Try Horizon homes in Cheong Mon,
they are to build around 100 condo's/apts..
Had a brief look at these apartments but they are very over priced for off plan ! Also I do not think they have the correct condo licence for foreign ownership , and will be lease hold
The new development ' the nest. ' might have a condo licence , it's in the right area and owned by Thais , but due to the location and the very high possibility of flooding I would be inclined to purchase there
The park in Chong mon had a condo licence ( although they are town houses ) and I believe they have a few resales there , as well as whispering palms condo in chewang , who have a couple of studio and 1 bed resales on foreign ownership

There are some condos on samui which are under the Thai regulations of foreign freehold ownership .
Replay in bangrak is one , but all there foreign quota is gone , I also believe Narash condo near the ring road was on a condo licence

Not everybody views themselves as rich because they have a lot of money. Some people view being rich in terms of happiness. One man who considers himself to be very rich is Martin Wheeler, a man who does not have any amassed wealth, flashy cars or even a small company, but to him, he has it all. So what is it that makes this man’s life so complete?
Well Martin Wheeler found his nirvana when he implemented the King’s sufficiency economy theory into his life here in Thailand. He is a forty seven year old British man who has a solid comprehension of the King’s ideas. He lives on rice and organic vegetables that he grows himself and has totally detached himself from mainstream life, something that some rather more ‘well off’ people, in the more traditional sense, find puzzling. However some feel rather in awe of this man who has removed greed, money, competition and ambition from his life and now lives in Baan Kham Pla Lai in Khon Kaen with his wife and his three children. He has spent a total of seventeen years in Thailand, eight of those in the remote community he calls home.
So who is this man whose long quest for real happiness has finally been realized? Mr. Wheeler graduated with first-class honours in Latin from London University before he turned his back on his career and decided to live a simple life in Thailand. He spent the last of his money buying clothes, shoes and accessories to make himself look good to try to get job teaching English in Bangkok. As time went by he felt that he was betraying himself doing something that he did not like and eventually quit to start a new and more fulfilling life.
Wheeler is well educated but these days earns less than one hundred baht a day as a laborer. He and his wife currently own forty seven rai of land. Ten of those are used to grow jasmine and sticky rice, seven are for Mai pradoo, one is kept for vegetables and on the rest diptercarpeceae and dipterocarpus alatus trees are grown.
His motivation for his current way of life was that he truly believes there are things that are more valuable than money, he does not dismiss the importance of money and does buy things for himself and his family, but does not allow cash to have any influence over his life. He said “having more money makes our life more complicated and unhappy sometimes, I look at money as a drug that puts our life in danger”.
Mr. Wheeler wakes up at 5.45am and goes to his rice field at 6. If the sun is not too hot he spends between six and eight hours barefoot in the field, his feet often get hurt on sharp objects. While in the field he must pull weeds and take care of other crops. When the rice season comes he ploughs the field, occasionally with the help of local workers when it all becomes too much. But he is never discouraged and says he is happy with his choice of life. He produces around one hundred and fifty bags of rice annually that he keeps in the barn for his family to eat and to provide visitors with a meal when they come to learn about the concept of sufficiency and economy he practices.

I do hope mrs Ashton gets justice
The Thais will no doubt want this not to be published , and Thai journalists hardly do follow up stories so won't be in the local press
I agree with Boater on this one.
The only follow up court stories that I have seen in the English speaking newspapers are the ones going after high level Thai public officials or foreign peadophiles.
It's is a shame , as Thais sometime feel immune to do what they want , and some publicity to say this guy got his just deserved in court might deter others

Driving down towards Ban Tai today there are posters dotted along the ring road .... like this (actually I don't like!!!... )
Just to go off subject but since it was mentioned!
The comment from Tropo, this red weevil problem, does not seem to be getting much worse..that I have noticed. I think they are using Fermone traps to attract and kill the males (usually how that is done.)
along Soi one to Lamai, one can see a few of these traps hanging in the groves ... not been out and about in other areas to see if any around, but it may be just and experiment.... Lets hope it works....
So they are promoting to Thais then .. And what is with the fortuner ? Do you get. Free one with an apartment ?
-
I was joking....Same developer as Club Koh Samui I would guess......the one with the ski slope....
They are the same developer as Baan Por Jai in Saket (completed and sold out) and The Ville (opposite Bluewater, pretty much sold out as well).
Im worried as well about the floods + the noise of Qbar + Black Moon + Reggae but the construction will start next year..
There current inventory seems aimed at the Thai market ( all there advertising is in Thai ) so a big jump into the western market

found some more picture - the place will be called - The Nest
A modern condominium development in Chaweng, Koh Samui. This project is called "The Nest" and features over 500 units in 12 buildings with a central club house with gymnasium, bar and restaurant. The condo is situated in Chaweng, close to the beach and with access to the Central Shopping centre which is only a few minutes away.
These condos are for sale with foreign freehold title, as this is the first pre-sale phase with early investors getting the pick of the condos on offer.
The developer has a strong construction background, and has completed at least two other projects on Koh Samui successfully.
Units on sale start from 1.59m Thai Baht for a 27.5 sqm fully furnished unit.
There are two other sizes of units, a 1 bedroom 42.5 sqm and a 62.5 sqm 2 bedroom condo unit.
All units come fully furnished with modern furnishings and air conditioning included in the price. -

Really not much you can do ! I would however get everything checked to see if he has permission to build ( you would be surprised how many people don't ! )
Also , is he extending on top ? Ie how high will his building be as you look as if you are in a slope ?

If anyone wants a cheap beer then go to 7/11!
Just went to my local 7/11 in Bangkok.. up to last weekend i was paying 92 baht for 2 bottles of Leo.. Today i went and those same to bottles are 108 baht..
That's an 8 baht per bottle increase.. that's almost 20%.. that's a big increase..
thats £1.06 a bottle ! , you can buy 500 ML cans / bottles in the off licence in the UK for under £1 or Tesco do 24 cans for £15 440ml ( all beer brands ) so that works out 31 THB for a Large Can of Beer
So Beer is starting to become cheaper in the UK then Thailand !!!

I've sold a few on sedo, but only ever had luck with .com domains there and both of them were listed for years before they got a bite. They did make good profit though
Do you pay a fee for using sedo ? Ie could I advertise elsewhere the domains for sale and get sedo to conduct to sale ?
-
I have 3 domain names that i would like to sell, they come with 3rd party hosting and are up and running
Question, what is the best method to sell these domain names on?, are there specific Domain name brokerages that can assist?,

Does anyone know what has happened to the driver of the pick up truck? I really hope he has not just has a slapped hand.
never seen a follow up to anything in the thai news ... most probably paid off the correct people
Now you have found some information are you still going to say he might have paid off the correct people.
What happen's in your country if you plead not guilty do you think you will go to court the next day, no it can take month's.
I assume the guy is out on bail as we would expect in any country so he can prepare his defense
John, serious question here.....have you ever been to Koh Samui?
Was just about to ask the same question !

It was a tragic story. Two friends both pensioners from Rochdale in Manchester were mown down in March this year by a Thai driver on Koh Samui.
Derek Gent and Michael Holmes had known each other for 30 years. Derek was former head of Oldham Trading Standards Office. Michael was in sales. They were both killed in the wake of a crash between a Toyota and a truck which had been overtaking.
Witnesses were found and the truck driver Chamnan Choowaree was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and the file was sent for prosecution.
Witnesses have said that the truck driver over took a Toyota Corolla on a blind bend and had to pull in sharply, clipping the car and putting them both into a spin.http://www.andrew-drummond.com/2013/09/anger-and-frustration-over-deaths-of.html

There is no such thing in Thailand as a 99 year lease , the maximum lease allowed in Thailand is 30 years which can be extended by another 30 years x 2
