Therein lays the answer. I did my non o ext renewal a few days ago and had lots of problems. It seems there is a lot of pressure from head office making it difficult for honest expats but due to corruption among officers and the Chinese you speak of. Usually my renewals go through like a breeze after doing them for over 10 years, but this year the (new) officer tore mine to bits finding all sorts of things to pick on. I firmly believe he was not being an <deleted> but following orders under pressure. He was not happy with the pics around the house, picked on the angles taken, the house number was not permanant and had to be burnt into wood or made of steel etc etc. Just too damn fussy. Also had to have two attempts at the bank letter even with telephone instructions from the imm officer and the bank. The map had to be precisely from our front door step to the Imm Office front door. Maybe the unusual visits are due to the same pressure from above.

The guy who should have been jailed but ended up showing up staying at some holiday camp in Sattahip? Wouldnt believe a word this criminal says. However I do think he will go back to jail and back to hospital again, and maybe again, while those in charge ascertain what the public and the international think about it all. Thaksin I think has indeed done a deal, possibly paid back what he stole plus interest, maybe even a pledge to stay out of politics. But it cant be made too obviuous. Those in charge will take their time, maybe even set up a few diversions of attention, until he is allowed free through fabricated ill health, royal pardon, or government sanction. He will go free.

At least the druggies were shot on sight and not the slow suffering inflicted on the Muslim protesters who were bound and stacked on top of each other in sea containers without water or any ventilation while shipped off to prison. Now I could be miles (km's) out but with my limited understanding of how Thais think and their pre-occupation with money I imagine things have gone this way: Thaksin has planned the timing considering the political vacuum at the moment to ask the powers in charge if he can come back and be with his family during his last days on earth. Those in charge reply by saying Thaksin you are a criminal who has been convicted of using your position in government to gain financially thus robbing the Thai people and you need to pay for that crime. And here we have the classic position where in Thailand you either serve your time or you pay for not doing it. Thaksin has the cash to pay plus appropriate (exhorbitant) interest rates and fines. Thaksin will get to go free but not in a hurry so as to make it look at least the tinyest bit legit like Thaksin's health suffering etc etc. And just to make sure he doesnt re-offend Thaksin will pledge he has decided to retire from politics (aka banned). Thaksin has paid but now he is fatigued from signing all those cheques and stressed about whether or not those in charge will keep their end of the deal. Just my thoughts.

A Swedish friend of a friend died the other day in a Thai prison. Went in at 120 kg and was 60 when he died. No talk of fans, faulty a/c or even meds after he ran out of them. He just died in there. Gee Thaksin, I hope you will be ok. I mean, surely all prisoners are treated alike?

I think you are being highly unfair there, Pattaya BIB have always been known as good earners.

I firmly believe in karma. An example: As a child I had a very poor bladder to brain response rate or maybe it was my faulty family surroundings but the result was that I often wet my pants in first years of school and continued to wet the bed till I was about 8 years old. It was extremely embarrassing to the point I often woke early and would climb up into the old laundry trough and wash my sheets before the family awaoke but they knew. My father would get angry and threaten me whereas my brother, 3 years older, would tease and torment me about it. He used to call me Piddle-o and made sure all of our friends and relatives knew. We went to the same school and there he went out of his way to let everyone know in front of me. He often used to beat me or sit on my chest and spit in my face. It was never ending. I recall telling him in anger one day that I couldnt wait till I was bigger than him to pay him back. Well I never did grow bigger than him over the years but I did hear a couple of years ago he had a battle with bladder cancer which left him with only half a bladder and no control over it at all thus requiring him to wear an adult nappy full time!

Its just the same with kids still dying locked in school vans. Those responsible jump up in shock and have crackdowns when it happens which last 5 minutes till another avoidable incident happens. Its not easy ripping off kids school lunches and watching the kids at the same time.

Exactly same with me. I had heard of shingles but didnt know its relaionship with chicken pox till a mate of mine came down with it two weeks ago. I had never heard of the vaccine till reading this thread. I will have to enquire about it as I dont want to go thru what my mate did.

He may be intelligent, he may be articulate, he may be a good businessman but we are talking about the actor and I stick to my earlier opinion and that is that he is a drop kick as an actor. Just my opinion.
