Trump's convictions were politically motivated. They thought being able to call him "the felon" would win them the election. It failed. DEI Harris saw to that. For once, DEI helped America by producing a candidate so completely inept and unsuitable that Trump romped home by about 15 lengths. Biden got let off his case because "he's an old man who forgets stuff" even though he was still President. Pathetic. Blatant. He then pardoned his degenerate drug addled gun toting son after promising not to. Anyway that's history. Trump won. Meet the new boss. Different to the old boss.

And then? Equal tariffs. He is simply looking for a level playing field. If (for example) they are putting 30% on US goods but the US is only putting 10% on their goods, it is not a level playing field. So in the above example, he wants them to drop their tariffs to match the 10%. If they refuse he will increase US tariffs to 30%. One way or another he will ensure the tariffs are more equal. After a few months of losing billions of dollars at 30% both ways, they will see the error of their ways and agree to 10% both ways. Which is what Trump wanted in the first place. Winning.
