  1. As has minimum wage. Almost trebled in fact.
  2. I suppose it's the Tories fault that people spend their money on tattoos, Playstations, beer and cigarettes before food? It's the Tories fault people are too lazy to cook? How about personal responsibility? I used to eat for a pound a day when I was at Uni and nearing my overdraft limit. I'd skip the occasional meal. That's life. I didn't expect the government to put steak on my plate every night. Those luxuries came later after getting my degree, working for a decade and paying off my student loans. I was fortunate enough to be under a Tory government so I did get a small grant. Labour removed that shortly after I graduated.
  3. I'm guessing this was Thong Lor police. Now I am no fan of Thai police but I suspect either she had something on her or she had the "Don't you know who I am" attitude and rubbed the police up the wrong way. Maybe even deliberately to get content for her social media profile. I've been stopped and searched by them a few times (also outside The Robin Hood on 33/1) and as long as you are pleasant and don't have anything that you shouldn't, then they are OK and send you on your way. Having said that, if they asked me to do a pee in a cup at the side of the road test, I suspect I might end up spending a night in the cells for 'attitude adjustment' and making a donation to their annual party.
  4. She really perfected the #bekind #caring image, complete with benevolent smile. That's what made her so dangerous, at least with the likes of Daniel Andrews it's abudantly clear from the start that he's a nasty little wannabee dictator, but Ardern's disguise was quite effective. It is quite chilling that behind the smile was a deeply authoritarian character, one that brought misery to so many of her countrymen. One can only hope that people are starting to wake up to the type of shysters pushing the deeply flawed Woke agenda, and remove other such characters (Trudeau, Sturgeon etc.) ASAP.
  5. It seems there had been many issues re. guns on the set prior to Baldwin pointing the gun and pulling the trigger, killing his colleague. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2021-10-22/alec-baldwin-rust-camera-crew-walked-off-set Given that Baldwin was not only the star of the movie whose body double shot the live rounds, but also one of the movie's producers he would surely have known about this incident, which makes him firing the gun at a colleague without checking not long after, even more reckless.
  6. I didn't see any camps in Redfern. What camps are you referring to?
  7. I'm guessing I'll be accounting for 2 of those arrivals, once when I returned from visiting family in the UK and once when I returned after attending a business meeting in Sydney. Neither of my "arrivals" was for tourism though.
  8. So good in fact, you had to quote me twice ????
  9. Unfortunately Aboriginal communities have long suffered from the plague of Alcohol abuse. When I first worked in Sydney I used to walk through Redfern to my job in Alexandria. It was an Aboriginal hotspot at the time (maybe it still is?) and there were always groups of Aboriginals there, huddled around in groups of 5-10 hitting the bottle - and that was at 7am. I'm not really sure banning it for certain hours of the day or days of the week is the best solution though. Maybe education would be the way to go in the long term, it seems like a change of culture is required.
  10. Indeed. I don't have a Crystal Ball but once this story dies down I can see a visit from immigration officials in this man's future.
  11. This public announcement should escalate things nicely. I'm all for helping Ukraine, but why all the announcements? Just do it discretely for goodness sake. I guess they can't resist the opportunity for Virtue Signalling.
  12. Why not go the other direction? A stripper M&M, a drunk M&M, a gun toting M&M? More refelective of society. More inclusive to strippers, drunks and the gun lobby. They've really missed a trick here, I wonder if they even knew I was available...
  13. Lets hope he does a better job than Ardern. It would be hard to do worse. Let's also hope the ultra authoritarianism policies and chilling phrases like "We will continue to be your only source of truth" and "Unless you hear it is from us, it is not the truth" are confined to the history books as warning signs not to be repeated. Given that he's already claimed that criticism of Ardern was down to misogyny, I hold little hope for him. So let's hope NZ gets it right at the next elections.
  14. Strawman. I said he should take his punishment. I did not say said punishment had been agreed upon yet. Maybe he will be found guilty and his punishment will be jail time. Maybe he will be found not guilty and his punishment will only be loss of reputation, months in court and the guilt of killing an innocent woman hanging over him for the rest of his life. Either way, he should take it like a man. Somehow, given his post-killing weasel like interviews, I doubt he will.
  15. Actually it's an example of one person doing all the work (cutting) and the other getting to reap the benefits by choosing the largest piece following said cut. Imagine we'd just cut down a large Oak tree and agreed to share the wood. I said "Right, you cut that thing in half, I'm off for a beer and I'll be back in a couple of hours to choose the best bit". Get it now?
  16. Well it goes some way towards explaining his actions since he killed the woman.
  17. He's only just been charged, how could he be convicted? Read the OP for goodness sake and stop asking inane questions.????
  18. It's his responsibility as a citizen not to point a gun at someone and pull the trigger unless he KNOWS it is not loaded. Not thinks, suspects, assumes. KNOWS. To do otherwise is reckless. Now, read that definition again. Now I know he's a good dedicated Democrat and all that, but somehow I doubt the Screen Actors Unions rules will supersede those of the American justice system. He has blood on his hands and he should take his punishment like a man instead of trying to weasle out of it by blaming all those around him.
  19. So why make false claims? Just more lies from the corrupt EU. It reminds me of them claiming to act in good faith while negotiating a trade deal post Brexit. They cannot be trusted, as the recent corruption scandal has highlighted. Classic EU, pretending to hold the high ground while lying through their teeth. Lower than a snake's belly.
  20. He could plead that. Unfortunately, he did not "KNOW" that it was just a prop. If he KNEW, an innocent woman would not have died from a gunshot wound that day. Therefore, to point the gun at someone and pull the trigger is incredibly reckless. Which fits the defintion of involuntary manslaughter pretty much perfectly. https://www.justia.com/criminal/offenses/homicide/involuntary-manslaughter/
  21. Glad to hear you speak on behalf of Scottish voters everywhere ????. Unfortunately the UK has already left the EU so that ship has sailed. It's good to hear they still want to stay in the UK though and haven't changed their minds since they voted to stay in 2014. Not surprising really, given the recent corruption scandal in the EU. Are you implying that corruption is OK as long as the economic impact is not significant? I'm not sure you'd apply the same attitude if it was, oh I don't know, Donald Trump with the suitcases of cash under his bed. Yet you are fine to downplay it when it is an EU Vice President. Hypocritical much? In any case, it's impossible to know the economic significance until we know the full extent of the sordid story so it's a bit of a ridiculous question to ask at this stage.
  22. Not much chance of that ????. Talking of ridiculous notions of rejoining though, this corruption scandal has been more than a bit of a blow for the dreamers who think an Independent Scotland will join the corrupt EU. Double whammy for Sturgeon, I hope she's OK! https://news.sky.com/story/majority-of-scots-would-vote-against-independence-new-poll-suggests-12791201 https://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/23269298.scottish-government-backed-group-faces-eu-ban-corruption-scandal/
  23. It got a massive pass. Fluffy edges and excuses all round. For example... I wonder if he'd have been so accepting, forgiving and nostalgic about misogyny, sexual inequality, opposition to immigration, elitism and xenophobia in the West? Somehow, I doubt it...
