Taxation of foreighners in S/E Asia?
Your xenophobia is really raging! You seem to have little to no knowledge of the Thai legal system. There are numerous examples of people going to the court system and being impartially judged by the courts. There are no normal cases that have been reported where there was corruption involved in the court. There are certainly numerous cases where pretty pieces of paper avoided going to court but once in the court it is reportedly scrupulously fair. For sure if you have millions of dollars to throw into the fight you are likely to have a good outcome, the majority don’t and can rely on the objectivity of the justices.

Quickwire Products
There are a couple of good reviews and YouTube tests that address both the original and copies of the Wago connectors, AFIR the failure point of all connectors was at sustained currents of 5 to ten times the suggested maximum. None of the connectors themselves failed and the point at which the housings started failing was at several minutes into massive overload current, at which point the wire insulation had also failed. So certainly the really cheap, non wago style connectors aren’t suitable for anything much over 3A but the wago copies are holding strong at over 50A sustained draw, so good for virtually any application.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
It rather depends on your definition or understanding of “auditing” But yes, if you read through the numerous threads hear you will find at least 1 firsthand report. Are there more? Probably. Are they as draconian as is possible? Probably not. Are there many more? Probably not.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Who pronounced you as the ultimate authority on tax matters? I know a of at least one area where your position is in direct conflict with some rather highly placed professionals who are in direct contact with those who are at the top levels of the TRD so have an actual current knowledge. FWIW no I’m not bothering to correct your misinformation, you are welcome to continue.

Just because people don’t know the letter of the law doesn’t make it in anyway uncertain. Nor does uninformed discussion change anything.

paying taxes in thailand as an american
You would have to decide if you have Thai tax to pay. if you decide yes then you must file a tax return and pay tax. if you decide no, then no tax return, no tax to pay. But then you hope that you will not be audited by the TRD (the number of audits is not great) and you have to hope that your choices of assessable income are correct. if you were correct, no problem if you were wrong, anywhere from a slap on the wrist to financial penalties and possibly incarceration.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
I don’t agree that it is in anyway unclear. The answer question that you haven’t seen answered is blindingly obvious. If you are not tax resident in any year you have no tax to pay! How is that not clear!!!

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Totally agree If true, it quite possibly is, it is only relevant to HMRC it doesn’t effect TRD. Again that is the U.K. tax law Here it looks as if you are using U.K. rules and regulations to interpret how Thailand’s revenue department views things the TRD view is Once again you are commingling the HMRC & TRD views I don’t believe that the TRD will agree. I believe that the TRD will take the simple view point that you purchased a property for X you sold the property for X times Y = Z therefore you have a capital gain of Z - Y. So if even you have not paid U.K. C.G.T. All amounts remitted to Thailand that are over the initial purchase price (probably they will prorate the gain so a percentage of funds remitted are taxable) are assessable income, but only if you are tax resident this year and in future years (when the money is remitted), and the sale happened while you are tax resident, and you remit the proceeds while you are tax resident. The U.K. DTC on capital gains while short is not remotely simple So it is impossible to answer your question as to will you have to pay Thai tax on the money from selling your house in the U.K. It is clear that in some circumstances yes you are liable to pay Thai tax. It is also perfectly possible to arrange things so that you have no Thai tax liability on remitting the money

You should really read this thread and all the others, as your questions are all discussed in them. your property will attract CGT in the U.K. and CG are assessable in Thailand

Making a Drive way - weed matt yes or no?
You can surmise what ever you like. That you are totally wrong maybe if interest to you or it may not. As to the structural strength, again you are guessing. Our drive has had everything from a 40 Tonne articulated lorry through 10 wheel 7 tonne tricks to a tricycle over it with zero problems and no it was never properly compacted nor structurally layered
-
Making a Drive way - weed matt yes or no?
I disagree with that analysis our drive is around 1.5 cm and it hasn’t failed in over 7 years of tropical storms.
-
Making a Drive way - weed matt yes or no?
I missed that, however for his use it would be rather OTT don’t you think? I don’t know the length of the drive but a 3 meter wide drive is a quite narrow one, ours is between 4 and 5 meters anyway for 50 meters x 4 meters x 30 cm he needs 78.5 cubic yards or over 100 tons At a more reasonable 3 cm it is still probably overkill but is 7.8 Cu or 2 bigger trucks I suspect we used about 1.5 cm and probably 5 cu metres

Making a Drive way - weed matt yes or no?
I didn’t use “heen klook stone” it would possibly have been better and maybe cheaper, I just used the standard stone used in concrete. As to how deep, enough to cover the shade cloth or blue sheet on the drive but not quite enough on the parking area. as you can see the drive used about 5 cubic meters just possibly 10 I don’t remember excellent advice with that I totally disagree, having seen drives that have not used a base , in a few years or less the stone has disappeared and has more added. the suggestion to use 150mm or 300mm of stone while maybe well intentioned will probably be ludicrously expensive. If you just doo the math your drive is probably 2 to 3 meters wide wile I have no idea of the length ours is about 30 meters long, yours looks to be several hundred metres. So with the suggested thickness you are looking at hundreds of cubic meters of stone. the cost of a few rolls of blue sheet, which will reduce the amount of stone you will need both now and in the future will easily pay for itself

How Can I Obtain Cat8 cable in Thailand? But must be reliable!
I think that it was because of this that SWMBO decided he was our 3rd beasty. about 2 years ago and all 3 a year ago and almost now

How Can I Obtain Cat8 cable in Thailand? But must be reliable!
Yes. I will choose this type. Also, does this not also provide shielding? No shielding. It is a mild steel wire and is incorporated above the Cat 6 into the exterior grade plastic sheath .it is only really useful for over air exterior runs. It would be a bear to work with if you try it in a house and of no benefit. Exterior grade will be difficult enough, and though I think pointless may hold up better but inside it would only be rodent damage and I have no idea if the sheathing is more or less tasty.

The Cat 1 was born with a very kinked and virtually non existent tail.

Making a Drive way - weed matt yes or no?
You need something to prevent it disappearing into the soil. I used both shade cloth and the standard blue plastic sheet (on different sections) that you can get in 100 meter (I think) rolls before laying gravel on it. We haven’t bothered to stop the grass as we like the more rustic look. I think the drive has been down over 7 years and it is still perfectly OK and hasn’t needed extra gravel This was when it was about a year old in 2017 and last year

How Can I Obtain Cat8 cable in Thailand? But must be reliable!
My local electrical supply shop in Udon supplied mine, if you have a good supply shop they will carry, or be able to order, any quality and quantity you want. The exterior cable is the kind used by the PEA and has a steel support wire incorporated into the insulation. though is it now technically a Cat 7? 😉 having cabled up with Cat 6 both interior and exterior, it was difficult enough Cat 8 is a whole different and more difficult job

It is rather difficult to run PoE security cameras over WiFi isn’t it? It is rather difficult to have a significant UPS setup that powers cameras over 70 meters away with WiFi as well. So the simple CCTV uninterruptible setup with around 100 meters of cable, 8 cameras, a 2TB hard disk and a 24v 8 hour runtime UPS that has survived numerous power cuts and is extremely difficult to block via jamming, all needs Ethernet. That doesn’t address the numerous IoT devices that mean several WiFi networks are required to avoid the net dropping to the pace of an arthritic slug.

Weak water flow and pressure
it is perfectly possible to shade the wall with plastic planking, however to have the best effect anything you use should not be attached to the wall, but stand off the wall and allow airflow between it and the wall so as to prevent heat transfer.

I'm planning to stay in Thailand over 6 months. Would Thai government try to tax me?
Enforcement is enforcement. You claimed no enforcement. A fine for not complying is enforcement. Specially because if you comply you pay nothing, if you do not comply there is usually a 2,000 baht (up to 4,000 baht) fine. Keep not complying and you will keep getting fined 2,000. Comply, nothing to pay Q.E.D. enforcement. That the enforcement is not sufficient for some people to bother with doesn’t change the fact that there is enforcement. I well remember the time that an overstay cost 100 per day, people didn’t pay much attention Then it jumped to 500 a day, still many paid no attention. Now as well as the cost there is a progressive ban on reentry. Is that enforcement at the beginning? Of course it was. Just because the penalties got greater doesn’t change the fact of enforcement.

It is actually 3 years if you have filed tax returns and 10 years if you have filed no returns.
