The Chinese consulates have been using E visa for quite some time. Whether the Embassy's or consulates wish to use it or not, it isn't their choice. The E visa will not be going away.

I have always asssumed that Embassies all sing from the same hymn book, but from what i have read they all have there own criteria, i know that immigration in thailand can differ from one to another but this is all new to me......

Thailand is what you’re doing wrong.

It’s almost 2020 and these people can’t manage to build a website that functions for everyone.

The only reason they don’t check out from shame is because they are too stupid to know how incompetent they really are.

@baz69er PLease be sure to keep us informed as to whether your solution to items 8 and 9 worked.  (post #29)

I have neither an employer nor a pension (retired with investments and State Pension doesn't start for another 18 months) so if this continues, I am pretty well ****ed!

I suppose I could go for a non-O in that case.

@ubonjoe I REALLY hope your suggestion in #31 that this so-called e-Visa won't last, comes to pass.....you're not a man for wild speculation so maybe you do have an insight????

    We live in hope????

I will certainly keep everyone informed, i have a feeling that they are going to reject my appplication anyway as the letter that i supplied from my employee is not addressed directly to the Embassy, i did read here (https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/asia-thailand/topics/experiences-with-the-new-2019-online-visa-booking-system) & the guy states (-If any of your evidence is deemed unsatisfactory when a human reviews it, the embassy will email you and tell you what is missing/wrong. You then have to email it to them at an email address they supply. Responses to emails are quite speedy.) i dont know how true this is but it would make things a lot easier........

As suggested, a copy of your passport page will work for 7. For sections 8 and 9 I really don't know what is acceptable if you cannot supply what they require. If the application is rejected, there is no refund of the fee you have paid so would be pointless in applying again if you cannot supply what is required.
As suggested, use a consulate, depending on what visa you require if you cannot supply the documentation for E visa. You need to apply in person though as there is no postal option any longer. If using the Liverpool consulate, you need to make an appointment first.
At this time, UK consulates are not using E visa.

Yeh thats what i did, the 8 & 9 i had to put the same file in both ( Letter from my employer) if i put my letter from employer in first & then my pension statement it said the file was too big & if i did it the other way round i got the same outcome, so ive just got to wait, if im rejected then i will go in person to the embassy in hull, no appointment & they are asking for fewer documents.

    Thanks for your input....

    Cheers

After you have created and logged into your E visa account, they are part of the application process for all visas. Your screen shot above is from the Embassy. The Embassy doesn't run or have any input into the E visa website. That is locked, controlled and updated by Immigration in Bangkok. The update requiring the extra documents went in last week.
Hence it doesn't matter which Gateway you log in through. China, France or the UK. You end up in the exact same system. The parameters are the same

    Hi Super Member,

From your reply you obviously know your stuff & im not going to doubt your knowledge on the up to date thai visa requirments for 2019......

I have taken a picture of the last page of the required documents that i was asked to submit for my application (27/09/2019) so im assuming as you quote are the extra documents that went in last week? So can you help me out with the extra documents,  No 7 & then No 8 & not to mention No 9 which is the exactly the same as No 8, ive already submitted my application to the Thai Embassy in London, so im just waiting for the outcome, if i am rejected what advise can you give me me to re-apply for a succsessful application?

Its not a screen shot shot, i just copied & pasted after i read the visa requirements & im just going by what i read on the London Thai Embassy website, so how do i access the update for the extra documents?

All the things you suggested are not required ARE now required as from the update last week.

Can you show me where you saw this as all i can see from the London Thai Embassy is this below....

    • Printout of visa application form submitted online, with bar code
    • Travel booking confirmation
    • Proof of accommodation in Thailand e.g. hotel booking, invitation letter from family or friend in Thailand

H Again, just read from another member & he quoted ( All the things you suggested are not required ARE now required as from the update last week.) i never saw this before applying, do you know this to be true ?

Hi, so i should be ok as i have basically gave them more than they actually needed? I did recall seeing what was needed for SETV & the METV was £6000 in the bank for at least 6 months & letter from employee, i thought that maybe they had changed the requirments at short notice as usual....

    Hi baz69er,

Just done a SETV for 60 days and needed help from this forum.

I scanned passport put in to file on computer took my picture with phone once I had them on file I needed to compress

them before the on line application would accept them I think they need to be below 200kb I also made them JPEG I used an online compression app for this

    then they were accepted.

I followed Senior Players advice and also others it drove me nuts but with help you will get it done. Good Luck

    Hi Peter,

Yeh it drove me nuts too, i have visited thailand for many years appling by post for a SETV without any problems, spend around 4 months in thailand as i have worked (seasonal) for the last 10 years or more, i do everything by the book & at first i thought wow online this will be so much easier, but for my experience it has been the opposite, problems with passport & also my passport pictures, with different results on signing out & signing back in with the same files, also had many occassions on the website freezing up & also a page with a page saying go back to home page, its very buggy, many times it fails & then says it has passed, i eventually got near the end & had a sigh of relief on the last document page, there was about 8 document sections, i got down to the last three, one of them took me many attempts as it didnt give you any indications on what was needed, i searched on the internet & it was asking for another passport duplicate, but the last two document requirments where the same, i think it said confirmation of employment & also pension statement, i managed to get my employer to send me confomation of my employment etc but i couldnt add my pension statement, i dont know why they wanted this as im not retiring, so i had to to add my confirmation of employment twice to complete the application, i have attatched a letter stating this & have included a copy of my pension statement, so im hoping they will except my application, the document requirments that i have enclosed are not what i have previously seen for a SETV so maybe they have changed the requirements, im hoping they will except my visa appplication as i have i have allready paid for flights which cannot be changed.

    Cheers

  12. Hi All,

I am having trouble submiting passport & photos on the new online application for a SETV, yesturday my scanned passport passed but my scanned photo was either to bigger file or didnt pass the ICAO standard, so today i paid for another set of passport photos & when trying again my passport failed ( same file) & my new photos also failed, i re-scanned my passport ( lesser DPI) & it passed, i still cannot get my photo to pass no matter what (dpi setting) i use, its either not up to the quality or too bigger file, i thought this new system was going to make things better but it has turned out to be a pain, would appreciate if anyone can see something that im doing wrong? I did notice that the the passport photo booth had a load more extra options, should i of chosen a photo friendly online scanning photo etc lol......

P.s If all fails can i still go there in person?

    Cheers in advance

I've covered a lot of your queries for applying for SETV from the London Thai Embassy on my own thread @baz69er and how I got around a lot of the requirements. In short, you don't need to supply an actual paid-for-flight confirmation, as I only supplied a quoted price confirmation with my name on it and still got my SETV. So long as the dates fall in line within the 60-days they won't question it. For more details, have a thorough read of my own thread.

    https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1118112-my-guide-to-online-e-visa-applications-via-london-thai-embassy-60-day-setv-by-post/#comments

I notice you didn't say how you intend to go about getting a SETV, whether that be from the London Thai Embassy or by a consular in person? Using the online process you first need to give them an address where you're staying as part of the application process. In your case it's a girlfriend's address, so you'll need to supply an invitation letter. The Supporting Documents state that if you don't have a hotel booking confirmation, then you need to supply an "invitation letter from family/friends in Thailand" of where you're intending staying. Again, I cover this in some detail on my own thread with regards to having only booked a 2-night hotel stay for the first few days. Where I go after, they're not concerned about.

I got my SETV without having an actual flight booked (again see my own thread) but the only drawback I see about extending beyond the 60-days is the onward flight, which you're intending to do. It'll be down to the airline you choose whether they let you board if you don't have a return flight. Some will, some won't. But I'm sure you're aware of all that as you're a seasoned traveller.

Hi thanks for the info, i will have a read through it, i was applying for my visa online.

    Cheers

  14. Hi,

I am a UK citizen & have been coming to thailand for many years, for the last 5 years i have been using (SETV) & staying for around 4 months with extensions etc, as everyone is aware they have changed the regulations, proof of funds, return ticket & proof of stay, i have always booked one way as my start dates for work varies, i can book a return no problem & if need be change my return flight, i will have around £5000 in my account for proof of funds, so that should cover my stay, i have a few concerms, i have been staying with my girlfriend for the last 5 years, she rents a small bungalow, as i have always done (TM30) a copy of the owners ID Card etc, would this be efficient with maybe a written letter from the owner stating the date i will be staying at there premises with my name & passport numer etc? Also are they expecting the return date out of thailand to be 60 days with a possible 30 days extension? I am planning to arrive on the 3 November, will stay for 3 months, fly to Malaysia to get a Visa & return to the UK around the middle of March, which i have done for the last couple of years without problems.....

Would appreciate any advice as although i have never overstayed etc im always worried when appling for a Visa & i want to get it right first time without any problems.....

    Thanks in Advance.....

Why, feel back for the cement truck driver?

It would appear that the cement truck was making a U-Turn from the left lane, cutting across the road and across the path of the Motorcycle...

Although from the damage it would appear that the Motorcycle was going quickly, the truck cut across it.

Why feel bad for someone who's caused the death of someone else? Feel bad for the friends and family of the deceased instead !!...

I don't know who reports these accidents but its obvious that the bike has gone into the side of the cab as the impact has taken the tyre off!

Obviously not as this has happened, I've been coming to ao nang for nearly 15 years & theres always been packs of stray dogs roaming around & not just the beach, a few years ago they came round where I live in the early hours & attacked my neighbours cat & its kittens & broke one of there backs.....

  17. I don't understand what is going through the heads of some people that are either riding motorbikes or driving cars here in thailand, thinking ahead isnt one of them, If you have spent a considerable amount of time here either riding a motorbike or a car then you should know what to expect, so god knows why you wouldnt know if you grew up here, well anyway I hope they both make a speedy recovery, but by the speed they hit the truck, if they do survive theyl probably have life changing injuries.....
