  1. Your opinion does not change the real security value of the 3 router setup. That the date is 2021 not 2001, doesn’t change the benefits of that. Keeping IOT devices, that will virtually never have their security holes patched on a separate network is still excellent practice. The only significant changes are that routers now exist that can maintain separation and exclude those from the network of your main intelligent devices like phones and computers so reducing the number of modems needed. that you like simple dose not make it better. That there are many other ways of being insecure doesn’t make keeping everything from your washing machine & toaster to your NAS and computer on the same network a remotely good idea.
  2. I’m a little confused as to the problem you’re having. AFIK a good VPN is transparent. I don’t use one so can’t be sure but what functions are a problem? It certainly could be that it may be configurations that are mixed up.
  3. Yes it is included, however if you have ever had Apple TV+ free on your Apple ID it dose not apply a second time, so I used a different Apple ID
  4. I know you didn’t ! But as I mentioned you did quote US plumbing codes that are irrelevant in Thailand. Also there is no relevance visible to this thread in shower head valves.
  5. Not a problem. You can put any voltage you like through the mechanical float switches and use a couple of low voltage actuated mains contactors to switch the main power. Simple to design and install
  6. You are not sucking from a sealed mains system just look at all the threads explaining that. What is the point in quoting us pluming codes? They aren’t universal and definitely not followed hear or in many countries
  7. Just an update, the new Apple TV has been delivered, the new remote is a significant improvement on the old one, my Netflix subscription is, for the moment, Ultra HD (4K)
  8. So far Thai sounds OK but without the model number, of which there are many. It’s not clear if it’s a just a good price or a fantastic one. it will be something like this. MG873CH/A
  9. That’s really pretty. My electrical setup is a little simpler I have 3 x 2,500 tanks at ground level, they have isolator valves, usually 1 is shut off as a reserve, supply is via a ball float valve. The upper tank gets village water via a ball float valve, when the village pressure is low the is a max min switch controlled pump from our ground level tank supply. We have about 20 days before we notice there is no village water and need to switch in the 3rd ground tank. Last time the village water was shut off SWMBO got asked around 8 days after the shutdown how we were doing for water, we hadn’t noticed any change just when we looked, our ground level tanks were down to about 4,000 litres left. the benefit for us is that the water is always there virtually no thinking required.
  10. As @Crossy mentioned and you have a completely mistaken idea of the quality of any mains water supply in any country. Thailand is not remotely the worst but certainly not the best. No water supply is ever completely free of leaks. However since there is usually positive pressure the clean (or mostly clean) mains supply keeps the nasty bugs out. Once you start negative pressure with your sucking you start bringing in all the wonderful agrochemicals, bacteria, viruses, and other flora and fauna that you really really really don’t want
  11. Absolutely from my call his United Kingdom Call $0.023 20:31 $0.540 So a 20 minute call cost ฿25
  12. Have you talked to Apple tech support? If so what was the answer? If not what is the main point of posting here? So far you haven’t proved where the problem is. Just because your keyboard connects to others devices does not prove that the M1 MacMini is at fault, equally it doesn’t prove that the MacMini is not at fault. It is perfectly possible that the Bluetooth on the computer is only borderline compatible with the keyboard. There are different versions of Bluetooth, they may not all work well together. So far you have proved that either there is a connection problem (answer, new up to date keyboard) a keyboard compatibility problem (answer, new up to date keyboard) or the MacMini is faulty (answer, talk to Apple tech support, get it fixed. Don’t assume the answer.
  13. Partly correct. It’s the “food scientist” who added fat, salt & sugar (mostly HFCS) in amounts that don’t trigger the satisfaction stop functioning of the body, then put a couple of days calorie intake (+2,000) into a box that people will eat in 1 sitting just as a “snack” Processed food has a place, you will not take my Marmite away????. But diet just means what you eat, unfortunately for many westerners it’s upwards of 20% more than they need
  14. Neither, in a previous thread, the 16GB M1 version
  15. You may not have seen one, however I have had one fail that was replaced. It is the first and only router that I have had that has failed, most of the others I have, about 10, are in use daily and have been going strong for years, one is over 20 years old so routers are rather robust usually.
  16. Extremely frustrating, you are still within the 3 months SW tech support window, Apple tech support is extremely good, they have excellent English speakers and it sounds like a them problem. I would talk to them and see how they can help. They will call you once you put in the support request and take as much time on the call as is needed to find a solution, this could be as much as a replacement of the keyboard, Mac Mini or both (if the keyboard was purchased at the same time as the Mini).
  17. Interesting viewpoint, absolute utter total BS but interesting. Cooked food is the thing that permitted the humans to develop beyond nomadic Hunter gatherers, so producing virtually everything that you live on.
  18. You almost certainly must use a True modem as it’s supported by them and configured by them, if faulty get it changed. The TRUE DHCP server is not the problem (you were able to connect to the net using it). You can disable the TRUE DNS but must then give static IP addresses to any device that connects to the true modem (the range is 192.168.1.x where x=2~254). Your Linksys message that states “Autoconfiguration IPv4” is the problem now. You have to set a static IP on the Linksys. The only setting on the TRUE modem that it’s safe for you to change is it’s DNS server. It must still receive its DNS dynamically, just not serve DNS My devices connect to my private modem/s. The private modem/s connect to my providers modem. This is what you want. My advice, unless you enjoy frustration, is get someone who can visit either in person or virtually to help.
  19. Humm A single private IP range is inherently insecure. Correctly configured DNS should be an island, your device should only ever see a single DNS server. a simple secure network will have 3 DNS servers. 1 (A) will connect to the internet, 1 (B) will contain all the IOT devices and connect via (A) to the Net and the 3rd (C) will have all the intelligent devices like phones, tablets & computers on it. I've been running my own 2 and 3 DNS ranges behind an internet connection for many years with no problems that I didn't make then instantly correct, and vanishingly few of those. I completely agree that its way too easy to mess things up. Only if you enjoy the fun of making errors and finding out why you messed up the fixing the errors should you have a go at DIY without taking a networking class. But also realise that there are several ways to achieve the same end and often they are equally correct.
  20. You forgot that if you have DHCP turned off on the True device you have to manually set a 192.168.1.x on every other device that connects to it. The 169.254.x.x is another non routable address range like 192.168.x.x & 10.x.x.x also unless your Linksys can substitute for the true equipment it can’t have a public address. if the true modem is faulty the call them and they will change it.
  21. If you almost never connect anything new to the true router you can turn off DHCP on the True device and just use manual IP addressing, but that is not the problem as nothing on the Linksys network can see (should be able to see) the True DHCP server.
