozens of field mice, voles, moles, shrews, deer mice, and destroying only God knows how many different animal homes. Every time a farmer plows a field they die. Vegans = it's OK to kill ugly, creepy animals, just not the cute ones.

The prime reason for security is because of the threat of kidnapping, not assassination. If he's kidnapped, US national security will be threatened because of all the top-secret sensitive data that can be extracted during advanced interrogation techniques. You don't really think Felon-47 gives a damn if his opponents live or die. And just as obviously, he doesn't care if the USA survives as a democratic republic. When is he going to declare himself 'President for Life?" He's already trying to change the 22nd Amendment.

It would be comical to see such blatant absurdity displayed for all to see if it weren't so indicative of today's MAGA mindset; "The poor are bad. Everyone knows they are criminals. Get them away from Good People! Let the rich remain. They are the honest, decent ones." ... and now half of America believe this insanity because it gives them a scapegoat for all their problems. Gotta hand it to him... Felon-47 is a good salesman. Shi!!y president but good salesman. Just like the German guy in the '30s.
