I went to see a doc yesterday, he didnt know what it was but reckoned it was bowel related and not my appendix or anything like that, came away with 4 sets of pills that I started taking yesterday afternoon and already feel a lot better!

Yes. There is a risk that this was appendicitis and that the easing of the pain is becsuse your appendix has now ruptured. The pain from appendix is not always on the right and atypical presentations are not uncommon.

But of course you need to see a good doctor, chosen with some care. Where do you live?

Besides appendix other possibilities are an inflamed and/or obstructed gall bladder (especially if the meal that preceded the pain contained much fat or oil) and peptic ulcer disease.

What should be done is a physical exam, blood count (CBC) and ultrasound.

May turn out to have been nothing but better to err on side of caution as the consequences of further delay if it is appendix will be serious.

Ok will do that then, Im at upper sukumwit/bang na area, what hospital can I got to that isnt too far and/or ridiculously expensive?

Woke up this morning and pain has practically gone, still there a bit but I hardly notice it. Should I still go to see the doc? Im not sure now, Ive had several very bad incidents with doctors here and my Mrs were they have misdiagnosed things and seemed more interested in selling pills and getting you to stay in the hospital a few nights...

No fever or anything else and I feel fine apart from the pain. I was seriously worried it could be my appendix but the pain isnt coming from my right side. I can apply pressure too and the pain doesnt increase much and is bearable. Not sure if its stomach or intestines but Ive had 'dodgy guts' from eating spicy or bad food hundreds of times and this feels different for sure. Could it be gastroenteritis? I think Im gonna go see a doc tomorrow if its still the same in the morning

Right after I ate my dinner at about 7pm last night I suddenly started getting severe stomach pains and had to lie down. The food was not spicy and was all fresh and clean and Im perfectly fine with eating spicy food plus I know what it feels to have a dodgy stomach after eating spicy food and this was different.

The pain came on quite quickly and I didnt want to do anything but lie down and it hurt sometimes when I moved. It was quite bad for several hrs after that even though I took some drink for settling my stomach and stomach bills which seemed to have no affect, I eventually took some pain killers to help me sleep that night.

This morning the pain was still there, not as bad as the previous night but its been there all day and sometimes it hurts more when I stand up or move and occasionally I will get a very sharp stabbing pain. Generally the pain feels like indegestian/bloatedness and like Ive been punched in the gut very hard. Like I said earlier Ive had a bad stomach from eating spicy or bad food before and this is not the same at all. I have not vomitted nor had diarehea.

Its been over 24 hrs now and getting concerned any advice would be appreciated

wow this seems to be so negative, Im not sure if I should do this now! Is it really that bad??

Just to be clear Im talking about private, middle class, gated communities and I certainly wouldnt be expecting to have drunken people hanging out singing in the neighbourhood etc, does that normally happen??

Like I said Im thinking around the 20k price range, I might be tempted to go up to 25k for the right place and community but not sure yet....

Ive looked on websites like DD and some others but Id really like to hear directly from people who live in these places, its also quite hard to find out what villages there are out there, Ive jotted down a few that Ive whizzed past in taxis in Bangna trad road and other places and made some notes from other places but Googling these village names just brings up the same property sites and listings...

Edit: the areas Im looking at are these

Bangna, Ladkrabang, Prawet or even Samut Prakan

Im open to other suggestions in nearby areas though, have to stay close to the in-laws though!

I got married back in January and then tried to convert my ED visa to the 1 yr extension at CW which they wouldnt do so off to Laos I want to get a non imm O. That was Feb 3rd so Im coming up to my final 30 days on it so I know I need to go back to CW with my docs again and these are my questions:

How long do I have to go to CW to do this? What if I leave it until near when my 90 days is almost done? I dont intend to do this btw Im just curious

I still have all the documents, copies, photos etc etc from when I got married in Jan, I know that the bank letter for proof of funds needs to be recent and I will go to get a new one the day before I go to CW but what about the other docs?

Anything else Ive missed?

Forgot one very important point....internet.

I use the internet a lot, all day long pretty much, where Im staying now I even have two connections, one with True and another with 3BB, neither of them are great but if one goes slow or stops working I just switch to the other.

How is internet in these kind of villages and is it possible to have two ISPs like this?

So Ive always lived in either apartments or condos in Bangkok, the condo Im in right now Ive been in over 4 years and like it a lot (50sqm, 1 bed, next to an upper sukumwit BTS) but the owner is looking to sell it so its going to be time to move on soon and the Mrs and I are thinking about renting a house.

If we do move to a house I want to live in a village where they have amenities like a gym, pool and other things as thats what Im used to having at a condo and I use them several times a week where I am now. I dont have a car and as I dont work and dont really need to go anywhere regularly I dont really want to get one but one thing that concerns me is that both myself and my wife walk to the Max Value minimart many times during the week as well as doing other things like going to the 7-11 and I have a feeling that if we are in a village then having to call a taxi to go to these places could become a bind. Apart from that though I dont really have any concerns about the transportaiton side as we dont go anywhere that much so getting a taxi for the one or two trips we make a week would be fine but Id want to have lots of amenities in the village.

So if anyone can give any tips or thoughts on that Id be very helpful.

Also if anyone knows where I can find lists of villages in the eastern areas such as Bangna, Ladkrabang, Prawet or even Samut Prakan or places where I can find houses to rent in villages in these areas that would be great, Ive already checked out a lot of property sites such as DDproperty.com but there doesnt seem to be that many and Ive often seen the same properties listed over many websites and just wondering if theres other sources I can use.

Finally what can I expect to get in the 20k baht per month region?

We have been getting the family home renovated in the last couple of months and need to get a sofa, table of some sorts and a bed or mattress. The house is in a very small and remote area of Phichit and according to the Mrs there are no big shops near at all (up to an hrs drive away) and she has no idea how to get any of these things, does anyone have any exprience doing this? I was telling her we should just order online or something but she says they wont deliver that far, not sure if she ahs even inquired though tbh. Im not there at the moment so dont know exactly whats going on.

Also Im wondering how to get cheap furniture in these kind of places or what I should expect to pay? Id like to be able to get the following for 10k if possible:

Sofa (small one will do)

Basic table and some chairs (4 would do)

Bed with mattress or just a mattress (double)

The family's home prior to this had zero furniture and they all slept on the floor so this is all new to them and very frustrating for me to try and organise remotely!

One of wife's friends is a teaching asset earning 10k a month. Just bought a brand new pickup over 7 years at 7k bht a month.

If he still has it in a year I'll be amazed.

1. You cant do this in Bangkok, I just tried a few weeks ok and was told its impossible with non ED it must be a non O. I had all the docs and everything and they didnt care so had to go out to Laos and get a non O.

Ive been using a ups for about 18 months now, in the last few weeks there have been a few powercuts and my PC has gone off and the UPS has made the alarm sound so not doing its job, it worked fine before although I cant remember when the last time that was. I tested it in all plugs and it seems the backup is not working at all, then yesterday my PC went off while plugged into it bit there wasnt a powercut. Is it dead then and if so how did this happen?

Also about Arma 3, I found a SG group called Task Force Badger, they have a Steam group and Youtube channel. They play 'casual realism' style so its taken seriously but not over the top. Its English only and you must be on TS and also they have about 6Gb of mods you must install but they have it setup with Bit torrent sync and full instructions on how to get that running.

Ok thanks, no doesnt include materials. Its already done now anyway, apparently it was priced like this instead of daily as then they would hopefully get it done faster. It was a total of 86 sqm and took 2 guys 5 days to do it.

Can someone tell me what the normal rate is for staff/labour to plaster walls of a new house inside and out?

I have been quoted a rate if 60 baht per square metre which seems expensive to me.

Just thought Id inform everyone that I went to CW today to try and do an extension based on marriage with a non immigrant ED visa as Id read here that some people had apparently been able to do this, anyway I was told straight away by the officer that this most definitely is NOT possible and even when I said its a non immigrant visa and brought out last August's police announcement she was quite adamant its not possible and must be a Non 'O' one. I was sceptical that it would have ever been possible but thought it would be worth a shot but looks like a trip to Laos for me, Im putting this up here to warn people who are searching for this same topic just like I did anyway!

I used to love Halo back in my 360 days and Im thinking of getting an Xbone just to play Halo MCC however I heard there were lots of problems with the mp matchmaking on launch including long match making times. Are those problems still present and generally how is the mp here in Thailand/SE Asia?
