  1. Looking for lodging,4-11 days near BTS Phromphong Station, more specifically, down Sukumvit Soi 39.

Am used to paying 8-900 baht a night, and big discount for a week, in another part of BKK, but would like to be closer.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

  2. This time of year we generally get questions about the above.

I have just renewed contact with Joe Krebs, and have calendar info new to me:

His tax office opens 15 February until 15 June.

He asked me to resend him my tax data at that time.

  3. There are more than 3 agents in town, but generally here, only 3 are talked about.

Two of these have been highly recommended herein, the one on Chiangmailand Rd.,

and the other, Osthaivisa, between Thanons Sirimagalajarn and Nimman.

The latter one is headed by Khun Pom and Khun Lalydar, with their ikewise excellent staff.

Mentioning this lest the best get lost in the shuffle since there has been some innuendo about some unidentifed agency.

  4. A very dangerous crossing in CM is on the zebra path front of Kad Suan Kaew. Have seen 4 accidents and attendant

    ambulances in 2 weeks,

and been told by a store-owner across the road, that, in the past 14 years, 10 have died there.

Might have that backward; maybe 14 in 10 years, but you get the picture.

    He keeps first aid supplies handy, and does not even look up to see the body flying when he hears a "whack";

just whips out his phone and calls for medical assistance. Good Thai man.

There are one or two lights on Huay Kaew Road between Nimman and the moat, and apparently authorities do not want to

further interfere with traffic any more than that.

Bangkok taught me not to cross at zebras. Seem to be a signal for speeding up. Yet I do cross there if I think i have a

chance. Oftentimes at least one tuk-tuk is parked at the zebra, there, obstructing the pedestrians' view from the Nimman

    direction.

Interesting, too, is that crosing the zebra toward KSK, one arrives at the motor exit of KSK and deparing moto-sai.

Just reporting in the hope that the problem will be alleviated and---that I stay alert

  5. Rather than wait for Thai banks or Thai mail to catch up with me, i pro-actively went to each Thai bank, and asked them to take my info, even bringing along my own blank W9 forms, just in case.

    Could get more than messy for any American or perhaps, eg, a foreigner dealing with an American bank, not to comply.;

Do not have rhe finances to qualify for FBAR reports, so for me it is very simple---just fill out the same form-W9 for the Thai banks that I filled out when in the USA at an American bank.

  6. We are creator beings. Is it not true? Witness the great creativity in every culture.

We can therefore create the future.

Picture adding petrol to the fire of the monk, and there it would be, whether added with actions, word, or thoughts.

On the other hand, see Thailand at peace, and it will be so. Hold to that idea!

However, there can also be different time-lines of our own individual choosing, creations separate from one another.

    How do you choose?

And will you be happy with the personal karma resulting from your choice?

  7. There is a Law of Unintended Consequences.

What might be the reaction of some in the North and elsewhere to having their mosques burned?

Muslims outside the four southern provinces have kept themselves away from the warfare in the South. Thanks be!

Would you want these any of theseThai Muslims, who are not Thai Malays, to join hands with their fellow religionists in the

    south?

And are you so sure even that the southern problem is one primaily of religion, rarher than ethnicly cultural differences?

Perhaps you come from a superior religion? If so, such hubris!

You want to fall for the international propaganda that inflames one country after another? Such ignorance!

And for whose benefit? Cui bono?

There are increasing waves of positive energy enveloping the planet right now. Many of us can feel it, encouraging us to

greater attitudes and activities of positivity and service-to-others.

Yet there are those who cannot handle these changes, and react negatively, in service-to-self.

    Is that where you stand?

And ready to stand in the cross-fire if this erupts?

This is supposed to be the land of loving kindness (metta), and compassion (karuna). If we learn to live nothing else

    here, that is enough.

  8. KSK area is very convenient, and somewhat ideal for a first timer, but IMO, too many who want to pretend they live in the west. A very high percentage of "best hamburger" and "where to buy Kraft Mayonaise" TV posts, originate within 500 meters of KSK. For a few months of the year as a snowbird; the MM vicinity would be just as good. For the long term, step out of your western shadow and find popular Thai oriented locations. Your wallet will thank you. The other foreigners are either friendly or not friendly, and it doesn't take long to figure out, but don't expect some kind of planned community for retirees....

    MM vicinity? Where is that?

  9. A number of threads in CM forum.

Lot of praise for a place out near Global House.

Also www.hearsouce.com, by mail form USA, inexpensive, self-adjusting, etc.

    And more....

  10. Retirement extension for 65K month option group: bankbook and copy of same and letter from bank:

I know someone, dealing with an agent , did not need to prepare any of these three. ...... Is this procedure general at CNX

for everybody in this group, or just for clients of some agents?

It seems to me these 3 requirements are unnecesary, unless on is going with the 888

    0K option.

But I have alway met this requirements, simply showing as little sometimes as 2k Bhat.

Perhaps in this case, Immig. simply wants to know one has a bank account.

Would like to drop preparing these 3 itms if not needed.

  11. I'm not strong in Latin. There is something about "so passes the fame of the world" - Sic tranzit gloria mundi - not sure? People with classical education can help to correct me.

Shame... Ungrateful humanity... Did it have something to do with cracking natural oil???

You get a 99% from this classics teacher.

Keep the same sound, but change the z to an s in "transit". above.

  12. Very nice!

I had just come across 22 pages here on ThaiVisa where residents of another TH locale have for years been listing good

things as they come across them.

No bashingat all; everything so positive.

And then I came to the CM forum and found this similar upbeat post immediately. Maybe people would like to add by

    contributing their own lists hereon,

or for all I know, we have such a topic running already.
