  1. My reply is somewhat off topic, because my recent experience is not with Immigration, but with an agent, who suggested that 45 days requires a special reason for early processing, and best to have a ticket showing you will be out of town; other wise 30days.

In all fairness, this is the same agent who suggests that the 2013 declaration by Immigration, (on paper, in Thai and English, somewhere here at t-v), that embassy Letters of Verification of Income are good for 6 months----that this understanding is questionable. The agent plans to resolve doubts over that one with Immigration soon.

  2. I am finding it dificult responding to to your questions, but do know a chiropractor who sometimes recommends massage work, Dr. Philip Parry, at Rajavej hospital. There is also aTha chiropractor (and practitioner of TTM) at (not sure of name of hosptital, something like "SiamRad". Not recommending anyone, just saying they are available, up to you. Dr. Parry---my experience--- is soft touch, but I am cautious about my neck in a strange country. Good luck!....(Dr. Parry wil not charge if he cannot do anything for you.)

  3. Recently someone on a CM forum indicated 90 day reports shold be mailed to CM Immigration 20 days ahead of time. Is this correct? I had always thought it was15 days.

Also, on the non-O retirement extension, appontment 45 days ahead of expiration date OK, or still 30 days?

If 45, is there an official document we can print out and bring with us, just in case?

  4. Can give you email address in BKK if you want (private individual, I think). Will mail to you, atl east last time I got one.

Would put address right here, but do not know if it would be OK with forum rules.

  5. You have been created as an individual with the freedom to choose to follow as many religions as you want, or none at all. All roads lead Home, even one's own un-organized, individual way. I value highly both the teachers you mentioned, and others, too, but find it more helpful to take their teadhings as philosophical food for thought, and even better, to live the teachings. After the teacher has left, the passage of time lessens the purity of the teachings, so that we are led to listen within.

Religions can be helps and hindrances, too, on our way to realizing spirituality. Thanks be!

I will start learning Russian , they do offer different languages at some schools. Lets see how the immigration will handle that !

They will (maybe) delay your extension until they can arrange for an Immigration officer that speaks Russian to de-brief you.

From another thread on this topic, if you are learning a different language from Thai, then they will still test your Thai language skills!!

Woud this mean that if one is studying Spanish, for example, he would still be tested onThai---and even if he had not studied Thai?..........

  7. Very smooth-----my visit to local K-Bank branch today. I offered additional info if they needed for American Fatca, and was given a page, in Thai, from some Thai banker's association, and handed a telephone to converse with a higher-up, in English.

Upshot of my understanding, as interpreted from their understanding: existing account holders have to do nothing, but new account applicants, starting July 1, will need to provide more info than before.

Another item that Thais handle very efficiently, in my estimation: ------banking.

  8. If this were my case, i would go back and report everything. Always best to be compliant.

In the end run, it is your responsibility to make the decision as you see fit.

If you want to consult with an American CPA here in TH, Joe Krebs at http://www.us-taxpayers.com. He is here only the first six months of the year.

Your data is simple, but maybe he would have his own subjective idea of what to do.

  9. Walk thru Kad Suan Kaew (Central Dept. Store on Huay Kaew Road) to the back, and you will find "Lotus (Pad Suan Kaew?) Hotel". Swimming pool, too , pretty new---- the fitness facilities....Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel next door to KSK, in the front, also.

Another around, there too, but do not have the info, back behind the other side of the street somewhere.

  10. Does anyone know if the international mail for Chiang Mai 50200 (which I am presuming comes thru

BKK)---- is forwarded to just one post office in 50200, and then redistributed from there to others?

I am thinking perhaps I could sove the repeating problem of missing mail, by signing up for a post ofice

box at some main teminal, thus cutting down thenumber of people handling the mail.

I have checked at my apartment, and feel they are doing a professional job there with mail delivery.

And never a problem with packages at the apartment, because the PO insists we must sign for them.

So far the missing includes two social security letter, a Thai immigration letter, and a birthday card.

Thanks for your help. I am in Tambon Suthep, Amphur Muang.

  11. My own experience, naive me, first day in Thailand:

Had met a lady 11 years ago on the internet, Thai, somewhat high up in the government bureaucracy, arranged to meet on my arrival in BKK. She shows, with a witness I guess, we go to the temple, monk ties white strings around our wrists.

Good sport me, no problem in kneeling before the monk, figuring this is some exotic (to me) procedure, and want to be respectful in this culture new to me.

No discussion of what it meant, and we soon went our separate ways.

Hey, am I married?-----or was it just a general or friendship blessing?

If it was a marriage, it brings up another topic, perhaps for another thread: Why do so many other women, with house and car, want you/me to move in the first night here, and stay? It does not seem like money is the answer.

In India, the ancient custom is, apparently, to first be acquainted for four seasons, and then make your move. In Thailand:------ another mystery for me.

  12. You only have tomorrow to do your extension. Friday is a holiday.

They might not charge overstay if you do it on Monday since it expired on a holiday weekend. But you will need to be sure you have all the required documents needed.

What are these documents? I have recent letter of proof of income over 65,000 baht a month notarized by US consulate. I have current lease. Passport of course. Pictures can be gotten there. Is there anything else? thx ubonjoe. Tomorrow is the goal for sure.

Sorry cant copy and post so it's in long hand.

    Non-Immigrant visa type 0.

    Over fifty.

    not permitted to enter Thailand.

Evidence of income 65,000bt a month or 800,00k in Thai bank.

Form TM.7 can get that there.

Copy of passport (Data page, Visa page, arrival stamp page TM.6)

1 2" passport photo for visa and another if you want an exit visa.

1.900bt CASH 1,000 for exit visa single, Multi 3,800bt.

If monies in Thai bank a letter not more than 7 day's old from same, and your pass book made up on the DAY you request your visa.

For income from abroad letter from your consulate or embassy confirming all monies not more that 30 day's old.

    Address confirmation.

N/B all copy's must be on a separate page.

    Hope this help's.

Info as of today as just done mine.

Regarding above 'income from abroad letter from your consulate or embassy confirming all monies not more than 3O days old",

was there not a recent change stating the leter could be up to 6 months old? This queston had come aboiut before with regard to the USA Embassy outreach program,. in that their staff would visit certain provinces once (or twice?) a year to issue such letters, thus saving their citizens a trip to Bangkok or Chiang Mai, with the implication that a 6 month ruling would apply to all nationalities.

    Can anyone confirm this?
