Senators Petition Court to Consider Impeaching PM Srettha
SmokeandIce replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I understand that Thai's must determine their own path; however, it seems to be entitled to say you don't care about the Thai people. I won't be protesting on the streets, but I will use my voice to object to blatant corruption and injustice; it is not wrong to have empathy and sympathy.- 62 replies

Bangkok electric bill seems really high - is someone tapping into our line?
SmokeandIce replied to davb's topic in Bangkok
My suggestion to reducing electric cost is when you run the air conditioning, set the temp a few degrees C lower and use eith a fan. This works for me. -

The post is about the man's child, nothing to do with your three nationalities nor your disdain for Thai citizenship. Move along. -
65K Monthly Method for Retirement Visa
SmokeandIce replied to SportRider's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As mentioned before, much depends on what immigration office you use. When I was going from visa exempt to 3 month Non-O, Chaeng Wattana would not accept the monthly THB 65,000 for 12 months; the only two options were THB 800,000 in a Thai bank or a letter from one of the few foregn embassies that still offer this. For any 12 month Non-O extensions, CW accepts either THB 800,000 (seasoned) or 12 months of THB 65,000. -
Non O Retirement Visa
SmokeandIce replied to Highlander61's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It has been 5 years so maybe Bangkok Bank has changed policy, but when I got a new passport, I had to go to Bangkok Bank and have passport number changed with many signatures and many photocopies. -
Not sure about the Thai embassy in Vientiane but Immigrations at Chaeng Wattana will not accept the THB 65,000+ 12 monthly deposits to issue the 90 day Non-O; they will only accept THB 800,000+ in a Thai bank. Chaeng Wattana will accept either for the one year extension but not for the 3 month Non-O.

Can't you just block them outright ?

I lost my Non O of 10 years after being locked out during Covid. When I finally returned on a visa exempt, I applied for a new Non O at Chaeng Wattana; however, the office would not accept the twelve months of THB 65,000 as financial proof. They would only accept THB 800,000 in a Thai bank account. Once I was issued the three month Non O, I could extend for one year using the THB 65,000 monthly deposit.

I can honestly say that I have never kicked anyone, much less a woman, i have never illegally owned a gun nor have I ever ignored an ambulance. These 3 actions are not normal.

I have lived in Thonburi across the river from Bangkok for over 10 years and during that time I have been going to the same small local barbershop. When I first went there, haicuts were THB 100 and I always tipped 40 baht. A few years back, the cost of a went up to 120 baht; understandable and no big deal. Today I went in fot a haircut and a sign read "haircuts 200 baht." A big jump I thought but it is what it is. My Thai friend was with me and he told me the price for Thai is still 120 baht; only the cost for non Thai is 200. I think I will change barbers, wondering if I should tell them why.

For most types of external radiation, treatments are given 5 days a week in an outpatient center, for at least several weeks. I was advised 29 sessions by Samitivej, Phyathai, Bangkok Hospital and Chula.
