I haven't changed my spending habits at all, I buy whatever I want or need whenever I want or need it. That said I don't in any way live an extravagant lifestyle. What I did alter is my location, I spent half the year in Cambodia this year.

I do wonder if anyone has ever had their account closed down whilst having an ongoing loan or even long term mortgage which is paid by direct debit from the main current account which is subject to closure? Because that may not end well for the bank if they cut off the only easy way to repay things....and we all know they're not so stupid when it comes to collecting.

It's not referring to crypto currencies and I believe there have been no such tokens issued since this alteration in the law.

The most important consideration here is how much tax has been paid on this 150,000 per month income already? If it's been taxed and you're from a country with a double taxation agreement then things will alter a lot.

I have questions about these gates which don't provide the stamp. It is important to me that I can track my own travel history (easy to do) and can prove it in the future with similar ease yet solid proof to back up my entry and exit dates to / from Thailand to establish that I am NOT tax resident in any given year. Do these automatic gates provide any proof of departure at all?

It's simple, add it to your list of places to never visit and keep it there.

The OECD calls for minimum 15% tax rates to encourage countries NOT to offer tax breaks to companies whereby they pay little to nothing. Here it's being twisted into an excuse to lower corporate taxes and screw the people over using VAT at the same time. To simplify things - they're talking about giving corporations a massive tax discount at the expense of private citizens.

There's a huge number of people out there who make money by selling and renting out other peoples houses on their behalf. It requires zero money.

They make it up as they go which is why the bank refused it - they know it's nonsense.

Exactly this, never tell them more than you need to as the results can be VERY unpredictable unless their English comprehension level is very good - and it's usually not. Once I was ordering a toasted sandwich and asked them to make it with white bread instead of brown bread. Same sandwich just different bread. Instead of getting the tuna / cheese melt on brown bread as listed on the menu I got a club sandwich on brown bread instead. I just ate it and it was indeed a tasty sandwich but I learned a valuable lesson that day - only ever speak the bare minimum unless it's completely necessary.

Interesting, when I went to the bank I did not ask for address verification. I first asked them to change my address to English which they did to my satisfaction, I had also changed address but it was in Thai so I told them to put it in English which they did. Then I asked for a printed statement for the last 3 months which they provided. I mentioned nothing about address verification as a bank statement with my address in English was the only requirement. I then used the printed statement with English language address for a foreign financial institution which accepts bank statements for their KYC process and I used it multiple times inside the same week while it was still fresh. No need to complicate things by telling them what you're going to use it for. If they accept a bank statement then that's good enough. Perhaps this is the difference here. Of course whether immigration will accept it is anyones guess but you can get it printed at the bank as a proper statement contains the address.

But I already have all the misery, poverty and idiocy I need, the rest I hire.

In the past I have went down to the bank and requested a printed statement for the last few months, this contains my address in English - but they can put it in Thai or whatever you tell them to put on it really. This is with Kasikorn

Ok, they want the extra money alright. The twisted narrative that the OECD setting a minimum tax rate is never supposed to justify tax cuts - it's there to encourage increases where large multi nationals are paying nothing. Yet here we are - Thailand considering corporation tax reductions but public VAT increases. Couldn't make it up.

Never sell in Thailand or any profit is treated as personal income which means taxes far higher than which might be considered normal capital gains levels depending on which country you're from. Now I'm not 100% sure on this but I would treat anything bought, traded and eventually sold on a Thai exchange as Thai income which means it would be taxed even if you're non resident - for example, less than 180 days.

If they make a mistake it's your fault. Remember where you are, there is NEVER any benefit to you. EVER.

They get zero sympathy from me. They couldn't be bothered to vote and this is what you end up with so they are the ONLY reason this government became elected = it's all on them and they're going to reap the rewards for years to come with nobody else to blame.

Well they all voted for this, no going back for 5 full years. They're really going to get what they voted for here, and I hope they choke on it 🤣
