I don't care his media skills. The problem is to get things done.
He busted some low level corrupties, which is good. But the big corruption guys are still happily around. And as they don't even try to flee they must be sure that they don't get any problems.
Maybe you can enlighten us a bit more about which low level corruptions he busted.
As far as I'm aware :
Phuket jetski thugs back on the beach
Taxi meter scam still going on.
Minivans still a lot without yellow license plate or registration number on the windscreen, however deadline was months ago.
Pattaya beach clean up was started, but stopped half way the process.
HuaHin beach vendors also back on the beach reportedly.
A few days ago there was a news article on this very forum that NOT ALL rice farmers have been compensated in the rice scam, however end of may already was announced that they ALL were paid.
Can't wait for the list of achieved items, but I'm not gonna hold ny breath.
not to worry too much, "mike - mad cow disease mac" will be along shortly to answer all points, he is the self nominated TV defender of all things junta and obsessed Shin spokesperson.

He's totally unqualified to be a civilian head of state in a country of 70 million.
yep I have been listening to his speech on Saturday morning radio, appears he is more qualified as a standup funny guy.

Nice of the man in uniform to squeeze his arm to see if he was telling the truth.
Should have paid his parking fee.
If you live and drive in Thailand you should know the procedure.
If he was back at home he would be looking at a 3000 baht fine.
Another Thai newspaper states that local witnesses apprehended the parking attendent from running away and the Brit had parked outside a convenient store and not in the parking lot.

There are carts if you wish, you play 5 holes and come back to the clubhouse, quick pit stop and then the next 4 holes. You can play more but obviously you will have to pay extra. Its only crowded when special competions are on.
The ex -pat society play in the mornings and the Thais usually mid/late afternoons. There is a driving range and putting & chipping areas, plus there is a club pro for lessons and a small shop but he is often hard to track down.
The clubhouse serves food and drinks, reasonably priced. I have been playing there 8 years, the course and facilities much improved, everyone gets on, locals and ex-pats, always a good day out.

Toffee's is bang opposite the main Isuzu dealership in town, there is a motley crew of ex-pats there and you need your BS detector finely tuned.
For a better class of peeps go to the Battle Horse Army barracks golf club. Opposite Big C supermarket. Meet every Tuesday & Fridays for golf comps and social, - 0930hrs.
Speaking of... I've been wanting to go play a round since I moved here. Can you rent clubs there? How much is the green fee?
There are limited sets of clubs on the driving range. Best to speak to the Thai Army Sergeant who is the green fee cashier in the club house. His name is Sunday.
Green fees are 220THB for 9 holes, that includes the caddy fee. The usual tip for a caddy is 100 THB upwards, up to you if you think it warrants more. Its a testing 9 holes with a water hazard on every hole. If you break 50 you have had a good day.
When you go through the security barrier just tell the soldiers you want to play golf and park up on the right just after, its a pretty straight forward layout.

If you have a NW card reader you can do a SWIFT transfer within 24 hours using the NW internet banking system. I read somewhere that because NW is a Building Society and not a clearing bank, they use HSBC for transfers.
A friend of mine is a UK HSBC customer and only pays a £4 fee for a SWIFT.

Is there a "time limit" for want of a better word for transferring your extension of stay from your old to your new passport? I'm in Bangkok for the next month and won't go back to Khon Kaen ( where I did my extension) until November. I'd hate to roll up to KK immi and they say something crazy like " Sorry you took too long to transfer your extension and it's no longer valid"
Paranoid, moi?
Good point, I picked up new passport on Tuesday (30th Sep) but cannot get to Immigration for at least 2 weeks, its a 500km round trip for me to Phitsanulok. Do you have to get this form/letter from Brit Embassy confiming passport is for real!!.
When I did my extension they just told me to bring both passports.
I will give the Embassy a call Monday just in case.

Where in this story does it say his age? It does give the age of her and a another Thai friend as she's 40, friend 56.
PATTAYA: -- Over the weekend, the Pattaya Police Chief, announced the arrest of a 40 year old Pattaya Bar Worker, who is alleged to have stolen money from the room safe of a 56 year old British Tourist.
At the beginning of the article, it was hard to spot as in bold type.

For fans of the smiley grill, they are now offering the BT50 Eclipse. Apparently a take on the X Series Isuzu.
Test report in a Bangkok based English language paper today.
One line of interest, it mentioned that the 3.2L engine in the Ranger will be dropped for 2015. The only engine available for the BT is the 2.2l.

I beg to differ,
But if it weren't for the British, they would all be under Japanese control now!
Speaking as a Brit we Brits had a lot of help from the Americans at the time. This is not to say that we couldn't have done it without them but it would have taken a few yeras and many deaths longer.
Thanks to the USA for helping us out at that time.
Bit of a side show really, Admiral Nimitz knew that. Oops we have crept into WW2

There have been a number of changes to the Pension and Bereavement rules since this thread was started.
Currently -and until April 2016, bereavement benefits include a £2000 lump sum + a weekly payment for 1 year to a widow over 45 with no eligible children, or a widowed parents allowance where there is a child in secondary education, under 20 years of age. There is no entitlement to a state pension for the widow.
From 6th April 2016, the bereavement benefits are being revamped, Basically a widow will be entitled to one of 2 payments. 1) approx £5000 lump sum if no eligible children and 2) approx £10,000 lump sum if there are eligible children. The lump sum may be paid in 2 parts. Again no entitlement to state pension.
The main problem with all these benefits and widows obtaining their just dues from their late husband's estate, savings, pensions, premium bonds etc is that most widows do not know how to go about claiming, and in many cases are unaware that they are entitled to anything.
If anyone wants any help on the above matters, advice on who can take care of the widows when the time comes, please PM me for full information.
Thanks for this, is there any info on length of NI contributions?, Did it not be 44 years for the bereavement allowance?.
In my own case I only have 36 years worth and took early redundacy package. So have not paid any further NI since moving to Thailand. - Thanks.

I did mine 2 weeks after expiry and got 6 years. It's good advice to wait until after expiry.
With respect in some provinces maybe not, so not always good advice.
Ditto, our DLT still require medical certificate. Recently MOT announced more medical conditions to be checked before issue of licence's.

Just to say my Wife collected the English Mans P/port today from Trendy, no probs they were most curteous.Thank to all who helped us get this done for him. .
Out of interest how long did he have to wait for his new passport after his renewal application was submitted?
Submitted my application on 4 Aug, HMPO Liverpool deducted the fee on 8 Aug from my CC.
Monday 22 Sep, town postie at my house with big DHL envelope, which at first thought would be my new passport but it was just the original docs and one x photo returned.
At 4.00pm phone call from Trendy, very polite lady informing me that my new passport had arrived and I could come and collect. Going down next week, bit of a trek from Phetchabun but a night out!.

spot on Mr Trans, 600 is the insurance premium, 3THB for some admin and 42.21 THB VAT. Making a grand total of 645.21, of which Mr Toyota rounds up to 646. I was not aware of the m/c check up, we have two Honda's both over 9 years old and the local Honda garage takes care of our tax and Insurance every year.

Must admit I hadn't heard of him but once a saw the clip of Jurrasic Park then I knew who he was. Was he related to David?
Brothers I believe
Yes, they were indeed brothers.
Alan
Yes David & Richard are brothers. Dickie is the oldest. Oddly enough on social media
heaps of tributes are flowing in for the death of David...who is still very much alive.
The world has lost another fine actor and highly acclaimed director...have a look at the numerous
awards that the epic film Gandhi received...just Google it.
For a young Richard find the film Brighton Rock on the web & have a watch.
Then there's the fantastic Flight Of The Phoenix...plus so many others...including Jurassic Park
for those who are not old enough to remember his earlier works.
BTW..Richard wasn't in Bridge On The River Kwai...that was Sir Alec Guinness.
Some great info here on "Dickie's" life in British Cinema...
Trivia: Lord Attenborough is the man most credited with saving british Cinema...he had a chat
with Margaret Thatcher about it....Google that...there's a rather funny line in there...
RIP Dickie. Condolences to the Attenborough family.
why the comment on "Bridge on the River Kwai". I have just checked all the posts here and apart from you no one has mentioned it.

Can anyone tell me what photocopies are reqiured to change an extension from old passport to new?
Thanks
Copies of both passport photo pages. Copy of the visa that gave you the entry you have been extending, entry stamp from that visa, your current extension stamp, valid re-entry permit if you have one and TM6 departure card.
Letter from embassy.
Transfer stamps form: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/transferstamp.pdf
I have just telephoned Phitsanulok Immigration and they mentioned none of the above. "Bring new and old passport" being their exact words. Cannot see why they want photocopies when they can see the original stamps.

Phetchabun province or City?, its a big province the 9th I believe.
There is a railway line that goes to Chai Badan in Lop Buri province, but it sort of turns right there to head off into Isaan country, so you would have to bus it up to Phetchabun anyway.
Looks like it will have to be bus or car/taxi. From Bangkok, Mor Chit Bus Terminal, No 14 buses and from Saraburi bus terminal, No 138's, or Bangkok No 14 class 2 bus. There are aslo the orange coloured bus shakers, not exactly slow as the drivers all think they are F1 drivers, but stops everywhere along the route 21.

Fine actor, Brighton Rock,Great Escape, fine director, Gandhi 8 Oscars, Labour peer and Chelsea supporter. Tragically lost 3 family, (eldest daughter one of them) in the 2004 Tsunami RIP Sir.
