  1. I suffer from severe COPD and currently just sitting reading on my iPad I’m breathing heavily. I get good days and not so good ones and have been reading about oxygen concentrators. Anyone have experience of using one and what recommendations might you have. I read on Lazada that you get machines from around 2000 baht upwards to 50,000 baht and what differences would they have to make such a price difference. Thanks for any helpful advice.
  2. I have had the same problem for many years and basically have learnt to live with it. it can keep me awake for a long time at nights just laying there constantly swallowing but I do find that if I rinse my mouth with mouthwash a few times a day it does tell to relieve it considerably.
  3. There was no problem whatsoever and officer didn’t even ask to see any original documents etc.
  4. We have been living in a rented house past 12 months while having a new one built which we moved into this weekend. Off to immigration tomorrow to register staying at new house but when copying the blue house book I noticed my wife’s name was not entered, just the house address. When I asked her she replied they cannot enter her name as she is registered in another province where she has 2 houses, land and a rice farm and she has to move her registration to this province which she hasn’t got around to doing yet. She has the chanote plus documentation from the land office here confirming her ownership but will I have a problem with the tm30 if her name not in the book?
  5. Hotandsticky, agree with all your comments, but the letter they sent to my correspondence address specifically states that if I cannot satisfy the current banking requirements then my accounts will be closed off to me. The man I have spoken to on the telephone was both helpful and friendly but I’m waiting on an email stating the required-roofs that they want me to supply. I’ve just been speaking to a very good friend in another province and he was locked out of his accounts 3 months ago as no longer satisfying the current requirements and hasn’t been able to rectify it as yet, not know who his bank is but it’s not the same as mine. iI do have a correspondence address back there, I do pay tax on my pensions back there but it seems choosing to live in certain other countries comes with risks from your home country and whilst some say it’s easy to open a uk bank account from here from what I read it’s far from easy if even possible. What I consider the sad thing in all this is that I’m possibly one of Santander’s longest customers of around 50 years if I take the history of Santander back to Alliance and Leicester bank and before that as a building society where I was a member who they took over another b/s where I was a member etc etc. In all that time I’ve never owed a penny apart from my mortgage, never used an overdraft facility or ever caused the slightest problem. But if I become an illegal immigrant into the uk then it would seem I have arrived in the land of milk and honey with an army of people prepared to help me with every problem the system can throw at me - somehow doesn’t seem right.
  6. But my main problem is if Santander close my account which is what they suggest will happen if I haven’t passed their criteria then I need a bank account to have my pensions paid into in the first place. If I can have them paid into Wise I can transfer into my Bangkok Bank account as soon as they are paid into my Wise account minimising any risk of a Wise problem. Scubascuba3, I have never hidden the fact that I live in Thailand from them in the 16 years I’ve lived here and in fact they send me sms on my Thai mobile from time to time for security reasons although I do have a uk accommodation address for most things. When I go to the online bank site I never use a vpn so they would have always been able to check where I was if the wanted to. Was I just a random check victim because it does seem strange why now the checking on me.
  7. It seems that after a great many loyal years with Santander that I might well have to find a new bank for my uk pensions to be paid into as they’re checking up on me to see if I comply with the current banking rules and the decision is still to be made by them. Up to now everything has worked perfectly for both parties so why do they suddenly want to change things, anyway. I’ve done a search on the forum and found some useful info but was wondering if I can use Wise both as my bank and for transfers as I’ve been with them almost since they started for my transfers to my Bangkok Bank account. So my question is can I simply have my pensions paid into my Wise account and has anyone done so and is it working out well.
  8. Had my Toyota CHR well over 4 years and use the e-brake every time, also the auto braking when stationary at lights etc and just touch accelerator to release brake to pull away and so far been flawless every time.
  9. Encid. Had already tried the Carrier calculator which recommended 9600 btu. But thanks everyone for your replies, I’m going to stick with a 9000 btu model despite what the shop says.
  10. Looking for an air conditioner for small bedroom of 130 sq feet. When I look online at btu recommendations they say that 6000 more than adequate but the smallest unit I can buy locally seems to be 9000 which is 50% above recommended which I’m quite happy to have. However the shop I’ve been to says I need 12000 for that size room when I ask why he says Thailand always need more. So suggestions please, what size does anyone suggest.
  11. Defeats the object of internet banking if I have to go to the bank, and get a number and take my place in the queue just to ask them a question of how to do one particular thing in internet banking. Might just as well do I’m while in there and delete my app on my phone. Why not simply offer a sensible suggestion like everybody else who answers the question actually asked.
  12. Many thanks one and all. I wasn’t aware of how to change how much I could transfer so changed it to the maximum and then completed the transfer to my wife’s account. We’re now both quite happy bunnies.
  13. Thanks both but reply 1 gives me the answer I’m looking for and setting a limit is not what I’m wanting to do at all.
  14. For very private reasons I want to transfer a large sum of money to my Thai wife’s account by internet banking. Both with Bangkok bank accounts, what is the maximum I can do in one go and would it throw up any red flags. I’m not interested in hearing from the usual crowd of don’t be so stupid as I have a very good and private reason for doing so.
  15. CH -R doesn’t come with a spare just a tube of some puncture sealing chemicals which I’ve yet to test. Incidentally I did a search on Google for tyre info. 1 hour later I received 2 adverts for tyres sales on Facebook despite my trying to block this from happening.
  16. Thank you both, seems I’ll stick with the original size then. And should I listen to my wife and get Michelins or stick with what’s done me well which is the original Dunlops or do you recommend another brand.
  17. My wife has decided that my 4 and a bit years old Toyota CH-R hybrid needs its tyres replaced. She insists I get Michelins but the car came with Dunlops and they’ve done very well in my opinion and not even a puncture after 80,000kms on the clock. Michelins on all 4 will cost around 10,000 more than the Dunlops which I’m a bit reluctant to do so anyway done a lot of reviews on the internet and along came another poser. The originals are 215/60R17 but reviews suggest that I can also use 225/50R18 which means absolutely nothing to me so those that are knowledgeable in these matters - what is the difference and any advantage?
  18. I use Santander UK and Wise and find the whole thing faultless and extremely quick and easy. I think your problem stems from having a joint account. I have a joint and my name accounts and simply transfer from joint to my name and then to Wise. Works perfect every time.
  19. A couple of weeks ago I was in need of some medicine so went to a well known shop in our nearest mall and found no pharmacist so cannot have. Went to the other mall where there are 2 well known ones and the same story, in the end my wife got on her motorcycle and toured the town to find one actually open and working. We later found out that the pharmacists in both malls don’t actually start work until around 11:00 am.
  20. Nothing wrong with my card Pooreye, I’ve had it for decades and used it in many different countries including Thailand in just about every scenario possible with no problems whatsoever except for Apple. No problem with uk app site but if I want to register with the Thai app site when it gets to register my card it gets rejected and the statement reads card has to be registered in the following countries which all are SE Asia or the USA. When Siam Icon opened in Bangkok we went into the Apple Store to buy a new iMac, credit card accepted but I asked if they could deliver as my car was parked across the river, the reply was that I would have to order online, I replied that Apple online would not accept my credit card although the store does, he went to check and confirmed I was correct. Ridiculous. Have since given up, their loss not mine.
  21. Personally I find it ridiculous that we cannot in this day and age just download app from any country. There are on occasions apps on the Thai website that would be useful to me but I cannot access them because I’m tied to the uk website. Yes I know I can change to the Thai one but then it becomes even more ridiculous that I have to have a SE Asian or American registered credit card, cannot use my uk one even for free apps.
  22. Gotfridd, you should’ve seen the look on my THAI WIFE’S face, I think she is still laughing about it now. And NO I am not disrespecting Thai people for my simple amusement, just telling what I see on my travels. Lighten up a bit and enjoy the funny things you see.
  23. On our way home from visiting the wife’s family, been raining on and off and some biggish roadside puddles on the way, we go around a bend on a rural road and there are 2 young boys about 9 or 10 years old standing beside one of these puddles and would you believe they were fishing in it complete with proper rods and equipment. It was probably only a few inches deep at the very most and just a couple of strides across. There was no lake or other waterway anywhere close by for the possibility of anything coming from that, it was just a simple roadside puddle. Anyone else seen anything amusing, stupid or just plainly rediculous ?
  24. I’m no medical expert but I take different inhalers for COPD for the past 5+ years and if I take one that I haven’t used for a while I do sometimes detect and experience for a very short period a feeling of a fast improvement in my breathing. I put it down to my body not used to that medication and after a couple of days I don’t experience it again.
