  1. Totally disagree. I rented for my first 10 years here. Millions of Baht down the drain in rent. Landlords not returning deposits. Landlords coming into the property when I wasn't there. Putting up the rent. Threatening to kick me out so a friend could move in etc. I bought 7 years ago in Bangkok and couldn't be happier. Decorated exactly how I like it, no more rent payments, no landlord bothering me, no threats to kick me out or increase the rent at the end of the contract. A rent free base in Asia for the rest of my life. Very glad I made the decision.
  2. It's beyond embarrassing now. How can this guy lead the US? Stumbling around, falling down, claiming his son who died of brain cancer died in Iraq. It's ridiculous. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12113639/Biden-raises-eyebrows-claiming-late-son-Beau-passed-away-brain-cancer-died-Iraq.html It's completely undemocratic to have someone like this in a position of power. No wonder the US is in such a mess.
  3. No links? Tut tut. Actually I am correct. Debt has not decreased. I have links. https://www.statista.com/statistics/273294/public-debt-of-the-united-states-by-month/ He took office in Jan 21 which I've highlighted with the blue dot below. So no, it hasn't decreased.
  4. Yes it is. But even if it wasn't, I'm not sure dancing around half naked for an afternoon would fix everything. Not really the best way to make people respect you and take you seriously.
  5. When is straight white guy pride day? Are we not "special" enough? When do I get to parade half naked on a float and rub my straight white masculinity in everyone's face? Because frankly, being a straight white male is not enough for me, I really need to flaunt it and prove how proud I am of these traits that I have no control over whatsoever ????. Come one, we're special too. Seriously though, no-one cares who is gay these days. The struggle is over. Just live your lives. No need for these attention seeking events...
  6. I wasn't aware the thread was about the UK or GDP. I thought it was about debt growing under Biden. So back on topic we go... https://nypost.com/2023/02/23/when-it-comes-to-debt-joe-biden-is-the-six-trillion-dollar-man/
  7. Good news. This should ensure Biden only ruins the US economy as opposed to sending shockwaves though the entire world's economy with a US default.
  8. Sounds like Donut has a lot of questions to answer. Personally I'm not buying the story. If they mentioned it was a PitBull on the other hand...
  9. We all know those environmental responsibilities don't apply to elitist celebrities. They are there to preach to others, not to set an example themselves. Same as DeNiro with his preaching about the environment with his 7 children and private jets. Same as copulating with someone young enough to be your grand-daughter. It's fine if it's Al Pacino, but if it's Mr Jones from Number 15 then he's a pervert. So much hypocrisy. So many double standards. Ricky Gervais speech at the Oscars was spot on.
  10. More doomsday predictions about the UK. No doubt to be revised upwards when the UK's actual figures come out. Just like before. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/03/10/uk-economy-rebounds-with-stronger-than-expected-january-gdp-print.html Underestimating the UK seems to have become a sport. https://www.cityam.com/why-have-the-bank-of-england-and-the-imf-been-so-wrong-on-the-uk-economy-a/ No need for a prediction on Germany though. It's already in recession. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-65707206
  11. In Bangkok it's difficult enough if you're able bodied. Dodging motorbikes on the pavement, ducking under live electricity wires, avoiding sprained ankles on potholed sidewalks, negotiating your way around street vendors, soi dogs, cars that refuse to stop at zebra crossings, floods when it rains for more than 10 minutes. Imagine all that in a wheelchair. A total non starter.
  12. This isn't about not being able to have a drink that day. We've already established that people can buy in advance or find ways to buy it on the day and drink as much as they like on that day if they so wish. It's about the government using religion to exert control and virtue signal. If you like being controlled by your 'superiors' in the name of a religion that you may not even adhere to then that's fine. Many of us do not. Hope that helps.
  13. Normally I'd agree. But Saturday is the FA Cup Final and most of the big sports pubs showing the game in BKK will be following this ban. Even the ones that don't, it will be a coffee mug under the table which is still pretty lame. So it's kind of inconvenient even if you live here as I do.
  14. Sounds like Monnapan picked a road rage incident with the wrong foreigners. He didn't seem too keen to get out of the van the second time after he'd seen the occupants of the car. No doubt if the odds had been 3 to 1 in his favour he'd have done much more than break a wing mirror. Either way, had this been in Australia he'd have been ironed out across the road. I'd say he got off lucky.
  15. Roughly interpreted as "Disinformation should be the sole right of EU politicians". No surprises here. The EU loves to over-regulate, ban, restrict. It's their MO. It's no surprise they are terrified of a free speech platform like Twitter. If I was Barrot I'd be more concerned about the infighting resulting from the corruption scandal engulfing the EU, oh - and the fact that it's largest economy just went into recession. https://www.politico.eu/article/qatargate-belgium-alexander-de-croo-annelies-verlinden-blowback/ https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/may/25/germany-economy-falls-into-recession-high-prices-take-toll I guess it would be nice to bury all that, hence the ever increasing restrictions on social media. Maybe they will go the way of China and ban the lot and replace it with their own version of WeChat?
  16. That's pretty crass IMO. I opted for a simple, tasteful yet timeless design for the tat on my butt cheeks.
  17. I've never supported Thais being able to own English football clubs, given the restrictions of foreign ownership of various entities in Thailand. A friend of mine was also brutally assaulted by Leicester fans outside a nightclub in the mid 90's. So no tears from me on this one.
  18. Germany is the EU's largest economy (by a long way), so the fact it is also the "worst case" is significant. The fish rots from the head. Germany is the "head" of the EU in terms of economy (amongst other things). Yes, the UK is currently doing better than Germany, despite the UK leaving the EU and Germany remaining. Thanks for pointing that out. Ratings... lol.
  19. I’m sure those German pensioners unable to heat their homes, going to bed cold every night are thrilled that German politicians have made themselves feel better with this virtue signaling after decades of poor resource planning and over reliance on Russian gas. Especially after their representatives famously laughed at the warnings of over reliance on Russian oil, delivered by “the orange nemesis”. ignored warnings about exports to Britain suffering post Brexit. The Germans are reaping what they sowed in terms of this recession. I have personally made 2 big purchasing decisions where I bought Japanese brands instead of German brands (one car one motorcycle) post Brexit due to their behavior during Brexit negotiations. Disrespect British consumers at your peril. Disrespect the British people at your peril.
  20. Oh dear. Germany, the powerhouse economy of the EU in recession? Well they say the fish rots from the head. And the corrupt EU is certainly rotten to the core. it seems Britain leaving is really taking its toll on the EU. As many predicted.
  21. New narrative? I’d call it a new dawn. Out with the geriatric liar, replaced with someone half his age.
  22. I didn’t pay anything. Total bill was 55k paid for by the private health insurance that my company provides for me as part of my expat package. Private First Class insurance took care of the bike repairs.
  23. I never heard Michele Obama say anything interesting. Mrs De Santis is attractive, Republican, intelligent and has a great back story. No wonder the left are terrified of her.
  24. The truth? Like the fact that women do not have a penis? That type of truth? Or the Markle/Oprah “your truth” type of truth? Or the type of truth that Gervais spoke at the Oscars while Hanks got all offended from the crowd?
  25. He's basically saying it's not as hard line as he wanted it to be. I can sympathize with the opinion, I'd have liked a harder Brexit as well but for you to take his comments completely out of context to mean "Britain is failing after Brexit" is disingenuous in the extreme, but entirely consistent with your MO. Given worldwide economic conditions, Britain has done remarkably well since leaving. Germany for example, the powerhouse economy of the EU has just slipped into recession. Imagine that, Germany, still in the EU, the world's biggest common market with all that trade right on it's doorstep has slipped into recession. I guess being in the EU isn't all it's cracked up to be huh. I wonder if Germans voted to be poorer? https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/may/25/germany-economy-falls-into-recession-high-prices-take-toll Tough times ahead for the failing, corrupt EU.
