  1. Hi,

OK so Im on a marriage visa and coming up to needing to do my first ever 90 days report, not sure exactly when the date is and if I should do it by post, in person or online.

these are the stamps and the dates I have in my passport:

Entered Thailand on non O visa - 4th Feb to May 4th

    Under consideration stamp - April 24th - May 22nd

Notice of 90 day reporting stapled to departure card - 24th April - July 23rd (Im guessing this is it right?)

Thai wife permitted to stay stamp - 22nd May - 4th May 2016

So July 23rd is my 90 day date?

Im in samut prakan area and it says this on the site about doing it by post:

PLEASE NOTE: Send the mail before the renewal date 15 days to Immigration office

is it too late for me to do it by post then? Surely EMS is delivered in 24hrs to them?

Whats the situation with online reporting? Should I just give it a a go? How do I know if it works?

Whats it like reporting in person at samutprakan?

    thanks!

  2. Ok simple question here, Im going to the UK with my Thai Mrs soon for 2 months, obvs. she cant use the NHS so I guess she needs health cover? Where does one buy this, what are the expected costs etc etc? Im just looking for something basic really...

Also if she doesnt have it what does a visit to the doc cost and other things?

    Thanks!

  3. Ok thanks for the input guys. I have weighed up the pros and cons esp against camera phones (myself and the Mrs have iphone 5s) but I think what one person said about the lenses is a valid point. Dont pretty much all camera phones have terrible zooms? Ive always found camera phones only good for mid range or close shots.

Anyone have any experience with the Canon S120 too btw?

  4. Uk-Thai-Uk flights always seem cheaper than the other way, any reason why?

Often asked and never saw a satisfactory answer.

Ethihad sounds good but from what Ive seen all their departure times suck

BKK leaving 20:35h, arrival MAN 7:40h.

Not too bad? Total time 17:05h, well not record breaking, but you have to pay a price for the price.

    30650 Baht return in July.

    Back: 20:25h, arriving 18:20h, total time 15:55h.

Thanks, seen a lot around those times but trying to avoid jet lag when I get there so ideally fly morning here and land night time UK...

  5. Im looking at buying a basic point and shoot camera for the mrs for when we travel, Id rather not spend more than 10k baht, is that enough and any recommendations?

I saw a Nikon coolpix S6900 for 9,900 on the Nikon site but then saw its about 25% cheaper in the UK where we will be heading soon, are there better prices on cameras in the UK?

  6. I need to book a return flight for BKK-MAN-BKK soon for around August, whenever I book flights I never seem to be able to find any good deals at all yet Im always hearing about people who get them! Ive been searching all the websites as well as checking on the carrier sites and I can barely see any difference in prices, is there any point going with these 'discount' sites?

Can anyone advise on what the BKK-AMS-MAN flight is like with KLM? They seem to be the best ones who are flying at decent times (leaving morning/noon Thai time and arriving night time UK) but the best price I can see is 39k each :( Also what is there extra leg room and comfort seats like? On some of the flights it looks like we wont even get to sit together unless we pay extra for those!

  7. OK so we got it, I guess the comprehensive application worked.

    So a few questions now:

As we have received the visa a lot quicker than I expected Im thinking we should go there a bit earlier than we stated in the application (I said approx Aug 7th) we will still only stay for 2 months though as specified in the application, is this ok to do?

Ive seen some threads that have mentioned people getting questioned by the IOs at UK when they arrive, am I ok to go in the non-EU passport queue with my wife just in case of this?

Anything else I need to be aware of?

    thanks for all the help!

  8. Superal obvs. right now I dont know the outcome of our application just yet and also this is my first ever one but I really went out of my way to make sure I had as much evidence of our life and relationship as my wife has zero assets this is the sort version of what I included:

    Marriage cert + translations

Her surname change doc after she took my name plus translations

My 1 year marriage visa in Thailand

My 1 year house contract here in Bkk plus a utility bill at the same address in wifes name

Letter of invitation from father that we would stay with him plus his council tax bills as evidence of ownership of property

6+ months bank statements for both my accounts in Thailand plus the same for my hsbc UK account, one of the Thai accounts is used for the marriage visa funds and combined they had plenty of money in

Finally a detailed letter from me as the sponsor explaining all briefly and about our relationship and life in Thailand and how we would be going and returning together.

Id say overall it was pretty damn comprehensive!

I think though that with us being married, my surname taken plus living in Thailand it might be looked at a lot differently though than just a bf/gf couple...
