It's actually not difficult to disprove the "urban legend" that Thai Sticks were "dipped" in opium.. I'll explain.. There is now a "nouveux cannabis" product called Pop Rocks. These are dense (must be to survive the process) buds that have weed/hash oil applied. This process almost certainly is done by hand. The oil must be warmed beforehand for ease of application. The buds are now very sticky and will stick to their neighbor. This problem is solved by rolling them in kief cannabis "dust" after allowing for some drying time.. Have you ever seen opium? It has the consistency of thick axle grease. Even warmed it's going to rip the heck out of the buds, destroying their aesthetic appeal. You edited your post to say "some" were apparently treated this way. I never saw any... I think it would be better to delete any reference to this.. not least because conflating cannabis with opium does none of us any good.. Shades of the old (also false) "gateway" drug argument.

So an average of 2 yaba-related deaths per year. But what does related mean? I don't have statistics but yaba per se is not a killer.. "cutting the head off the snake" does not work.. hasn't worked over the last 70 years.. Too much money involved. The next "head" is waiting in the wings.. What will work? General Paiboon, on returning from a closed door meeting in New York at the UN, said the War was unwinnable. That was the consensus view at that meeting. He said it was time for society to learn how to live with "drugs". He went on to say that he favored legalization of methamphetamine. Why? Because present laws do not allow use by qualified Medical Doctors. That is important why? Because to date, the only successful treatment involves slowly decreasing the meth dosage until the user is able to stop using with the least discomfort and the biggest chance of success. This is not possible under current law.

Sorry, I beg to differ, speaking as someone who has the experience to make the comment I did... Your low estimate is more than sufficient. To clarify, I'm talking about the time elapsed after the dried buds have been clipped from the stems. Curious why you didn't react to my comment about a golden colour, because some Thai strains do become quite a beautiful gold. Takes a while.

Thank you.. I'll give it a try. I don't know what's going on in the background, but I just clicked in the link in the thread. I clicked on several of them but only the clip mentioned turned up on my Windows sign-in screen..

Help! I clicked on a couple of these video clips and now my Windows sign in page has the "Enemy at the Gates" video link.. I can't get rid of it!

Newin Chidchob: The kingmaker of Thai politics returns as election looms
bobbin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This.. Thailand's new cannabis policy was first flag-polled by General Paiboon, then Thailand;s Minister of Justice in 2016. He was subsequently appointed to the Privy Council. It has very high level support.. Chidchob is Anutin's eminence gris. -
Most Isaan People Prefer Thaksin’s Daughter As PM: NIDA Poll
bobbin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If the Thaksin family holds that position, it's not because of ethnicity.. They are Chinese/Thai. I'm going to expound a little on that theme in the new thread outlining Pheu Thai party's opportunistic new/old proposal to return to the status ante regarding drugs in Thailand. -
Below is your response edited to reflect facts of the case... "There's no questions here to be asked, and no solution either, it's simply impossible to predict or to protect against every would me mad man who's in a an uncontrolled, psychotic rage picks up gun and goes on to kill children.." Police autopsy found no drugs in his system. Of course the case is drug-related, but at the time of the massacre he was stone cold sober.

One of the first modern car duels, and still one of the best!

Weak.. I see calling your arguments dishonest stung you..you used the same word in your subsequent two posts.. including your most recent response to me.. Also a little slow on the uptake since you just repeated the assertion that got your post removed in the first place.. My suggestion to you is to quit while you are behind.. ????

You have an interesting, and somewhat infuriating, style of communication. I heartily suggest you review my first post in this thread. I did not curse Thaksin. I have acknowledged his success with the 30 Baht program. There is no cheer-leading of the present government, yet you attribute your projections to me with the use of "you" liberally sprinkled through your post. This is dishonest discourse.... Because it was recent, I clearly remember your first direct response to me in another thread. You stated my posts were worthless. Your post was removed, as was my gentle reply to you, because that's how it's done here. The offending post and all direct replies to it are excised. And history will be the judge of who is on the wrong side of history, not you.

Ah,,So now you are willing to admit that innocents died in a flurry of extra-judicial killings.. We are just quibbling over the body count... And you conveniently gloss over the fact that many have recognized and applauded his revolutionary 30 baht medical program, thereby giving you license to call everyone who has a different opinion "expat closet fascists" Over the top much? I detect a whiff of hysteria.. And by the way, were you living in Thailand at the time of these events? I was.

If the worse happens in the war, what happens in Thailand?
bobbin replied to Jingthing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I saw a projected impact only a few days back... Northern latitude countries, Russia, Canada, USA, much of Europe.. 95% casualties.. from starvation due to impact on ability to grow food crops. Equatorial countries, Thailand ,Malaysia mentioned specifically.. 40-50% casualties.. easier to still grow food crops.. So Thailand is an excellent place to be, relatively speaking.. -
Spelling is a little shaky, given you must have seen both surnames often, but your point is correct.. He was basically the man who pushed through the crime bill that subsequently saw America's prison population explode. It would be only fitting if he attempted to repair the damage his hard-line approach inflicted on America.

Police chief confirms no traces of drug found in gunman
bobbin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Is it the way of any drug that it continues to have an effect even when it's not being taken? Read that sentence again, slowly, and you will have your answer.. For pedants, I suppose poison might qualify if it's a slow-acting poison.
