  1. And every one of those articles discusses possible future legislation.

Therefore currently, drones (however you want to define them) are 100% legal.

Enough evidence for me to question the idea of bringing something into the country that may soon be illegal

Vowels may soon be illegal, but you're still using them.... :)

  2. Thanks gents, especially the tip about storing batteries in the hold. Noted.

As for buying one here cheaper biplanebluey, if you or your club mates can source a DJI Phantom 3 (standard) for less than 35k baht, please pm me as i've several friends in country who are also itching to get into the hobby.

    Edit for Rimbuman;

I think the difference between drone and RC comes down to the autonomous flying a drone can do without stick input. I can enter mapped waypoints on my tablet and off the drone will fly.....ALthough as an ex raptor 90 pilot, there is surely no thrill than throwing a few grand in the air and fully controlling your investment.....until things go wrong.

  3. As the topic says, On my next visit over, i'll be bringing an Aerial photography platform (or drone) and wonder about anything that may go South. I've googled and found some proposals to outlaw these, and also messaged our favourite food photographer @richardbarrow (with nothing back).

It's purely for leisure purposes, and I can(and will) set a "soft ceiling" in the flight control software to not interfere with commercial traffic - indeed my plans are to film the local RC powerboat guys and have a little fun making some youtube clips...

As far as transport, it'll be in a hardshell case, checked in the cargo hold as additional baggage - with all batteries disconnected and declared on departures. DO i need to 100% discharge batteries before transit for example ?

Any of you guys done this ? I'd be interested for comments from those who are experienced Those who are not pls refrain from troll posts.

    Cheers

  4. Woke up and the first thing i though of was "Make sure Use default Gateway on Remote network is checked" In the VPN adapter settings.

Also expect this topic to be binned as we're discussing working around government restrictions :(

  5. I tried quoting the OP with no success (no option to) - BUT

Also tried connecting through my VPN but still no luck. I though a VPN could get around the blocks???

It can, i suspect local error, a bad VPN configuration or a tro....NO...it can't be!

EDIT: Unless the OP's VPN exit node is in Thailand, in which case it's about as much use as a fish on a bike.

  6. Well, if A**holes could fly, i'd suggest an airport.....

Seriously though, whats the square footage of each floor? If we're talking a townhouse then i'm out of ideas, but if it's sizeable then....

I would however suggest a dress code. No khaki shorts, no vests, no gold. And the thing about three floors is footfall, If you go for a fine dining area on floor 2, it's be a bit crap if you had alcohol enthusiasts walking past to floor three for the flashy lights and duff duff music....

  7. Got to use Apple Pay yesterday, After importing my debit cards, now all i need to do is double tap the contacts button and wave my wrist at a terminal.

Worked real well. I bought beer. smile.png

    Was this in Thailand?

Sadly not. I dont think Thailand supports contactless yet - also chip & pin ?

  8. I agree with Phazey. Yes, there are a couple of new features with El Capitan, but what I am noticing is a decent improvement in "snappiness". From a recent review:

Boot up the Captain, and you can expect to switchh between apps twice as fast as Yosemite allowed. Pop open a PDF, and it should load and open four times faster than before. Launch any given app, and it should pop up about 1.4 times more quickly, thanks to behind the scenes work from Apple. These numbers are right from Apple and haven’t necessarily been tested in real world conditions like your local café’ (members of the Developer Program are no doubt on it), but you can still expect a lot of bonuses to speed.

Although it is still in its fifth beta release, El Cap is also very stable.

I've just noticed my thunderbolt ethernet adapter and/or internet sharing is broken.

No biggy, we live with a few band aids whilst on the bleeding edge.......

  9. I'm enjoying mine quite a bit, Got the 42mm Stainless. One feature i'm surprised to make use of is the fitness/activity tracker. I find myself being on my feet/walking around the datacentre more than i was in the past.

Yeah I'm addicted to filling in my rings.

It's all in the wrist sir. It's all in the wrist.....

  10. I got thinking, maybe you installed the memory and only saw 3GB, and assumed it was due to a 32bit installation of Windows 8 -

    BUT

16 GB RAM were recognized in bIOS.

Lenovo X201 only supports 8GB - I also own one and have researched such an upgrade.......

It'll show 16GB but proceed no further. Reduce the ram to 8GB (2 x 4GB) and your milage may vary. What CPU is it ?

Crucial DDR3-12800 2 x 8 GB was recognized by BIOS and the computer is just fine.

The crook had interrupted the boot sequence to present evidence that the "CPU is defective". If that had been the case, the notebook wouldn't have booted at all!! wink.png

He then proceeded to double the installation fee, because <Lenovo does not have drivers for this notebook>. Not sure if he meant the old X61. But no other shop had demanded such a surcharge for such an installation...

Will get back to you after a day of testing regarding 16 gB being okay. Got the info from a LENOVO forum.

For all others, a SSD is a worthy investment. What a difference, even with an old and slow X-61! thumbsup.gif

Something is wrong, SO SO WRONG!.

    1) The memory you pasted is in NO WAY AT ALL compatible with an X61. It's stepping speed is physically impossible on the X61 Laptop.

    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd012148

Supports two 200pin PC2-5300 Non-Parity (NP) Double Data Rate Two (DDR2) Technology

Secondly. Lenovo may not have drivers for this laptop, but Microsoft has them ALL included from Windows 7 up until Windows 10. There is no need to install drivers manually. Lenovo however do have a driver pack. I can link you up if you wish.

  11. It's fully documented and I've done this recently, It would be handy if you have someone in Thailand to do the running back and forwards for you, I'll see if I can post the correct Royal Thai Police Force links for you shortly sir.

the website is laughably broken right now, http://www.pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/eng/

But you can follow the .ca way, http://www.thaiembassy.ca/en/visiting-thailand/police-clearance-certificates

    Good Luck.
