There are quite a few passengers who will tell you that you are wrong. Correctly, immigration seldom asks. -

You are completely wrong. It is an immigration policy, though usually not required, it’s the airline who are responsible for flying you out and, if you don’t have money, paying for the flight also very possibly paying a fine to immigration, though naturally details are not published. Similarly immigration seldom asks for proof of adequate finances, though they can. from the London embassy website You may consider being refused entry to Thailand as an inconvenience -
that is a rather misleading statement, it needs quite a bit of clarification and even then is probably not true for many people in Thailand. Some of the problems that it won’t fix include significant power cuts, this is not unusual we get short ones at least weekly and ones lasting hours monthly. Those along with water cuts are not uncommon. So the answer for us is to have a pumped pressure system with high level feeder tank for gravity supply when the power is out. For @Wongkitlo the gravity fed system may well be ideal, however the tiny pipes have got to go to get reasonable flow along with the pressure the hight will give. That is false. Virtually all water supplies in Thailand use gravity fed water. The thing is that the water supply towers are high enough to provide sufficient pressure. Is this familiar? . So if you have enough hight, 20 metres will be OK, then a gravity feed will be fine if you engineer the pipes correctly. Correct the pipe work and it will be good. we have a gravity feed when the power is cut, the way we get that is that all pipes are 1 ½” with just the last few millimetres being ½” to the outlets. We didn’t put our immediate use tank high enough to provide instant water heater pressure because when it is using gravity feed the power is cut so there is no point. for you cutting the power to the pump at night May we’ll be enough.

For those who understand the actual principles most of physics is self evident. However the vast majority find it a black art specially when restricting the flow makes the water go farther. If you really want to blow even intelligent minds try getting into thermodynamics and the science of radiation barriers and the differences between reflective and radiant barriers specially when the same material can be both dependent on placement and orientation.

Regrettably to most people it is far from obvious until they have empirical evidence. SWMBO used a ¾” 100 metre pipe to water her plants, she complained bitterly when I bought a 1 ½” x 100 metre pipe saying it was a waste of money. Then she found it took a much shorter time to do the same job. So obvious? Only if you actually paid attention in physics classes and actually remember them.

The distance is only relevant if you are using small bore pipe, then you are going to get friction losses. Use at least a 2” pipe and as long as the head is not over about 20 metres and it should be OK
-
You are making a common mistake, you are introducing large friction losses for no benefit apart from piping costs. Feeding through a ½ will use more power, wear out the pump faster, reduce the litres per minute drastically, so is in general a bad idea. To get the best performance you should run the pipe with the same diameter pipe as the outlet from the pump. From the tank you should run the largest sensible pipe size. The importance of the tank to the rooms is not the distance, if you are using at least 2” pipe, but the hight from about midway in the tank to the outlets. If you are 10 meters from those 2 points you will get 1 bar of pressure, this is a very low pressure system. For each 10 meters hight you gain 1 bar of pressure. You need about 25 meters to equal the pressure of most pumps, to equal our pump you need 55 meters hight. So can you run ½ pipe from the pump? Absolutely. It’s a bad idea. Can you run ½ pipe from the tank? Yes you can but it’s a terribly bad idea and your flow is going to match a geriatric snail. For what it’s worth you do not have anything resembling a sealed system.

I don’t know, I see is SWMBO has an answer.

Stone is probably going to be less than 1/5 of the price, possibly a little more expensive if you want to add edging to it, we haven’t bothered SWMBO hasn’t said she wants anything more and the garden is her territory. 5 years ago 2 years ago

Not 10 mins, it’s going to take at least 30 to spread it out. Put a layer of blue sheet to avoid the stone sinking into the soil and it’s the easiest, fastest way. We did this.

Where in BKK can i sell my iPhone 13 Pro max

That my well be what you wanted it to be as it is apparently deflecting from your omissions. However you have managed to qualify for ”Plonk” TTFN -
They certainly are available however they are neither lightweight nor thin.

Don’t bet that your termites have the same taste profile. Use Chanderite to be safe.

You are still jumping to conclusions while still maintaining your information was completely correct, it demonstrably is not and yet you still haven’t admitted you missed out on one of the versions. You are also inferring that my sole reason for not being interested is the support for the Thai GSM/EDGE bands, while there are more reasons that I didn’t bother with enumerating, the restrictions of the GSM/EDGE bands is one of them. I am not so parochial in the countries I visit. You may, or may not, visit places where your version has connection challenges. -

My Thai friends in the village have exactly the same experience as my wife has, they do not know any way to find true craftsmen. They are all online so that is no guarantee. The only way I and SWMBO have found craftsmanship is, I the first instance employing one, in the second instance we got lucky with a recommendation, we hadn’t had the same kind of luck with other referrals. -

The problem is that it is extremely difficult to actually find someone who’s skilled. So please tell us poor benighted prospective employers how to do that. As I have said I know an electrician and 2 welders whose work I would wholeheartedly recommend. I know of a couple of groups employed by the builder we used who are probably OK but they are only employed by them. -
Is that a question for me? If so then yes I do, but would never use it as flooring material hence the ????

Safety for solo travellers in the Philippines

And exactly how is that relevant? it is perfectly possible to make a relationship with a Filipino or Filipina and so gain the family group protection. So that is an excellent reason to avoid the reasonable chances of problems, isn’t it. So as I said that is the way to have a verity of good food. There are a few Filipino meals that are reasonable, though the seasoning is mostly confined to salt and garlic. The problem is not that you cannot get reasonably good Filipino meals, it is that there is little variation in what is available so you are forced to eat non Filipino food or the same few dishes. Having lived in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and visited South Korea, Japan easily is the safest place with very little crime, if you ignore bicycle and motorcycle theft, virtually every Japanese person of the thousands I interacted with over the years has had at least 1 bicycle stolen, some several, personally I have had 2 motorcycles stolen. But for other things even items dropped are usually returned to the owner, possibly because it is expected that there will be a 10% finders fee, even as a foreigner I was told of the custom be the police. -

That is not quite accurate. The few tourists areas or enclaves I have been to felt no different to virtually all of Thailand in that they felt safe, the resorts were all kept clean and tidy. Though the infrastructure outside the resorts in the enclave was not well maintained, they are a reasonably relaxing safe enough place to be. However these were isolated geographically from the rest of the country, the vast majority is badly maintained, dirty, polluted, extremely crowded, and the feeling outside the enclaves is that you must keep hyper aware to avoid problems. If you are within a family group then you will be protected by them and the family groups are very large by even Thai standards, a close family group may well be 30~50 people, a small nuclear family is likely to have 6 children, families of over 10 kids are not unusual. -

I know two highly skilled workers. Both have their own tools, though they may not have the complete range, I have lent things like my compressor and spray gun to one of them, the other has a bigger selection and much higher quality electrical equipment than I do. However they are the exception and usually your assessment is accurate -

The Philippines I have found is the worst place for rubbish in the countryside, it’s dangerous if you go to the wrong places, the good food is anything but Filipino, there are excellent foreign restaurants, I saw a Filipino get on a bus then take out a very ordinary watch from his pocket to put on his wrist, clearly he didn’t feel it was safe. Shopping centres have guard stations where people leave their hand guns. Hotels are expensive. The good points are that it has the biggest variety of marine life in the world, once you get to the tourist areas it is probably quite safe. If I had the money to spend on diving I would visit more often however I got met off the plane and driven directly to the dive resort, about an 8 hour trip, so it’s not an inexpensive option In many places in the Philippines I felt unsafe. I have never felt unsafe in Thailand. You can have problems in Thailand but mostly you have to look for them. -

I have found that a reasonably competent welder will construct shelves for a much lower cost than you are suggesting. The shelves in my picture above are half of a pair that cost $80 for labour the materials were extra but I doubt they were as much as $80 . You can easily add adjustable shelves by using the shelf brackets and rails that are available from the big stores, an example are these two sets here. they are specifically designed as shallow units, you can easily have bigger ones. No, l leave that to the locals as they have experience and are more skilled than I and the cost is minimal. I do things that I can do competently, which for me is woodworking with things like this. -

You wouldn’t have any significantly larger amount of humidity hanging around as the racks will not accumulate water and your walls are not going to prevent airflow depending on the construction. Also assuming you are going to want to access the items you are storing you will need walkways between shelving so allowing for airflow. The kind of shelving I am talking about is like this. FWIW sandbags, unless you are going to be moving them out as soon as any floods subside, are going to retain large amounts of water so making the area even more humid. Sandbags are a very temporary flood control method so you will need an area to store them
