  1. Pig production is a large earner for Denmark, Animal Farm produced an elite class of pigs in charge. Scary when you think about it.
  2. Just about everyone here in the village, including myself, pay the monthly fee for the weekly rubbish collection.
  3. Here in the village interest rates can be between 2 and 7 percent for large loans of thousands of bht over many months. For the old ladies borrowing 100 bht a day then they are required to repay between 130 and 150 bht the next day.
  4. If you don't think lessening your chances of dieing, if admitted to hospital, by 75% is a crock then there's no point in carrying on this exchange. Stay well.
  5. If you consider that those vaccinated and admitted to hospital with covid were 4 times less likely to die than those who were unvaccinated I'd argue the vaccine was very effective.
  6. According to Govt stats over 80% of the population has been vaccinated.
  7. "The monk has been stood down for now." Is this the monks version of the 'inactive post'?
  8. Of course the vaccine works. Of the approx 5000 admitted to hospital at least 4000 would most likely have been vaccinated, according to Govt stats, of which 36 died so of the 1000 who were unvaccinated 38 died, a significantly higher death rate.
  9. Congratulations, 2 jets, about 10% of a squadron.
  10. "The delay happened mostly with THAI because it downsized its organization and workforce" To coin a well known phrase, 'Well there's your problem'. Having worked as ground crew in the past, prolonged delays to the delivery of luggage to the collection belts are almost totally the result of not enough staff.
  11. Because all consumers are screwed by the price being inflated to cover the banks percentage.
  12. Banks charge the retailer when they accept digital transactions. This cost is passed on to the consumer.
  13. Not surprising that the banks are pushing for everyone to use digital payments as they will get a percentage of every single transaction. This is not some philanthropic suggestion but motivated by the greed of already rich institutions. The cost, as always, will be transferred to those using their cards and smartphones.
  14. Hopefully you're over covid now and wasn't trying to diminish your symptoms in any way. All the people we know who've had it recently are young and been vaccinated so guess that helped for them. Nurse friend at the local small hospital also told us cases are on the rise as is the number they're sending to the large hospital for further treatment. Personally I'm still being very careful as luckily avoided covid so far and don't want it at 63 years old either.
  15. Not in his own mind but hopefully the next election will get rid of him for good.
  16. When you're as popular as a wet fart in a lift there's no other option than to join.
  17. I'd wager that the actual number of cases is alot higher than reported as personally know several people who have tested positive recently. They were all vaccinated and reported that symptoms were not bad, similar to a cold.
  18. Must have been 12 years at least since I applied for a Yellow Book at my local Amphur and at first they refused to issue one at all, wouldn't even begin the process. As I wanted an easy proof of address wifey agreed to call their head office in Bangkok. Bangkok said something about buffalo's in the village not knowing their job and gave our Amphur a call telling them what to do. It turned out the lady responsible in our office had no idea how to do it, was scared of making a mistake so not issuing one meant she wouldn't make a mistake. As soon as she knew the process I was issued my book within a week.
  19. Maybe the homeowners had house insurance that covered the damage.
  20. Considering it was at 55 before the Brexit debacle and 72 when I first arrived on these shores it ain't exactly good is it?
  21. If you have a Pink Card or Yellow House Book entering your id number on that may be worth a try.
  22. If they want to save electric then starting with Govt Offices would be a great start. Our local Amphur, PEA, Tessabaan, Orbitor and Hospital are all lit up like Christmas trees at night.
  23. It's not hundreds of acres of prime residential or industrial land it's 1(ONE!) rai of land for the investor's own residential property that they will live in. To think that Thailand will lose control of vast areas of the country is seriously deluded considering only 8, yes EIGHT, takers have invested 40 million bht since 2003 in the last hairbrained scheme to own sacred Thai soil.
