  1. I have only flown once into Chek Lap Kok and it was the most scariest landing I have ever experienced, I was seated near the rear on a 747 and on touchdown it just started to tail slap.

Yet done many uneventful landings at Kia Tak.

    Hope all recover soon.

Do you think the injured read your post? I just don't see the point of such replies.

Basil's kind quote did seem somehat out-of-place in a thread so full of criticism. Yet, whether he realized the full effect of his feeling of compassion or not (perhaps simply replying spontneously, naturally), the energy behind his thought and words did go silently to the injured, and inspired some others reading here to send their own hopes, prayers, wishes, whether written or not.

  2. Chiang mai has a good vibe in general, so perhaps safe to let a tour company take your passport...Can more certainly be a risky venture in some locations however. (Witness also the related current story of stolen labels being put in passports.) And OK with your passport owner (not you, your government) to let the document out of your hands?.....Also, closer then BKK, Khon Kaen may have Lao consulate.

  3. "True man can be killed but he cannot be insulted," Mr. Chirawat told police, citing a well-known Thai proverb.

Another point ov view: The evolved man cannot be kiled necause he is not the body, nor can he be insulted because he is mindful, observing situations, while allowing thoughts and feelings to pass by without grasping onto them.

  4. "Also, mods, is not post 18 treading rather close to where we are advised not to go?"........So are you reporting yourself ???

The quotes in the story above by hypocritical village idiots/retards Somchai and Chalerm really takes the cake. Talk about leaving yourself wide open ! Do their memories not go back as far as 2010 ?

Cannot wait to hear what red flag waving zombie supporters of these goons have to say in their defense, it will make interesting reading at least.

When posts were deleted, including the original post 18, apparently numbers were moved to provide continuity if numbering, so I wound up with the new number 18 for my post. Ironic, even funny, depending on one's sense of humour.

  5. I am for freedom of expression. Nevertheless, the strong feeling and verbiage versus certain people of power, often expressed on this forum, may come back to hurt all foreigners. This is not a private forum. Hence prudence might be a good option. Freedom, balanced with responsibility.

Also, mods, is not post 18 treading rather close to where we are advised not to go?

My humble thoughts, respectfully expressed, for consideratioon; not looking for animosity in return.

  6. So I was at 100% corract than..... Again so you understand... You sit

down, you wtite whatever income without any whatsoever proof and than

you get a piece of paper from your embassy stating the same under

pretences that you are in fact in real life is having this income that

    you stated.....

The rest is a load of words when defending this..... And thai

immigration are more and more aware of this american style, and that put

a shadow unfortunately on the rest of us..... sorry to say.....

Yes I can understand that your embassy is NOT keeping any copies.....

    So that was cleared than....

    Glegolo

Same old, same old assumption that Americans are pretending they have real incomes, as you indicate. It is merely an assumption, and not backed up by what I know of my fellow Americans. Probably, according to human nature and statistical probility, there has been a violation or two of ethical procedure in this matter, but this is human nature, not American. Their karma will out the few eventually. Please do not judge your fellow forum members by their nationality.
And the Americans still have to back up the notarizations with pertinent documentation presented to the Thai Immigration staff, an understandable request upon their part, in effect equaling the steps people from other countries have to go thru.
  7. One can obtain an IDP at Hang Don Land Transport, requirements similar to regular TH license. I do not recall the requirements exactly, but 2 glossy photos are needed. Good for one year. Upstairs a small piece of paper with the requirements is available upon request. Do not recall the requirement for a 5-year TH domestic license first, but the post above makes sense.

  8. naboo and onthedarkside. Seems like conflicting replies to me. naboo says went 11 months after expiry date of one year license and they told him okay. Onthedarkside says you won't be legal if you are 20 days late.. My mind tends to side with onthedarkside. Anyone else had experience with going after license expired?

What I get from the earlier answers is that it is ok to go thru the renewal process after expiration, but if you drive after expiration----without having renewed, that would be illegal.

  9. One-year auto license expires April 10. I plan to renew for 5 years on April 30th, what with closing for Songkran holidays and some other business I have.

    Question---my time-frame ok?---)waitng 20 days after expiration?)

And health paper, and certificate of residence---to do on the 18th----still valid for 30th?

Thanks. Please note this is for Chiang Mai, as i understand diffferent provinces may have different regulations.

  10. Electolyte?----I use "O-lyte". Do not know if good for babies. You can check ingredients. I settled on this because it seems to have less sugar than the others.

Vaccinations? I would not do it---ever for me or my childfren More harm than good (if any), but you may have a different opinion, might think, as some doctors do, that big pharma is your friend.
