  1. Congratulations, Bob.
  2. Change the language to English in two steps. You're welcome.
  3. And then....reports of turning up to do new TM30 and immigration saying ....."returning to usual place of residence TM30 no need!" Was told this last week at Jomtien.
  4. Takes me back 25 years. Can't believe it's still happening.
  5. Does anyone have a TIN that is a ten digit number starting with 1? Trying to confirm that mine is, thanks.
  6. For medication received last week. Chaiyapreuk PO.
  7. Just as lie and lay can get mixed up, there is a confusion with the present participles, laying and lying. The same rules apply as lie and lay, with lying being an action you perform and laying an action you preform on something. Ed was lying on the floor, kicking his legs in the air like a toddler. Jeannie was laying the books down, one by one on the table. I am lying down until this terrible cold goes away. We took care of Mom, gently laying a blanket over her when she fell asleep.
  8. This explains why Bolt drivers stop some distance away instead of In front of the building.
  9. I noticed it once in over ten years of almost daily taxi rides in Bangkok. However, my powers of observation are not strong.
  10. Ten baht per entry for the person who cleans the toilet.
  11. Was a tax resident from 2001 to 2014. Same benefits as tourist.
  12. Beware fake vitamins too.
  13. It happened once or twice in twenty years that an item was not in the bag after shopping at a 7/11. Grrrr. However, on one occasion I thought I left a 500 baht note on the counter and upon inquiring the next day it was returned to me. The three staff each received a hundred baht tip for putting a big smile on my face. I rate 7/11 staff at 99.9/100.
  14. Good point, Mike. If the amount I fill in the tax return is too small, it would look suspicious as it would be inadequate to cover my living expenses.
  15. If I didn't transfer any money into Thailand but made monthly withdrawals at the ATM with a foreign debit card, would I be able to avoid local taxes? Thanks for your input.
  16. I have a blue book with my name and I am not a Thai citizen. I asked for one and it was issued to me over the counter in Pattaya. This appears to be an anomaly. Was it a fluke or can someone provide an explanation? Thanks.
  17. No, and the ratio of kindness to rudeness is 100:1
  18. That's right. At my school they were put straight into the store room never to be seen again.
  19. I only complained once at a Thai restaurant and don't recommend that anyone does. I only that said the food was cold and asked for it to be reheated. It came back half an hour later, cold and perhaps tampered with. Yes, it was very busy It was pre internet.
  20. Staff did it for me.

    Boy Blues Bar

My deepest condolences to Boy's friends and family. I enjoyed his music very much and hoped to see him play again. May I know the circumstances of his death?
