When I bought a new car the dealer called us to collect the blue book and white plates, they took the red plates off and fitted the white ones and finished all the paperwork, etc. -
Though the MG/Morris story is a bit complicated, MG was the racing name used by Morris Garages performance stuff. Since 1924 Morris made ordinary road cars, plus performance road cars, for many years before being bought by the British Motor Corporation in 1952.
