  1. Highly unlikely, there are so many at it similarly.
  2. Seems to me like they are fiddling the books. I get paid cash in hand
  3. Well, I asked them what my tax number is and they don't know.
  4. What is the % I should be deducted by?
  5. I don't think its that simple. Technically I am not working legally, so how can I be officially taxed if I am on the wrong visa still?
  6. Hi there, I am currently working whilst on a tourist visa as the Non-Imm B is taking quite some time to sort out. The company I am working for is taxing me. Are they justified in doing that? I thought you had to have a work visa and permit to be eligible for taxation. Could someone tell me if I am right or wrong here.
  7. Hi there all. I have accepted a job in Thailand and been doing it for about 3 months but the school have asked me to get all my documents in order and sort the process out myself, which I have nearly done. I am working for them on a tourist visa, and should move onto the Non-Imm B in about one month but I have noticed they are taxing me whilst I am on a tourist visa. I told them this is not correct because I am not elligible to pay tax until I am on a work visa and have the work permit and that they have made a mistake is technically I cannot be classified as an employee whilst on a tourist visa. This is what I thought but who is in the right here, me or them?
  8. Google is generally unreliable if you are going beyond basic nouns and verbs, and even there questions marks exists. These two are far better. https://www.thai2english.com/ AND https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english-thai/
  9. In case you don't know, 'used to' in Thai is เคย. There's a song from a few years back where the lyrics have been translated and has some helpful expressions with 'used to'. It was a big hit in its day and is still a great song. I've attached the lyrics with transliterations, and the song too so you can sing along. I learnt quite a few new words in it, including Teardrop, (yok nam ta) amongst many others. Lyrics: https://deungdutjai.com/2012/01/15/reudooraunparadox/ And song: (old classic)

  10. Story is not well reported and a bit suspect if you ask me.
  11. They are normally helpful and its not worth their while to give you a hard time. I've been banged up over night twice. No problems whatsoever, just let you out the next day and let you get on with your business.
  12. This is a bit difficult to believe. Doesn't ring true.
  13. Thanks, I found a platform called Loom, works just fine.
  14. Could someone tell me if they know when the border closes at Poipet? I will be entering from aranya prathet to come to Poipet. I am being told about 9pm or 10pm, is this correct?
  15. I just called a travel agent in aranya and she said she thought it was 9pm but couldn't be sure. If someone knows, please post.
  16. Hearing far too many different answers on line. 5pm, 7pm, 10pm
  17. Hi guys, could someone tell me what time the border closes at aranyaprathet/poipet. It looks like I will be there for 7pmish. Is it still open at that time?
  18. Hi, I have been asked to give a demo lesson for a job. Which software allows you to use video of yourself and screen share. Zoom does but you need to be a paid up member to use it and make recordings you can send on. Is that my only option?
  19. Thanks, I thought that was the case. I think I will take the bus around 7am.
  20. Would someone care to suggest which is faster, bus or train. I checked it out. On the websites it says bus 5. 20 mins, for train 5 h 40 mins. Sound right? I don't remember the train being that fast but its a long time since I took it
  21. Could someone please tell me when the buses from Mho Chit Mai start going to Aranya Prathet in the morning please. How long do they usually take?
  22. Yes, I know but I was looking for something phrasal or slang based.
