  1. No need to apologise. It takes more than that to upset me I can assure you :). It's a shame you never came to our wonderful country. That's another 200 quid the ferry company and youth hostels lost out on but hopefully they'll survive.
  2. Well, I have the stats I posted that prove Britain's decline in tourism since Covid is a worldwide trend and actually % wise Britain is faring much better than many countries who depend on tourism more heavily, such as Thailand. So there's that...
  3. I thought they were all coming on ferries and getting stranded at the ports? ????
  4. Tourism to Britain is down. Worldwide tourism is down. Tourism to Thailand is down. See a trend? No? Check the charts I posted not some anti British hit piece from The Guardian. Pinning it on Brexit is ludicrous. Desperate stuff from bitter remainers ????. The title of thread would be more accurate if it said "Worldwide downturn in tourism also evident in Britain". But no, this is The Guardian so they pretend it's down to Brexit ????. Predictably, bitter Remainers lap it up and attempt to deflect when presented with the facts.
  5. The OP was a left wing Remainer rag trying to pin the worldwide trend in reduced tourism since 2020 (a trend which was unsurprisingly also present in Britain) on Brexit. Laughable. Check the stats. You've got nothing.
  6. Same time the Chinese stopped coming to Thailand. Uncanny. Maybe Brexiteers should start paying repatriations to Thailand for ruining their tourism industry by leaving the EU (just before Covid lockdowns)? ????
  7. Yes I've reached my daily limit on statista giving you so many examples. Here you go in case you couldn't workout when global tourism fell off the cliff. All down to Brexit of course (nothing to do with Covid lockdowns). Oh look, Brexit ruined the US tourist industry as well. Who knew... And just when Covid happened again. How inconsiderate of us. https://www.statista.com/statistics/214763/number-of-overseas-visitors-to-the-us/ Damn those Brexiteers. Clearly nobody wanted to visit the US once members of EU countries required a passport check to enter the UK.???? I take it cause and effect isn't your strong suit.
  8. So compare with the world as whole. Who knew Britain was so important as to ruin the whole world's tourism industry just by voting to leave the EU. We really are as important as I thought. So strange it coincided with Covid lockdowns though, huh?
  9. Surely Europe as a whole would be a better comparison instead of cherry pecking one particular country? Oh look. It's also down since Brexit. Same as the world as a whole and the same as Thailand. Who knew... Damn those Brexiteers for ruining the whole world's tourist industry. So strange that it coincided with Covid lockdowns.
  10. There's no law that says you have to like Bogans either. However we should probably stay on topic.
  11. For the sake of completeness we should tell that to the Thai enterprises that have been hurt by the loss of tourism post Brexit. https://www.statista.com/statistics/994693/thailand-number-international-tourist-arrivals/ Damn those evil Brexiteers.
  12. Of course it's down, you may not have noticed that there has been a drop in tourism worldwide post Covid/war in Ukraine Show me a link that less tourism to the UK is down to Brexit, and not the cost of living crisis engulfing so much of Europe. Less tourists are coming to Thailand as well. The whole world in fact. Is that down to Brexit and the need for a passport? Or is it because people are more concerned about heating their homes than taking holidays? I can see the Guardian headlines now - "Chinese tourism to Thailand decimated by Brexit". ???? It's laughable that you ignore the knockon effects of Covid lockdowns and the War in Ukraine and blame absolutely everything on Brexit. Below are graphs for tourism worldwide and tourism to the UK? See any similarities after 2019? Damn that Brexit for ruining global tourism post 2019, so inconsiderate of Brexiteers to affect the whole world's tourist industry at the exact same time as Covid struck. ???? https://www.statista.com/statistics/209334/total-number-of-international-tourist-arrivals/
  13. It seems the Brits on here couldn't care less whether they come. It's only our left wing American posters who seem so upset about the French and Germans not coming to Britain. A curious phenomenon if ever I saw one. Maybe they could visit the states instead, that 10 hour flight is so much easier than 5 minutes showing a passport to UK immigration. Those US immigration officials are so friendly after all. Of course, they'd still have to wait 6 months for the French to give them a passport unless the US chooses to join the Schengen area. Somehow, I don't see the American voters going for that although they are convinced the British should.
  14. Not really. She asked, I replied.
  15. Staying in a caravan in Skegness? Nah, not really my bag.
  16. I'm shocked by people acting as if this is some kind of joke. There should be hell toupee.
  17. French inefficiency at issuing passports to their citizens is not the UK's problem. Maybe if they weren't all rioting over pensions it wouldn't take so long? If they are only staying 2 nights it's no great loss. They can go to Estonia if it's so difficult to produce a passport.
  18. Port? I normally go to the airport to catch my flights. I don't go anywhere near a port. Who gets a ferry to the UK from Germany? If our French friends have to save money by getting here on a ferry, they are probably not high value tourists anyway. Or possibly the type of "tourists" who never leave, in which case the fact they are put off coming is probably another benefit of Brexit.
  19. It seems he has been picking up some tips from Left Wing "liberal" politics in The West. Label anyone who disagrees with your deeply authoritarian stance a Racist.
  20. Yes I'm well aware of that, thanks for pointing it out though ????. Given the planning, expense and travel time that goes into the average holiday, a 5 minute 'obstacle' to show a passport isn't really a big deal. If that's enough to put you off travelling somewhere then you weren't that serious about going. Just more bleating from those who are bitter at losing the 2016 vote .
  21. I'm sure you are aware of the concept of the 15 minute city. Just as you are aware of "Green taxes". It's always amusing when someone who subscribes to the ideology of a Doomsday cult labels others as conspiracy trolls ????. I guess posts like yours are inevitable when sandwich boards are replaced by laptops.
  22. Oh dear, I wonder how they will spin this to tax us more and keep us within 15 minutes of our home/place of work?
  23. Maybe the Germans can go to Paris instead? Lovely this time of year. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11946855/Riot-police-battle-thousands-protestors-Paris-streets-French-pension-reform-plans.html Seriously though, if you are put off travelling to a country because you have to show your passport to gain entry, you should probably stay at home. Presumably they are put off every country outside the EU? Or is this just another Brexit bashing article by The Guardian?
  24. Given what's happening in Afghanistan right now, it could hardly be worse.
  25. And yet the UK economy is rebounding from the challenges of Covid and the war in Ukraine very well. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/mar/31/uk-avoids-recession-as-economy-stronger-than-first-thought-at-end-of-2022
