  1. A very unhappy resident of Koh Samui returned from his holiday to discover that his Izuzu D Max had been badly damaged in his absence.

The car was parked near the Bophut Fishermans Village. The damage was caused two to three weeks ago.

The wing mirror from the White Honda City was still on the scene and the owner of the car is now asking our help to find out who caused the considerable damage to his vehicle.

If you have seen a badly damaged Honda City then please contact the [email protected] so he can return the wing mirror to its rightful owner!

  2. A man from the North-East of England has died after falling through a plate glass window at the New Year’s Eve party on Koh Phangan.

Kevin Liddle, 23, from Gateshead, died from cuts he received during his fall.

He was travelling with three friends who he was enjoying the party with before he crashed through the window of the shop in Haadrin Beach.

He was pronounced dead by medical staff at the Bandon Clinic on the island.

Thai Police said foul play was not suspected. A Haad Rin police spokesman said his three friends, also Britons, had been interviewed. The spokesman said: “They said it was an accident.” Police named the friends as Joseph Tate, John Henderson, and Andrew Petch, all from Sunderland, who were allowed to leave the island for Koh Samui the next day.

  3. Unfortunately a daily occurrence, nothing will ever change and samui will always be probably they most dangerous place to drive ( at least samui doesn't seem to have the once a week bus crash which Phuket has )

I have lost 3 close friends to samui roads , and countless friends of friends have lost there lives

I do believe at least 98 per cent of all samui crashes are avoidable

  4. Well, biggie, I'm waiting for replies so I can join you on the line-up of moaners.

Trouble is, there would prolly be so many thousands of posts that in the end nobody would bother reading through them all.

This is Thailand after all. And the Thai people have a totally different thinking about responsibility, and a whole different concept about apologising or making good.

Each to their own, eh, what?

I mean - along with the freedom to build yourself a house or add a garage without years of planning permissions, not having to spend as much as your car is worth on MOT tests each year, and having nasty mean policemen who measure how many inches you are away from a road junction - also comes the price to pay of . . . erm . . . stuff like what you're on about.

I'd rather be here than in Stoke on Trent.

(But it's also one of the reasons that Thai hotels and resorts spend millions of baht every year on training their staff in the utterly foreign and noo-fangled idea of 'customer service'.)

You could always start a Thai Version of ' Watchdog ' Big C, the only worry is the Rogue Traders segment might take up hours of TV time !

Complaints are difficult in Thailand due to the Defam Laws, which are outdated and need to change, as i believe if you are offered a bad service or ripped off you should be able to name and shame the company

  5. PS i use gmail for Business and domain name changed

What do you mean by this?

Did you mean the name of the domain (ie, boater.com) changed? to what? Or do you mean the DNS MX record for the domain was changed, as this seems more likely.

    From Wikipedia:

"Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an email validation system designed to prevent email spam by detecting email spoofing, a common vulnerability, by verifying sender IP addresses. SPF allows administrators to specify which hosts [what IP addresses] are allowed to send mail from a given domain by creating a specific SPF record (or TXT record) in the Domain Name System (DNS). Mail exchangers use the DNS to check that mail from a given domain is being sent by a host sanctioned by that domain's administrators."

If you have a domain name hosted by GOOGLE and use Google Apps (Google Apps for Business) then the person who set up the account for you should be able to look up and see if the setting are still correct.

If you have a domain name through another registrar, possibly because you have a hosted website, then whoever set up the domain name needs to log into the domain name registrar cpanel and set the correct information that GOOGLE requires.

    Hope that helps.

  8. Kinda makes you wonder just how bad the "real" road statistics are on this island.  Very scary stuff.

Be very careful out there folks, especially tomorrow night for a very busy Loy Katong

The real road statistics would be scary reading , but on an average day I would say 10 serious accidents a day ? Maybe 2 deaths ?

  9. I've been looking all over for those photos but they are nowhere to be found. I'm 200% sure they were on the Facebook page, I was browsing a huge album showing a friend and we both thought it was looking good and worth considering. It looked well underway but now the photos have been removed Posted Image (?)

I live here, nothing has changed on that peninsula.

Unless you where looking at there other project they have built ?

  10. Yeah, there's a few. Sofitel does them, AmBar does them. Next AmBar one is 23rd, that's a Saturday though. These are pool parties though, not sure what a 'Brunch on Sunday' party would be.

Salsa Bangkok is having  a pool party this Sunday at Mosiac.

Thanks , will check them out

  11. been drinking tap water for more than 10 years in kpgn, never got any problem.

My wife, insisted that we install a water purifier at home. She is now bottling liters of purified tap water, and I keep on drinking it straight from the tap...

I think that the more you sanitize your environment the proner you are to get sick

That is impressive , not even the locals or Burmese would risk drinking straight from the tap

  12. I have to travel a lot for my business, mostly in Europe,
    but often in the Thailand.
Before I used to use sites like Travelocity,
but I quickly found the better way to find deals is to go to
the second level-those sites like http://reservelowcost.com
Who compare the hundreds of different booking sites in one
single search. So you not only see trivago or expedia
deals but ALL of them in one place.
I must've save over 3,000 euros since I started using them.
I agree, just using one of the top booking sites is not the best idea.
    I hope it helps wink.png

    your site by any chance?
