  1. If Bangkok floods there's flooding, if not there's no flooding.
  2. If it's anything like schools worldwide then many of the returning kids will go down with covid. I have 6 grandchildren back in the UK and 2 have caught covid. The eldest, 13, was diagnosed just last week and thankfully only seems to have a case of the sniffles but from reports many of the students in her school have tested positive and sadly a couple of the grandparents are in a very bad way after catching it too. My wife and I are both fully vaccinated so not too many worries for ourselves but the concern for our daughter, who is 4 years old, is still there. It's a very tough decision to open up schools again and stringent safeguards must be put in place.
  3. Since covid first took off in Thailand there has been nearly 40,000 excess deaths here compared with the usual annual death toll. Many suspect, including the Rural Doctors Assoc. in Thailand that the covid-19 death toll has been under reported.
  4. "He insists the kingdom is instead pursuing a higher quality, more family-friendly market." Talked with both my daughters back in the UK yesterday. Both of them and their respective families will not be holidaying in Thailand whilst the published demands are in place.
  5. That is a picture taken in 2013 at Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro during a Mass given by the Pope during World Youth Day.
  6. Beat me to it. Absolutely BS figures except maybe the 3000 prosecutions in 2 years.
  7. Surely if only vaccinated and twice tested tourists are allowed into Thailand then the locals have next to zero risk from them. The risk in Thailand is Thais infecting Thais until they all are vaccinated.
  8. Maybe Prayut was talking about his house when he said they'll be no flooding this year.
  9. Yeah only a third of the predicted number, which was pathetically low to begin with, is an abject failure in anyone's book.
  10. For some strange reason ATK +ve tests are not included in the official figure. If they were it would show there has been an upward trend for the last 2 weeks and was on course to hit 20 thousand cases a day very soon. Thankfully the vaccination program seems to starting to have an effect and bringing down the death and ICU count
  11. Nah, more likely the b 4stard offspring of it and a fire hydrant.
  12. Spot on, one of the illegal small gambling dens near our village is run by a policemans wife.
  13. I doubt it a seatbelt would have made any difference judging by the severity of that frontal impact.
  14. We had a msg from our daughter's private school yesterday saying that next week's online classes will be the last as they're preparing for reopening in November. This is in Kanchanaburi.
  15. I spoke with one of my daughter's in the UK last night about quarantine in Thailand as she and her family visit every year. No way will they be visiting until there is no quarantine. She also mentioned that they'd all had a holiday in Majorca recently and the tour company had subsidized all the covid tests for the family of five....total cost for all of the tests worked out the equivalent of 3000 bht, compare with the approximate 16000 bht for tests they'd have to pay for a Thai holiday.
  16. From 400 a day to over 5000 is some leap. For the sake of those reliant on tourism income I hope he's right but unless quarantine, tests and all the excess paperwork is done away with then I have my doubts.
  17. Teachers at my daughter's school were finally vaccinated last week. The rollout for teaching staff has been as chaotic for them as it has been for the general population.
  18. After the middle finger salutes and 'hia' greetings he got at his recent flood inspection I'm surprised he's got the nerve to show up again.
