So what's so special about this? I have to get to Mukadan on my own, then get crushed into a 'luxurious mini-van' Unless the trip from Bangkok to Mukadan is included... Pftttt!!!
I did this trip a few months back.Got picked up at Nakhon Phanom and had a mini-bus all to myself
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/622578-savanvegas-visa-runmy-experience/#entry6159243
I have used their service a couple of times also now and the minivan pickup was only myself each time in the van, its only a short trip across the bridge and to the hotel, quick service at the border, each time I have been they have been upgrading the facilities, service and food.

Your right, its not illegal, the officer just said it is a good idea as there are so many bike thefts and they have no way of knowing if a bike is stolen without calling the owner, it was nothing to do with money, this was a checkpoint on a small soi that is used a lot to cut around the checkpoints they do on the railway, they catch a lot of people there with stolen bikes, the way she talks to people like police would have upset the police as well, like i said, wish they had have locked her up, my only joy is she has a new victim (and the ones he doesn't know about) now. Sorry for dragging it off topic.I got a call one night, my ex had been stopped on my bike and the police were going to take the bike and lock her up as the bike was registered in my name on the copy of the greenbook, the police said i should keep a copy of her id and mine signed proving she was allowed to use it, had i known what i know now, i would have let them lock her up and throw away the key.
this makes no sense, i guess your girlfriend said to them like bike is belong to farang so they call you in for some extra cash i guess:lol:
Otherwise, it is never illegal for someone to ride a bike registered to another name as long as he/she has a license and there are no notice or warning about the bike like it is stolen etc.

i have been asked for a copy [of my book] several times and believe its required. It makes sense as how would they know who owns the bike without it?
Yes off-course you have to have a copy of the green book on you at all times, as you said it's proof of ownership.
Also in the West you have to carry this.
Technically they can confiscate your bike until ownership is proved, this way they recover many stolen Thai bikes when they stop youngsters and they can't prove ownership, the police take it and later check if the bike is reported stolen or not.
They are not likely to check this if you come in full riding gear on your big bike, as believe it or not those guys are not stupid but there are no guaranties.

Sounds like someone has interests in new parts in the govt. Such a disposable world we live in now, recycle and reuse, if the part is still ok from a wreckers i see no reason not to use it over new parts, the carbon footprint has already been made for the second hand part, the new part only helps destroy more of the environment.

I don't know of many people who have been able to get out of a hospital without paying, if they didn't pay, they don;t release them or give back their passport, this sounds more like a plan to charge higher prices to not have to tax locals higher for their medical care

I see 3BB now want a year in advance for any Foreigner wanting internet, even for their base end packages, no more pay by the month.
Where do you see that?
The shop told me when i went to ask about a 10m/512k new service, it's their new policy to avoid people skipping contracts

Agree, 300 baht is really nothing for such a service, especially if you have more important things to do, so many services are provided here in this country at reasonable rates.

There is a bit of the scam the insurance company and get a free holiday going on too from the ones who claim their gold was stolen, but never had any in the first place.

The planned airport is under construction on the east coast,, precisely Than Sadet NAtional Park.
Is this out of your photoshop artwork ? No oficial links and references too back up the position you mention...
This is in addition to that airport, this was taken at the District office at a meeting yesterday using a camera phone where the Bangkok govt were presenting the project, survey starting now, planned for completion within next ten years.

Proposed new project for airport on Koh Phangan by the government to do an airport on Bantai beach at the Thong Sala end of the beach.

Looking forward to it

I just had a look at the policy and it is
- only a maximum of 10,000 baht cover on damages to your own bike
- 50,000 baht for disability, no medical cover (max 100,000 cover for 2 people)
- 600,00 baht 3rd party property, most polices are 5 or 10 million here
- 300,000 baht 3rd party medical cover with a total of 10 million.
- Bail Bond 100,000 baht
Seems the CTPL covers more than this policy does.
