GOP targets drag shows with new bills in at least 14 states
JonnyF replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
You may not be aware, but there's this modern invention called Television. Even more modern, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook etc. It allows you to see things without actually being in attendance. A wonderful invention. You should check it out.???? -

Every time someone objects to extreme left wing ideology being rammed down the throats of normal, moderate people you label it as the "right wing" inventing a culture war. Totally disingenuous. -

Excellent. Maybe we could get back on topic now, it's much more interesting than throwing inane, completely unsubstantiated insults around as others on this thread have lowered themselves to. -

False equivalence. One poster by the Leave campaign doesn't make everyone who dislikes the corrupt, federalist, technocratic nature of the EU, a racist. It's just a word people throw around when they've run out of intelligent points to make during a debate. It's basically the same as saying "I've lost the argument therefore I will insult you". Like losing a game of tennis and then screaming "you're smelly" across the net at your opponent ????. Childish in the extreme. -

Funny how the left are suddenly so against cancel culture when it involves cancelling men dressed as women parading in front of children. ???? Suddenly they want government to stay out of people's lives. It seems there is no end to their hypocrisy. Now, ignoring their (predictable) double standards for a second, as long as the show is done tastefully and respectfully I don't have a massive issue with it. Pantomine, Thai comedy sketches complete with BOING noises etc. However, I've seen a lot of these drag shows where they all get a bit too excited with the flamboyance of it all and the bloke ends up dressed in a small thong, twerking in front of kids faces etc. I saw one where he took off his shirt to reveal his massive silicon implants, all with kids present. This is the type of thing I believe the law is trying to stop, and rightly so. -

Many immigrants, both legal and illegal were Caucasian. So how exactly, is that racist? Are you implying it was the Black and Asian Brits who were objecting to the white immigrants on the basis of race? You need a new schtick. Maybe you could read up on some of the issues that are relevant to the thread and then you can join in the conversation with some intelligent points? Because accusing everyone who disagrees with you about the EU of being racist isn't really working out too well for you... -

You seem to be confused between legal immigration, illegal immigration and racism. This thread is about the relationship between the EU and the UK going forward. Stop using strawman arguments and race baiting in an attempt to drag the conversation into the gutter just because you have nothing of value to add to the topic. -

You're the one who introduced race into the thread. Like I said, take your race baiting nonsense elsewhere, we are discussing the future relationship between the UK and the EU. If you lack the intellect to debate that, by all means feel free to lower the tone by screaming Racist on another thread. -
Russian soldier death rate highest since first week of war - Ukraine
JonnyF replied to Scott's topic in The War in Ukraine
Who? Maybe check who made the original comment "good" about their deaths. There is only one death that should be celebrated and that is Putin's. But once again, if you check which forum member's comment I was referring to you will see that he is a supporter of coup leaders and tyrants, his profile pic tells you all you need to know. -

We're trying to have a sensible discussion here, why don't you take the race baiting to another thread? -

That's quite the jump you've made, from a meeting to discuss improving relations with the EU to rejoining and accepting the Euro ????. I'd say it's more likely that the EU will no longer exist in it's current form in decades from now. -

Not going to happen. Much like Scottish Independence it is but a pipe dream for those who cannot accept reality. I am all for improving relations with the EU, but I'm afraid the ball is in their court on that one. If they stop trying to divide the UK using tools such as the NI protocol then we could sit down and have a mature discussion with them, but I suspect they will be sulking about us rejecting them for at least another decade. It's a shame they cannot be more pragmatic since as many of us predicted, Brexit has hit them very hard as their largest economy (Germany) shrinks, likely into recession. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/german-economy-unexpectedly-shrinks-q4-2023-01-30/ -

No, it's about taking the first steps to Rejoining. The thread of the title alone gives it away. I'm all for increasing trade with the EU. I was very happy with the "common market" as it started off. Never had any issue trading with them. The problem is, that is not what the EU or the Rejoiners want. It is simply a ruse to kick start a campaign to rejoin. To eventually again become a part of the march towards a United States of Europe. It won't happen. The EU don't want to trade with us as equal partners, they want us under their jurisdiction. -
Could this corruption scandal signal the end of the EU ?
JonnyF replied to Social Media's topic in World News
More arrests in the EU corruption scandal. It really does seem to be infested. It seems this EU socialist had a novel idea about wealth distribution. https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2023/02/10/corruption-scandal-mep-marc-tarabella-arrested-by-belgian-police-pending-hearing-before-ju -

Antagonism towards the EU? I think you've got that azz-about face. It was the EU that was incredibly antagonistic during the withdrawal process. Any issues that caused can be directly attributed to the petty vindictive attitudes of the EU. Any hopes of rejoining are pure fantasy. If it gained any traction it would lead to the rise of a new party and be put swiftly to bed. It happened before with The Brexit Party dominating the European elections and it would happen again. It woudn't necessaily be a bad thing IMO, the Tories are messing things up and Labour are farcical. Why anyone would want to rejoin an EU engulfed in a corruption scandal and heading into recession is beyond me. https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2023/02/10/corruption-scandal-mep-marc-tarabella-arrested-by-belgian-police-pending-hearing-before-ju -

They've certainly messed it up, on that we can agree. By trying to please everyone, they have pleased nobody. They should have done a proper Brexit. WTO terms if necessary. The NI protocol is a mess. The solution is not to rejoin, but to scrap the protocol and leave the ECHR. Rejoining would be an absolute disaster. A complete non starter. Especially as they head into recession in 2023. Better for everyone to pull together and make it a success than banging on about the same petty arguments since 2016. https://www.wellington.com/en/insights/europe-economic-outlook-2023#:~:text=We expect the euro area, mild start to the winter. -
