  1. Thailand. Why, what difference does that make? I live in Thailand, but read in English and German only. My partner, who also lives here, is Thai and she reads in Thai and English. My partner's brother in law is Thai, but he only reads English language literature.
  2. Although I don't believe a single word of these "facts", I have to admit that there used to be one very old, rather Chinese looking, woman in our village who sat out side everyday reading a paperback. Don't know the language, but it was endearing to see somebody reading. Unfortunately, she has passed away, but I did enjoy seeing her sit at the front of her house. I used to be an avid reader in my younger days, but for the life of me I don't know why I lost interest in reading as I got older. Time restraints, perhaps?
  3. We are starting to produce more and more fruit from our garden and are interested in drying some of it so we can eat it later. I've looked on lazada, but have absolutely no idea what to look for, pros and cons, brands, etc. Does anybody have a device that they can recommend? I have dried some fruit in the sun, good old fashioned way, but am looking for alternatives. Thanking you in advance.
  4. That explains the relatively poor performance of this product... Thank you.
  5. Nobody is beyond corruption. We all, including myself, have a price which let's us sleep peacefully at night.
  6. The photos / file is corrupt. Will try again later. Neem oil.html
  7. Waste of any kind - food, energy, natural resources, etc. - is simply unacceptable!
  8. Mrs Djayz doesn't even bother opening her coffee shop any more and her family doesn't open their Thai restaurant either. Both dead businesses, easily half a year now. Empty bungalows. Nothing. Now she just focuses on selling plants (which is doing pretty good). People just don't eat / drink out much any more.
  9. That's exactly what happened. Had to return to BKK for a few days and that's when they got a foothold. Been an uphill battle since to get them under control. Thanks again for the helpful info.
  10. Well, it's that time of year again and I'm thinking of my Xmas dinner already. Unfortunately, last year's was a flop, so this year am planning on making up for last year. Any suggestions as to where we can go in either Nakhon Ratchisma, Buriram or Khon Kaen for a nice bit of Christmas dinner this year? I don't care if it's posh or in a pub, I just need that Christmas feeling. You know, turkey, gravy, roast potatoes, brussel sprouts, etc., etc., etc.
  11. Despite having sprayed my tomato plants at the beginning of the week (with Neem oil), I found these critters eating away happily the very next day! What are they and how can the be deterred - organically that is. I have picked every single one of them off the plants (and damaged leaves too), but that is quite time consuming. Any organic alternatives? Oddly enough, they don't seem to have attacked every plant - just the odd one here and there, but I don't want them spreading.
  12. Just when I thought that uniform couldn't be disgraced any further. Immediate suspension for this guy and vehicle impounded for a year! Might teach him some basic manners.
  13. Yes, because the executives at these kinds of businesses really do care about their livestock, eh, sorry, artists and their well-being. Get a good lawyer AND an interpreter. I wish her all the best - it's a tough business.
  14. I compliment people, esp. younger ones, who can save up, respect, but why must every single aspect of their lives be recorded, uploaded and shared? Mind boggling! Maybe I should make a Thick Tocker vid about me buying a chocolate bar at my local convenience store tomorrow.
  15. Ouch! That hurt... ???? ???? You have no idea of the Thais I've met. ???? Based on these, and other comments, you strike me as being a very sensitive creature. Are you in love?
  16. 100% correct! But, listening to them more times than not leaves me wondering "What's he/she talking about?" I've often wondered if it's a cultural thing. Do they think the same about us when we talk (in Thai or English)?
  17. I see it didn't take long for the old classic comment to appear. Very creative. I haven't set foot inside a local bar in years. My apologies if my expectations are higher than yours and this offends you.
  18. I have yet to meet one who could hold a decent conversation - in English or Thai. All joking aside, I have noticed a dramatic drop in their writing skills too.
  19. 15 minutes to check a single passport?!? Not my definition of a "relieved" process.
