No coercion tactic, its about funding and money that is given to countries.  The US does not want to be complicit with Human Trafficking, and therefore has many procedures in place.

    https://www.state.gov/u-s-relations-with-thailand/

The United States contributed $17.7 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Thailand in 2019, making it the third-largest foreign investor after Japan ($70 billion) and Singapore ($30 billion).

The funding is to gain influence and leverage.  If that fails then the next step is trade threats.

Now we have options now ThaiFelix---can remember the days when everything was closed---freezing if you stepped outside--and with a huge captive audience, the BBC  would put on hours of absolute  <deleted>---round the day off with an hour some bishop telling you how lucky you are and another hour of hymns .....so a 20 year old movie seemed a good escape.... As far as the BBC goes not a lot of change.

    All hail the internet.........:coffee1:

The next announcement due in the next couple of weeks is the ‘sloppy shoulders’ one….. “the pollution is not from Thailand but from neighboring countries”….  (Usually in early Jan !).

There will also be an announced crackdown on roads deaths following the usual NYE spike due to DUI.

The juvenile mindset of those in positions of power are nothing if not anything other than predictable!!!

No,no, no its all a misunderstanding.  The govt has it all under control, they said so last month, and last year and year before and every year for the more than 20 Ive been here.  You just have to be patient ..........or suffocate.

Something for all the potential "quality tourists" to look forward to.

If he had been a well heeled 'quality tourist' he would have bought the nice Thai man a case of beer and all this commotion avoided.  And as a high ranking police officer said after a similar case years ago  "If the farang was not here in Thailand in the first place, none of this would have happened so the farang is at fault".

I am finally starting to comprehend Thai logic......maybe time to leave lol!

    Thailand needs high quality tourists

If you want high quality tourists you need to provide high quality services eg

High quality ladyboys who pick pocket you in the streets, not old uglies

High quality immigration officers that fleece you if you want to stay longer,

High quality gem scams instead ofd the tired ones at Wat Po

High quality national Parks where double pricing robs you blind

High quality bar girls who actually go to the hotel with you after instead of only scamming you for drinks and tips all night

High quality coral you can touch before hitting you with high quality fines

High quality jet skis yo get scammed for repairs even though you only sat on it for holiday snaps

High quality drains to fall down or low power lines to decapitate you

The list goes on and on.

Everywhere is a black spot for Thai drivers ! I wonder what the excuse will be next year , we have worn out brake fail , trees on the line and elephants crossing , barriers coming down at the wrong time at crossings.

Could be snow on the road but deffo. not up here.

No the latest is mistaking the accelerator pedal for the brake apparently, according to recent accident reports.

why don't you just have the right amount ready? you know the delivery is coming within the hour so have cash ready.

Reminds of an American who got off a baht bus and expected to pay with a 1000 baht note

Agreed.  Lazada's confirmation of order email clearly states simple steps of what you have to do next, like they are writing to a 2 year old, including that you need to have exact amount ready for the driver.  And as others have said you have days to organise the cash before delivery so no excuse really.

I am a regular buyer on Lazada and my wife is a seller.  She uses Flash, who are excellent, after giving Best (what a joke) the flip.  Likewise for me, as a buyer, Flash always come through.  I wouldnt waste my time with Kerry, always problems such as often dropping my orders off where ever they like in the village (now I only use COD) or goods showing up crushed even though covered in fragile stickers.

    "The Rescue"

Interesting point that in the documentary was quickly passed over.

After all the options had been considered, the British team decided the only way to get the boys out was to drug and dive them out, so they wouldn't panic and drown, someone casually mentioned to the team leader that this had better work or they would be in serious trouble with the Thai judiciary.

The response from the team leader was that secret arrangements were in place that if things did go wrong the team would be whisked off to somewhere safe and out of the country ASAP.

     :shock1:

Yep I reckon they would have been taken out via the Yingluck/Boss Highway lol!
