  1. Thanks everyone, I’ll tell my wife to get 2 just to be on the safe side.
  2. Beginning of next month I have to do my first extension based on marriage. I’m well aware of just about all requirements and have to do 2 piles of paperwork. I know my wife needs to go get a Kor Ror 2 from the local office and dated within 7 days of application but do I just need one original from office and make a copy of it or do I have to get 2 originals - 1 for each paperwork pile.
  3. My wife readily admits driving standards are far superior outside of Thailand but then contradicts herself by saying that falangs do not know how to drive here.
  4. As the OP I have to agree with Billd766 that’s it is very nice to not have any sarcasm etc posts and thanks to Sheryll for her moderation in keeping it that way. And it does indeed help to find that I’m far from being alone with the problem. Wandering around our Robinsons earlier today I say an elderly Thai lady being pushed in a wheelchair and nobody that I could see gave her a second glance which does give me that confidence that I really need to have in being dependent on someone else and not being self conscious about it. My problem comes and goes with one minute I’m breathing reasonably ok but when I went to try in a new t-shirt the effort involved in taking off and putting on another one had me gasping for breath half way through requiring a good 5 minutes sit down and doing breathing exercises before a recovery to continue walking.
  5. You can get Trelagy in this country, I think it’s available from Bangkok Hospital group. I take Anoro also from GSK which has 2 of the same ingredients which is available in many places.
  6. Back on Monday I placed an order with Shopee for some expensive shaving cream which was being sold a few hundred baht cheaper than on other sites. It arrived a short while ago and we paid cash on delivery, on opening it was completely the wrong item being some very cheap body lotion. My wife immediately telephoned the courier driver who told us to go to their office. This we did and a helpful girl checked the supplier online and confirmed that they were a crooked outfit who they have had many problems with. As money was still in possession of driver and not been banked we got an immediate refund from Kerry and left the office wiser. I’m well aware of if something is a bit too cheap then buyer beware but we all can fall into the temptation once in a while, memo to myself is listen to myself in future.
  7. Yellowtail, apology fully accepted. As to why I might be embarrassed about being in a wheelchair was what my original post was about, how did you feel when suddenly you cannot get about easily and need someone to push you and indeed some replies were that that some feel that way, and yes we’re all different and have different reactions to sudden different personal situations. And I know we shouldn’t have any stigmas about it but some do and I’ve yet to experience it. The wheelchair is under serious consideration and I do want a quality one. Today I managed to walk around our local Robinsons relatively easy for an hour or so but yesterday I was wheezing just watching the telly, every day is different.
  8. Yellowtail, I know exactly what is wrong, and there is no cure. Why can’t you be like the other posters and answer what is asked rather than some sort of cynical reply. Surely you also hear of people that were as fit as a fiddle yesterday and suddenly given how many days they have left completely out of the blue, and no I’m not a deaths door yet and simply want to enjoy whatever time I have left which might hopefully be in years rather than months.
  9. I’m not sure how I should feel, but health wise my ability to walk far is disappearing not due to legs but breathing. I’m beginning to feel that leaving the house is soon possibly being a no go but my beloved Thai wife is now insisting we get a wheelchair and she’ll happily push me wherever we want to go. My reaction to this probably quite wrongly is a feeling of embarrassment even humiliation from being someone not so long ago could climb a mountain if needed to to now having to be pushed around to go anywhere at all. So, how have others felt and coped when it has happened to them, just being grateful that you have someone willing to help or do you just hope that no one you know ever see’s you.
  10. My wife has another home in a small village up in Issan that we visit a few times a year. She spends most of her time visiting family and friends or checking her rice fields leaving me at home there. Frequently dogs wander in and out and if I see them I shoo them out. She saw me do it one day and asked me not to do it and I asked why as they were only coming in to <deleted> in her place rather than someone else’s property. The reply was I don’t want to upset the owners by stopping it !!!
  11. Shortly after my first AstraZeneca covid jab I experienced severe breathing problems, I went to my usual clinic who put me on oxygen and a nebuliser, took a blood test and sent me for chest X-ray. The blood test along with the X-ray showed clots on my lungs, I was prescribed a rather expensive blood thinner for 2 weeks and the next test came back all clear and my doctor decided I not need them anymore and have had no problems with clotting since.
  12. The only reason why I mentioned the possibility of my atm card needing to be replaced where my account was opened was that on an occasion that my card got stuck in the atm the nearest branch to where I was did cancel my card without any hassle but told me I had to go to where my account was held to get it replaced. As for a new pass book I’ve had that renewed where I am now along with cancelling my credit card and getting my deposit refunded. I do get charged 15 baht on the odd occasion I use the atm but a check on how much it cost me in the past 12 months amounted to less than 500 baht, I can live with that.
  13. I moved to a distant province from where I opened my bank account 18 months ago and have yet had no reason to have to return to the original bank branch for anything including statements and bank letters for immigration. The one reason I might have to that I’m aware of is in losing my ATM card for any reason
  14. I’m always reading in the news about something happened downtown or people are going downtown, occasionally I read a reference to uptown but I’m not aware these are British expressions and I’m not entirely sure what/where they mean. The only logic I can come up with as it’s meaning a town centre so what/where does the term mean.
  15. I had no problem getting a new Bangkok Bank book from a different branch to where my account is.
  16. As heading says, I’ve been trying all day to do a transfer and even though Santander are sending me security messages all I get is an “ooops somethings gone wrong” when completing and sending the pass code.
  17. I simply filled in the tm30 with my name and the new address, copies of my various passport pages, (most of which were handed back to me), wife’s I’d card, copy of house book page showing house number, we handed over everything to immi officer, he spoke a few times to my wife but I don’t know what was said and 10 minutes later we left with the tm30 stapled into my passport. All was very easy.
  18. My wife’s name was not in the house book for our new house as she has other houses and we had no problems when we went to register me on a tm30 because of it.
  19. The seller guarantees lowest price, free returns within 15 days so as I’ve yet to receive the product and pay for it he can also offer me the lowest price now and I will keep it.
  20. Nodisplayname, I think it’s very poor marketing policy to contact a customer who has yet to receive his order that it’s now 1500 baht cheaper for everyone else, he actually went out of his way to send me the message. Yes I agree that had I had the product a few days you would be correct and I would happily live with it. I did contact him and the reply was simply “sorry dear” which sounds very patronising to me. So if he can reduce it by that amount he can also take the loss on delivery costs and I’ll order from another company.
  21. Poor humour, have you nothing better to do?
  22. Between Xmas and new year I ordered an item from a manufacturer on the Lazada app to come from China and following tracking it’s now arrived in our local Flash depot so probably out for delivery tomorrow. However, around lunchtime I received a notification from the manufacturer via the Lazada app that I can now order the item for just over 9000 baht, when I ordered it was 10500. This has angered me, and no it’s not from a different seller, it’s the manufacturer. I haven’t either received or paid for the item yet and now it’s 1500 baht cheaper so can I simply refuse to accept delivery and leave Flash with the problem of returning unpaid to sender. I then can reorder at the new lower price if I feel I still want to deal with this manufacturer who feels it’s good marketing policy to send a purchaser a promo of a lower price when he’s not yet received original purchase.
  23. It’s easy to see how they can crash on straight roads, our experience earlier today albeit on a normal 2 lane road. Driving alone perfectly safely until a stream of cars coming the opposite direction, 1 Toyota pickup although he can clearly see me as visibility is excellent and a perfect straight road but he still overtakes just a few yards in front of me forcing me onto the edge of the road. My wife strangely criticises me saying I should have moved over for him to which I reply you only overtake when it is safe to do so and not blatantly in front of oncoming traffic.
  24. Do you not think that laws for the British should be made by the British in the UK and same for all the other countries made by their own citizens. When I was much younger we voted to join a trading organisation not to be ruled by other countries with many ridiculous rules made by persons who in many cases have no idea what a days work consists of. Why should huge amounts ofBritish taxpayers money be given to the citizens of other countries who flock to our shores because the benefits are greater here than in their own countries. If all of the anti brexiteers in political and civil servant circles actually got behind it rather than trying to hinder it progress would be accelerated. And I don’t know of one person who was taken in by some of the nonsense spoken by both sides, we want politicians to be answerable to the public and under the gestapo in Brussels that is not allowed.
