I am being told by a very well educated thai friend that the word I want is "Sri-pan-ra-ya" which means good wife.

How many words are there for the word wife? I only ever used Mia. But what if you have a good wife or a wife from a good background, is there another word there? What about a loving wife, what's the word for that?
  4. If you wear jewellery as expensive as that, that's asking for trouble. How could they not see it coming?
  5. The amount of tourists being slapped about in this country is shocking low, and damages Thailand's reputation. But if you had to pick a nationality to slap, it must be Indians. They love to slap their own women and are unashamed of it. I've met meny Thai women who said they preferto avoid them becuase they are rough and often uncouth. He other main reason being hygene as they think its unmanly to wear deoderant. It's okay to slap tourists about...well sometimes. Alhough as an afterthought maybe downgrade it to light beatings as they did give us the best food in the world.
  6. Ien't there more than enough drugs in this country already?
  7. It may just be a rumour but whilst in the pub last night I overheard the reason those two in question went protesting is because when they arrived home that evening both had had thier blow up dolls stolen, and one of them only likes black ones, which are much harder to order, so they were both <deleted> off and they decided to cause a commotion so it was said down the pub. It wasn't politically motivated.
  8. What do they want to stop APEC for? Presumably they h3lieved a corellation exiwted between their intentions are actually achieving somethong. It would have been more prodcutive to go jogging round the park.
  9. Not a very pleasant story. Psychosis is too complex as a condition to attribute singular causes as being responsible for his behaviour. In all probability cannabis did trigger something, or at the very least upset the balance he was accustomed to but the root of the problem lies in his own character. Drugs don't make you go on the rampage, that's just him.
  10. Good man. In my experience there are many policemen in Bangkok that are very respectable characters. Good to see they can go beyond the call of duty to help out.
  11. Well, I haven't read this article in its entirety but it seems like a bunch of people hung around on the street causing trouble when they could have just gone home and played chess on line instead. They should learn that next time it's better to just go home and play chess on line instead of causing mischief...well that's what it reads like anyway.
  12. More rain? It's like being back in England except its completely different.
  13. You need to qualify that remark as its a bit vague. Which bars in Nana Plaza have girls dancing that don't wear bikinis?
  14. Have you actually been there?
  15. No it is not. And you are going to get more than one girl asking for a drin too but I have to say, the quality of the women in that bar is high at the moment.
  16. Hi there. I am seriously eyeing up a visit to demonia club and wondered if any posters have been there and what their experiences were like. As you may know, its an S&M club, and as you may also know, Thailand does not have a good track record for them, with those already closed down being something of a joke where the women don't really get into it. I don't want to waste my time and money on women who aren't really into and can't get you into it, which was the general norm. So if anyone's been let me know if you think its actually worth visiting. It's 900 baht just to get in and they drinks are far from cheap too, so I want to be sure first.

  18. Well I don't know. All I can say is that the police told me that tripping is not allowed on 6 month visas or any other kind of visa, and if they catch me doing it, they will bang me up. What they said was 'You're a bloody drug addict and we're sick of it, so we catch you tripping again and its steel bar for you.
  19. Ah yes, its called Crazy House.
  20. Well, like I said. In Long gun on soi cowboy they are all totally naked, and they have a lot of dancers there also. There is another that follows suit I think. Bear with me.
  21. Oh dear, me thinks some jail time is a coming.
  22. Hi there, I went to Soi Cowboy last night and noticed that in all the bars, the female dancers have to wear bikinis, well except Long gun. It must ten years or more since I last went to Nana Plaza. Is it the same deal there? They all wear bikinis in the bars and aren't nude. If there is a bar in Nana Plaza where the girls do get nude, could you please tell me what it's called. Thanks,.
  23. Hi all, I have just arrived in Bangkok and would like to work here. I've applied to a few things on-line but haven't had much response. I was wondering if anyone had any advice from previous experience on how to go about it? I am experienced and qualified but aged 50 I notice I am too old for some jobs. Does cold calling help much in Bangkok? What about social networks? Would Linkedin help much? Has anyone found means of finding work that the Thais seem particularly responsive too? Any thoughts would be appreciated. It may seem like a silly question to ask but the last time I was in Bangkok I also found it to be tougher than I expected. Where's best to look? Shopping Malls?
