  1. Lemstar. Why do you bother to reply when you only offer stupid comments, is your day that boring. If you actually bother to read what I followed on with is when making international purchases when I doubt my bank app would be of any use.
  2. Pagallim, I agree in general and although “credit” I have always paid in full on the due date. I do of course have a Bangkok bank app on my phone which gets used regularly but it’s more if I want to make an international online purchase where I forsee a problem like renewing my antivirus or vpn or an Amazon item. If I have to do without so be it but curious about ways around these problems. I used to have a Bangkok bank debit card but never used as always used my bank app so got my cash refunded, and my atm card doesn’t have visa or Mastercard on it so probably not useable n many situations. I don’t have nor want PayPal so will take any problem as it arises I suppose. Thanks anyway.
  3. For the first time in 50+ years I’m about to be without a credit card. My current supplier are changing their banking partners and so closing all accounts, not even transferring them to the new one. So online to apply and the first hurdle is only open to UK residents which I’m not . I do have a correspondence address but the next hurdle was they will contact you on your landline to confirm you are who you say you are. Even if getting over that one they then want a mobile phone number to send sms for security reasons when making a purchase and of course mine is a Thai number. Could give them my relatives number but if they get a sms in the early hours of a purchase I’m about to make it probably won’t get answered. So, what are the times when a credit card is essential for life to continue and I can think of very very few, so I’m sure there are some here who get by without one so any help or ways to get over problems or advice etc,.
  4. Aforek, yes that’s the one I get.
  5. Now mid seventies and often had problems rising to the occasion. On a visit to my doctor earlier this year I asked if she recommended Viagra and she discreetly wrote down Gracku and said this is better and a lot cheaper and so far while I cannot compare to viagra as never taken it but Gracku does the business for me and no side effects that I’m aware of.
  6. She says she has to suffer the loss, but what happens if there are any winning numbers in the unsold tickets, does she/can she collect the winnings?
  7. Thought you might like to hear of todays bank visit, you cannot really make this up. I have deleted the branch names as do not want to cause embarrassment to anyone as despite everything the girls behind the counter have been extremely helpful. One of the reasons for visiting xxx last week was to cancel my credit card and get my 50,000 baht back, firstly and quite ridiculously you can only do it in the branch you obtained it in in the first place. So into my bank in xxx to find although I had brought my credit card with me I completed forgot to bring the bank book related to it with me. Should that be a problem, well in Thailand of course it is. However to the tellers credit she did her utmost to sort out this ridiculous situation and finally after signing untold amount of forms she said that the money would be transferred to the branch here in xxx within the next 4 weeks. So yesterday Jit my wife got a telephone call telling us to go into the bank here to get my money, so off this morning we went. Firstly no one in the bank here has a clue about it so Jit phones the teller in xxx and then hands her phone to the teller in the bank here and the 2 tellers chat away to each other. Finally get back to us and it seems the teller in xxx missed one form that I was supposed to sign so now the whole process starts over again. Firstly xxx has to transfer the money to here, then I have to open a new credit card account here and then they transfer that money to my new credit card account and close the xxx one down. Then I have to cancel the new credit card account that I’ve just opened to get my cash back and then transfer the cash to my everyday bank account. I hope you’re still following all this! Then I sign a few more forms and get charged 253 baht for something or other and then she gives me back my passport and everyday bank book but not the credit card bank book. The teller thinks she has given it to me but we convince she didn’t so off she goes hunting for the book. Finally she finds it, somehow or other amongst all this paperwork she was doing the book slipped of the desk and found itself stuck behind the decorative wall covering of the bank, she cannot retrieve it so they have to get the odd job man to get it which means moving a desk away from the wall along with some machine and then poking around with sticks etc to hope it falls to the ground which eventually they succeed in doing and to everyone’s relief and a great many waiting customers totally mystified by what on earth is going on with this farang. We finally get a great many wai’s from the teller who even rushes to the door to open it for us and now have to wait on the telephone call to tell us that the money has been transferred between the banks and then return to the bank for more paperwork. Ironically I can on my phone here in Thailand with my uk bank accounts app and transfer money between accounts in seconds, send money to Wise to transfer it to Thailand in around 2 minutes and even the phone time is free because it’s all done with Wi-Fi. You really cannot make any of this up can you.
  8. Probably next month I’ll be moving to a new permanent address within the same town, do I report and register change of address on the tm28 or tm30. Thanks for your forthcoming help.
  9. I did my first marriage application at Kamphaeng Phet back in May and having only moved to the province late last year I was quite astonished at how awkward immigration there was having been for what had been extremely easy and straightforward things to do in Hua Hin. To cut a long story short when I said I would change to a marriage extension fully expecting even more hassle the female boss changed her attitude completely and the whole office bent over backwards to help me to the extent from actually getting married to getting the stamp in my passport was 19 days. Anyway to answer the original poster, I was initially given the same piece of paper which even my Thai wife had trouble understanding what they required but I was certainly never asked for my birth certificate at any time but other than that the requirements listed by MCJM were wanted with literally everything in duplicate. I also found that if I left all the talking to my wife things seemed easier as I often saw my wife and the boss laughing with each other over comments they were making and indeed on our house visit 2 officers were there for about 30 mins and not once apart from initial greeting was I even spoken to. On a side issue I always read here that marriage extensions are only approved by Bangkok but on more than one occasion were told that our application went to Chaing Mai for approval and indeed that was told to my wife by the house visit officers prior to their leaving, I only know what they told me.
  10. Pencor 2 taken just before going to bed, beware first time taking might lead to a few seconds faint but after 3 years taking them I rarely have a problem with peeing now.
  11. Did it all back in April, you need an Affirmation of free to marry certificate from the embassy which you also need to get translated to Thai and then certified by the MFA. You might also need to get your passport confirmed as genuine depending on what your marriage office requires.
  12. At 8 this morning my Bangkok bank app worked, at 10:30 it didn’t but at 11:30 it did and still is.
  13. But then Kawasaki the rear end of my car would be well out into the road and probably blocking it although I’m well aware that if many a Thai won’t care about it.
  14. Just spent some considerable time trying to find somewhere to park near the local market with many shops purposely parking a motorcycle or even a chair etc outside their shops obviously to stop you from parking outside their shop. However if I wanted to go their shop I still cannot park so I go somewhere else to spend my money. A prime example of them shooting themselves in the foot.
  15. And what will be the situation if you take them or are given them unknowingly in some food or drink, I most certainly don’t want the stuff but what’s the situation if I find I have been given it.
  16. My wife for whatever reason usually likes to walk behind me which I find frustrating when she is far more fitter and capable than me.
  17. Golden triangle. it’s all part of my greater plan to get hold of all her her money.
  18. Earlier today we were in town and had parked safely in a one way street. I instinctively looked to my left before crossing to which my wife asked me why when the traffic will come from the right. I replied that safety is second nature to most westerners and why so many of hers will never make my age. She simply smiled.
  19. Decided my wife should have a new motorcycle helmet, current one probably older than her and I’ve lost count of the times she picks it up from the road when it’s falls from her bike onto concrete. At least she religiously wears one and the chin strap done up. So off to look, first 3 places it’s either not the right shape colour or style. Into a place where they must have had 100 different ones but still not to her liking. Next place I stay in the car and she goes in alone and eventually comes out with one, great I says, hope it’s a quality one. Yes she replies it was 159 baht. How on earth can they even make one to retail at that price and as for quality well heaven knows and let’s hope she doesn’t have to test it for real.
  20. ThailandRyan, all done and dusted a long time ago and quite painless. Was up in Issan visiting girlfriend’s family so going back to home province anyway.
  21. Thanks everyone. Why is it that the simplest of questions and answers can provoke so much discussion although sometimes it’s quite entertaining/frustrating reading it all. The reason I ask is that losing my number plate in flooding in Issan late last year I was informed that I need to report the loss at a police station in province of registration and then get replaced at the DLT in same province.
  22. Hi, Can I renew my car tax in a different province to where it is registered?
  23. First thing I will say that it is just a feeling rather than a fact. Earlier today I went to fill up with fuel, I always top up when my gauge reads half or just under and over the years with my car I’m pretty good at estimating the approx cost. Today I was expecting 800-900 baht at very most and I know the prices are rising but my Thai wife asking for 95 and fill tank and it seemed to fill quickly, too quickly and came to precisely 1000 baht. That last fact was what had me suspicious as most places I go to it usually ends x70 0r x90 with them hopefull you’ll give then the small bit as a tip. But precisely 1000 baht when filling my tank seems suspicious. Yes they could be totally correct but I probably won’t use that service station again. Anyone similar experiences?
  24. My wife owns a market shop in what at times is very busy and she often jokes with a hint of seriousness about I go look after the shop for a while why she goes to eat etc. When I tell her it’s illegal for me to do so she really hasn’t any idea that it is so, but from what I read of what Ubonjoe has just said then it seems possible that I can do so if I apply for a work permit under the marriage extension. Am I reading what you say correctly.
