  1. In Phuket, no driving license is 1000 baht, no helmet is 500 baht, and no bike registration is either 500 or 1000 baht. I have been hit with all of these on site fines. These are an awesome money maker for the police and do little to make the roads safer.
  2. I think you can find okay/good wines from about 450+ baht at Villa Market. At that price point Australian and Chilean wines offer good value. Family Mart has some good enough wines (e.g. Gato Negro at 480 baht). Good on Family Mart. Winepro's offerings are more expensive (say 600 baht and up), but are much better quality. I would highly recommend people to go to a Winepro and take a look at what they sell.
  3. And this assumes that the building even gets built. Some don't, and where does the money flow?
  4. Both times an hour in Chalong. A few years ago I was asked to make a police report before the bank would issue a new bank card.
  5. Something similar to this has happened to me twice in the past 6 months. Some ATMs are bad news. Both times I never lost money. Then you need to go to the bank to get a new card, which takes a long time.
  6. Opening scene to Shakes the Clown.
  7. Go to a language school or two and see if they can set you up with a stay based on taking Thai language classes. You will need some time on your passport to allow the school to go through the process. I am thinking 5 weeks. The school needs to get permission from the Thai Education ministry and this takes time. Thai language lessons are fun. Best of luck.
  8. Tom Yum, Pak Bung Fai Dang, and Yam Khai Kem are 3 of my favorites.

  10. Using your PIN number should suffice. I am happy when stores ask for something when I use my credit card. Photo of a passport on your phone would likely be good enough.
  11. Many Thais I know are messy. They don't care about bad appearances or smells. Dirty laundry and garbage bags pile up, so be it.
  12. Way too many stray dogs and cats in Phuket. My compound is FULL of them. Also, lack of a down vote is killing the Aseannow forum. I, for one. am losing interest.
  13. If you haven't paid the road tax/vehicle registration renewal for several years, you will need to pay for it retroactively. If haven't done for 3 years, then you can expect to need to pay for 3 years (3x500baht). The inspection places have a yellow cogwheel on their sign, as KhunBENQ says.
  14. Get your scooter road taxed and then let her ride it. The bike needs to go to the road tax place with your green book. Costs about 500 baht/year. Your lady friend could do that for you.
  15. She crashed through the barrier to beat the train. Who does that? She was drunk is my guess.
  16. China has been building at a quick pace for a long time. The large cities have so many high rises going up. Even without covid, severe market problems were eventually going to happen. Can't build like that forever.
  17. City asks Brighton about a transfer for Cucurella and offers 30 million. Brighton says no way, we want 50. City says sorry can't do. And then Chelsea pays 62 plus a cut rate deal on Gilmour and a year loan of Colwill. It's like there is different prices for different teams. Chelsea and M United get to pay the most.
