Two visits to Bangkok to get a passport that lasts 10 years is hardly an ordeal. I am due at "Trendy" in early August and looking forward to staying overnight. Until the Immigration was sorted out to provincial offices we had to visit Suan Plu, now that was agony.

To travel to a third world country without adequate health/personal accident insurance is foolhardy.
I have heard that some of those African countries barely have hospitals too.

well things are certainly going her way. They have just arrested some soldiers (2) for nicking 90k tonnes of rice in Pathum Thani.

Ginjock and his pals will along in a sec to offer congrats.

eh yellow toons, Yingluck just got off the water mismanagement charge, case dismissed. Good news uh.

Quite a lot when i read the farang redshirts post. You ?
Good to know that I bring 'happiness' into your life! Maybe more than the junta?
You bring sorrow into my life.
It pains me to see people still mesmerized by Thaksin and his checkbook.
What's a checkbook?

On paper the Thai 2.7 petrol is a slug. We don't have the 4 lt jobby here so can't comment.
Maybe in the heavy Fortuner, but not in the pickup truck. I had the TOT boys in my place installing some line and I had a spin in one their orange trucks. Its no slug.

I was at our local Honda dealer today having the Sonic serviced and looking at the new Waves.
Wave 110cc with black mag wheels RS model at 45,000 Baht and the Wave 125cc black mag wheels 56,000 Baht.
I was thinking of getting something more comfortable to ride, the Sonic apart from the odd puncture has been bullet proof. There will be no probs off loading it, a queue of local boys are wanting to buy it off me.
Besides cc any other big differences between the two Waves .

Prayuth could use good ole Chalerm as his poster boy for this campaign. Too much booze will turn you into a pathetic scumbag like this.
I wonder if a plan to have off-duty cops wearing balaclavas and driving round Thailand on motorbikes executing on sight anybody drinking or suspected to be drinking alcohol would have the Thaksinites crying Hallelujah as they did during his war on drugs? Double standards, much?
When I read garbage like the above its small wonder that General Prayuth declined the offer from Aliens to participate in the reform process. Its a Thai problem and only Thais can resolve it I believe he was quoted as saying.
Hopefully the NCPO does not read the TV news section, the topic & comments on Thaksin's birthday alone shows you what type of farangs we have over here.

These greedy bastards sure tricked Yingluck. She should have been out every day inspecting rice silos instead of wasting her time hanging around in Bangkok trying to run the country.
When did she ever try to run the country. That was already contracted out to Thaksin and his toadies.
see that one went completly over your head.

well its a lot different to the current Navara, bkkjames has pretty much covered it with his posts. Have a read of the spec sheets.
First pickup truck in Thailand with a 7 gears auto box, for starters.

At Surin, rice inspectors have been divided into four teams to check 101 granaries containing 8.3 million sacks. On this third day they had not found anything unusual about these stocks.
meanwhile in Isaan all ok so far.
The missing rice is more likely to be in yellow/PDRC supporting mill owners granaries. Lets wait until the final audit.
All OK except that we haven't been paid for our rice yet and the bank has no idea when this will happen. Who cares about the colour,as a farang your political views are not only irrelevant they aren't wanted, it must make the Thai masters from both sides laugh to see the fanatical support that they get from their barely tolerated guests.
Perhaps you have been paid and your wife has not told you yet. We have been paid for ours - and planted the new crop weeks back now. Thanks for your concerns.

love the Thai promo picture...with the proud owner driving on the wrong side of the road
wrong side of the road. You will have the colonials and Euros on yer tail for that.

Is the auto box only available on the 4 x 4 model??

He will not be up to much, well apart from getting a few decent meals inside him..
Gen Prayuth has made it clear he does not want anyone rocking the happy boat.

Oh, and i hate to rub salt in the wounds of those destined to venture into the horrendously titled "Trendy" building. But if you've ever suffered from claustrophobia stick a sack over your head before getting in the lift.
I have heard about that too, there are two lifts, one only goes to floor 10 and the other goes to floor 28. Thought a building like that would have more than 2 elavators. True?

Seen the add for the MG on Thai tv?, Has the Union flag draped over it and presumeably some Brit driving it.
Strange for a product that is Chinese but put together at their new factory in Thailand.
I owned an MGBT in the UK in the 70's, last of the chrome bumper types. It was crap and rusted to bits but the overdrive switch on the dashboard was kind of interesting.
Later I replaced it with a Toyota MR2, the difference between the two!.

So do TV members get their wives/GF 's fill in TM30 on your arrival?. I have never done it when returning.
Was there not a spate of this in Hua Hin some years back with foreigners being pinged for not reporting to immigration.

Got a 6 speed manual mazda bt50 and cannot fault it except for a few rattles from 38000 km driven mostly on Issan roads. (Bought new oct 2013 so clocking up the Km's fast)
Newish ride with rattles..................
My truck is near 7 years old and drives and sounds like new............
Build quality, design quality, so you don't have all these rattles.
But it is still just a Toyota.
Allowances have to made for the hard of hearing as age advances. All trucks rattle.

OH NO! Tea money just went from 200 to 300 baht?
More than that now. Tuesday 24 Jun.
Speed trap with camera's deployed sneakily some distance up the road and a large checkpoint and pay station (desk set up) on R21 - Saraburi- Lomsak Road. Fines were starting at 400 THB.

Consider the New Chevrolet Colorado, built by GM in partnership with Isuzu in Rayong. 6 speed AT with 2.8 turbo Duramax (Dmax) diesel delivers same power as the 3.2L Ford. Service interval 25,000 KM
The Chevrolet Colorado may be a good truck, but since its sales volume is near the
bottom of the list the ready availability of parts & service may be a concern.
Thought the engine in the new 2.8L Colorado is an Italian VM built in Brazil. May be wrong, often am!.
The fact that 80% of pickup sales here are between Toyota and Isuzu, the remainder have to fight it out for rest tells you what the Thais think of the market.
Our local Tessabaan has just purchased ten new (pink) refuse trucks, all on an Isuzu chassis. TOT have fleets of orange Vigo's. so there you go.
Changes To British Passport Services In Thailand
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

No need to throw the old and disabled card. I know of ex -pat men in their eighties who would bite your head off if you suggested they were too old to do anything.
They still go to immigration, get Thai DL's, and visit home countries.
If you decide to leave the safety of UK shores all these factors need considering, pensions, banking, health insurance etc. Known as the "what if___ factor"
HMPO could be real <deleted> and make us all fly home to renew a passport. Good Morning.
