From Brexit to Rejoin - The Inflection Point.
JonnyF replied to Chomper Higgot's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Antagonism towards the EU? I think you've got that azz-about face. It was the EU that was incredibly antagonistic during the withdrawal process. Any issues that caused can be directly attributed to the petty vindictive attitudes of the EU. Any hopes of rejoining are pure fantasy. If it gained any traction it would lead to the rise of a new party and be put swiftly to bed. It happened before with The Brexit Party dominating the European elections and it would happen again. It woudn't necessaily be a bad thing IMO, the Tories are messing things up and Labour are farcical. Why anyone would want to rejoin an EU engulfed in a corruption scandal and heading into recession is beyond me. https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2023/02/10/corruption-scandal-mep-marc-tarabella-arrested-by-belgian-police-pending-hearing-before-ju -
From Brexit to Rejoin - The Inflection Point.

They've certainly messed it up, on that we can agree. By trying to please everyone, they have pleased nobody. They should have done a proper Brexit. WTO terms if necessary. The NI protocol is a mess. The solution is not to rejoin, but to scrap the protocol and leave the ECHR. Rejoining would be an absolute disaster. A complete non starter. Especially as they head into recession in 2023. Better for everyone to pull together and make it a success than banging on about the same petty arguments since 2016. https://www.wellington.com/en/insights/europe-economic-outlook-2023#:~:text=We expect the euro area, mild start to the winter. -

Good. It would never happen anyway, but if the talk ever gained traction then the worse the deal, the less likely it would be to happen. Hopefully, they would make rejoining dependent on Macron becoming both UK PM and UK Head of State, with Eva Kaili as Mayor of London. Given their arrogance, I wouldn't put it past them. -

Hopefully the conclusion to the meeting was to tear up the NI Protocol and send the remains to Brussels in a brown envelope. The EU seems quite good at handling those, along with suitcases full of corrupt cash. It's time for a real Brexit, not some namby pamby deal with the corrupt, bitter EU. Leave the ECHR at the same time. The only good thing that would come from Labour and The Conservatives plotting a return to the EU in darkened, smoky rooms out of the view of those pesky voters would be that it would lead to the brutal collapse of both parties and leave a vacuum in British politics which could lead to the forming of a new party that truly represents the masses. Frankly, given the state of the two main parties right now I think that would be a huge benefit to the UK. -
Russian soldier death rate highest since first week of war - Ukraine
JonnyF replied to Scott's topic in The War in Ukraine
Not really 'good' though, is it? Many of these soldiers have families and will have signed up for the Army before they knew anything about an invasion. Others would have been drafted into the Armed forces against their will. Their violent deaths can hardly be described as 'good'. -
A Danish wind turbine giant just discovered how to recycle all blades
JonnyF replied to Scott's topic in World News
This is good news and sounds promising. It would be interesting to know how much this costs to do and how much energy is used during the process (dismantling and transporting the massive blades to the chemical/recycling plant for example). Also exactly what chemicals are required, how they are manufactured and what are the by products of this chemical breakdown. Because ultimately the cost of this process will be passed onto the consumer in the form of energy bills. -
Racial slurs are ok if you are the same race as those you are insulting? So it's ok for blacks to use racial slurs against other blacks? But not for whites? It's ok for gays to use homophobic slurs? But not for straight people? It's ok for women to use misogynistic language? But not for men? You claim to support equality ? Lol you're tying yourself in knots again. Divisive language is divisive no matter the race/gender/sexual orientation of the bigot using it.

Very sad. However, the stupidity shown here is almost beyond belief. Keeping the dog in a cage, letting it roam free despite having a history of biting people, hitting it with a stick while it's hyped up to "teach it a lesson" (presumably not for the first time). Some people just shouldn't be allowed to own dogs, let alone powerful ones. Hitting PitBulls to "teach it a lesson" is incredibly stupid. For a start they have a high pain threshold so it's a waste of time, but more importantly a verbal telling off will get much better results, since they hate being told off by their owner. After a verbal telling off mine will sulk for hours, sit with his back to us, refuse food etc. until you show him that he is forgiven. He very rarely repeats any behaviour that led to the telling off. My previous Staffordshire Bull Terriers were the same, they'd lie on the floor shaking if you raised your voice to them. Incredibly sensitive to a telling off by the owner, absolutely no need to hit them. Disciplining PitBulls with a stick is a bit like slapping a bull on the backside and complaining when you get kicked into next week. Clueless.

Harry and Meghan to be questioned in Samantha Markle defamation case
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
This thread is about Markle being sued by her sister for more blatant lies. Maybe you could save your anti royalist pro republican independence comments for another thread? Although given Sturgeon's recent fall from grace, I doubt there will be many threads on that subject for a while. -

Maybe you could open your eyes and look at her dying father she abandoned, her extremely ill sister she slandered, her ex husband, the staff she bullied... Maybe then look to the physically disabled matron Harry mocks in his book? You know, just for starters.
