I take exception to a couple of things in the quote above:
'a highly venerable venue' where MPs can't be arsed to turn up for work;
No Thai MPs have an 'ethical code of conduct' - they're only there to milk the public purse.
Then all debts will be forgiven so the farmers can contribute generously to the lung cancer fund; and mill owners can continue bleeding rice farmers dry.
This is mainly caused by over-ordering of building materials. Because most contractors never got past their two times table at school, they blithely order twenty odd power poles to lie by the road for years.
As the reputation of Thai police sinks ever lower on a daily basis expect more of these stories with photogenic 'victims'. It is rumoured that Pattaya Plod have hired a theatrical agent to cast these hopefuls.
