  1. 'the political will to stop smog problem?' When there's an election in the air, convoys of slow moving speaker-vans grind ordinary traffic to a standstill whilst broadcasting a political message no one can hear. The rest of the time it's just ordinary vans hired by deluded business men who think this drums up business when in fact it alienates potential customers.
  2. Bread, butter AND oats - very healthy.
  3. The picture says everything you need to know about Thailand's Health & 'Safty' laws.
  4. In Hat Yai the population trebles each weekend as Malay men cross over for their oats.
  5. This is a minor scandal and all because the brown envelope was late this month. All new laws are ignored unless they benefit the BIB.
  6. Surely this was a clue as to the sort of 'teacher' he was dealing with?
  7. Another triumph for Pattaya Plod.
  8. Difficult to schedule a consultation with consultants?
  9. This story directly under the one about the wife stabbing her husband illustrates the myth of Thai family values.
  10. There are meat broilers on every corner; most wats burn their own rubbish daily; traffic jams everywhere caused by selfish, brainless drivers; even convoys of slow-moving speaker vans holding up traffic to broadcast a message that no one will hear. I suspect lung disease kills more people annually than the totals for Covid and road traffic accidents.
  11. This is at least the 2nd time this sentence has appeared in unrelated stories. He was my hero but doesn't belong in stories like this.
  12. And all the Thai motor bike riders who puncture their exhaust pipes to let you know they're coming.
  13. These drivers can often be seen the next day conversing with fellow pavement merchants in SIGN language.
  14. How many Thais buy wine? Breakfast cereals?
  15. Possibly it's not taught about in schools where most young mothers experience their first sexual encounter. Possibly it's more complicated to buy pills/diaphragms/IUDs requiring a doctor's consultation than sheaths easily obtained in any supermarket/chemist.
  16. I share Jacko's misery. 20 metres away an unfortunate pet sits howling in misery whilst its owner is out working all day! That's before we get to the wider problem of dogs polluting every soi in the land (not just with noise.)
  17. The name alone scares me. I like to think I could outdistance any snake over 100 yards whilst running backwards.
  18. Never thought I'd see this oxymoron in Thailand.
  19. Thai men don't either & desert the new mums-to-be at the onset of Morning Sickness. Why are men are not made to pay for their children here?
  20. Don't tell DWP you're living in Thailand. I did & my pension has been frozen for 16 years! Worse HMRC have been taxing me as if I was on the full rate (presently 100% more than I get.)
  21. Next to face charges: those with extreme haircuts; tattoos; limp wrists; big noses.
  22. Its doors have been super-sized.
  23. Staggering but this is par for the course on many farang foods/beverages even stuff made under licence or repackaged here. They bang on about attracting tourists, who are the future ex-pats, yet penalise them with racist taxation.
  24. At last I saw 2 cops handling traffic flow on Kao Noi during Rush Hour on Saturday! This is a 1st. How long will Plod keep up this New Year's Resolution to work?
  25. whoever. It's the only time Plod makes an arrest here; never the result of police work unless bad press is looming.
